        작업장 화학물질 독성예측을 위한 독성발현경로의 응용과 전망

        Objectives: An adverse outcome pathway is a biological pathway that disturbs homeostasis and causes toxicity. It is a conceptual framework for organizing existing biological knowledge and consists of the molecular initiating event, key event, and adverse output. The AOP concept provides intuitive risk identification that can be helpful in evaluating the carcinogenicity of chemicals and in the prevention of cancer through the assessment of chemical carcinogenicity predictions. Methods: We reviewed various papers and books related to the application of AOPs for the prevention of occupational cancer. We mainly used the internet to search for the necessary research data and information, such as via Google scholar(http://scholar.google.com), ScienceDirect(www.sciencedirect.com), Scopus(www.scopus. com), NDSL(http: //www.ndsl.kr/index.do) and PubMed(http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed). The key terms searched were “adverse outcome pathway,” “toxicology,” “risk assessment,” “human exposure,” “worker,” “nanoparticle,” “applications,” and “occupational safety and health,” among others. Results: Since it focused on the current state of AOP for the prediction of toxicity from chemical exposure at work and prospects for industrial health in the context of the AOP concept, respiratory and nanomaterial hazard assessments. AOP provides an intuitive understanding of the toxicity of chemicals as a conceptual means, and it works toward accurately predicting chemical toxicity. The AOP technique has emerged as a future-oriented alternative to the existing paradigm of chemical hazard and risk assessment. AOP can be applied to the assessment of chemical carcinogenicity along with efforts to understand the effects of chronic toxic chemicals in workplaces. Based on these predictive tools, it could be possible to bring about a breakthrough in the prevention of occupational and environmental cancer. Conclusions: The AOP tool has emerged as a future-oriented alternative to the existing paradigm of chemical hazard and risk assessment and has been widely used in the field of chemical risk assessment and the evaluation of carcinogenicity at work. It will be a useful tool for prediction, and it is possible that it can help bring about a breakthrough in the prevention of occupational and environmental cancer.

      • 우리나라의 근골격계질환자 발생 추이 분석(1998-2007)

        본 연구는 우리나라의 1998년부터 2007년까지 10년간 발생한 근골격계질환자(30,439명) 현황을 노동부 산업재해분석 결과 및 한국산업안전공단 산업재해원인조사 자료에서 발췌하여 사업장 규모별, 업종별, 입사근속기간별, 요양기간, 질환자의 연령추이 등에 관하여 분석하였음. 2007년도 근골격계질환자는 7,723명 발생하여 전체 재해자(90,147명)의 8.6%를 점유하고 있으며 또한, 업무상질병자 11,472명의 67.3%를 차지하고 있음. 2006년부터 새롭게 근골격계질환으로 분류된 사고성요통을 제외한 근골격계질환자 분석결과 (1) 신체부담작업 및 작업관련성 요통에 의한 근골격계질환자는 2003년을 기점으로 매년 지속적으로 감소하고 있으며, (2) 2004년부터 300인 이상 사업장에서 차지하는 근골격계질환자 점유율이 감소하고, 50인 미만 사업장의 점유율이 증가하는 추세임. (3) 업종별로는 제조업에서 발생한 근골격계질환자가 전체 질환자의 74.8%를 차지하였으나, 2003년부터는 다소 감소하는 추세로 드러남. (4) 입사 근속기간별로는 5년 미만 종사자가 차지하는 점유율이 증가하는 추세이며, (5) 근골격계질환으로 인한 요양기간 분류에서는 29일-90일 군에서 차지하는 점유율이 급격히 증가하는 추세임. (6) 질환자의 년령별 분석결과는 2005년부터 점진적으로 50대이상의 고령근로자가 차지하는 점유율이 증가하고 있는 것으로 나타남. 사고성요통 질환자(2006-2007, 2년간) 분석결과에 의하면, 2007년 질환자 수는 전년대비 59.7% 증가하였으며, 업종별 발생현황에서도 제조업이 42.6%, 비제조업에서 57.4%발생하였음. 이번 우리나라에서의 최근 10년간 근골격계질환자 발생현황 분석이 향후 사업장 기술지원사업 등 근골격계질환예방 사업 전개에 도움이 되기를 기대함.

        화학물질의 누출과 피부접촉에 의한 재해자 및 사고사망자 발생현황 조사

        Objectives: We investigated the status of accidents and deaths caused by chemical leakage and skin contact in Korea. The purpose of this study was to produce and provide technical reference data for the efficient management of accidents and the rational management of accidental chemicals. Methods: Accidents and deaths caused by chemical leakage and skin contact in industry were investigated. Based on 68 accident reports related to chemical leakage and skin contact, the causes of accidental deaths were analyzed. In addition, we investigated the chemical substances and articles that caused these accidents and deaths. Based on the results of the investigation, the causes of accidents caused by chemical leakage and skin contact were identified and practical management measures for the chemicals were suggested. Results and Conclusions: In 2018, 372 people suffered from chemical leaks and skin contact, up by 123 (about 49.4%) from the previous year. The number of accident deaths was 14, an increase of five (about 55.6%) from the previous year. In the last three years (2016-2018), 91 chemical substances and article groups were involved in accidents caused by chemical leakage and skin contact. There were 16 chemical substance and article groups involved in accidental deaths. There were ten cases of accidents involving two or more casualties due to chemical leakage and skin contact, and 23 deaths occurred. Most of these accidental deaths were caused by subcontractor workers outsourcing risks. Therefore, there is an apparent need to strengthen the responsibility for safety and health among subcontractors.
