        미용 자원봉사활동 만족도 조사 및 활성화 방안

        This study has attempted to investigate how satisfied beauty care volunteers were with their volunteer activities and how to further facilitate them. A total of 390 people who participated in beauty care volunteer activities from September 14 to October 6, 2010 were examined. According to an analysis of satisfaction levels, 'helping neighbors in need of help (M=4.05)' and 'I can feel that someone needs my help (M=4.05)' had the most responses. In terms of satisfaction with beauty care volunteer activities in groups, a statistically significant difference was observed in the following categories; 'helping neighbors in need of help (p<.001),' 'approval from each department (p<0.1),' 'improvement of positive thinking (p<.01), 'I am proud of being a beauty care specialist (p.01),' 'helpful in getting a job or starting my own business (p<.01)' and 'helpful for practice (p<.001).' According to an analysis of how to facilitate beauty care volunteer activities, 'proper connection between supply and demand of volunteer activities' was the highest (M=4.11). In terms of the promotion of volunteer activities among groups, a statistically significant difference was observed in 'necessity of beauty care-related education (p<.05),' 'posting of beauty care volunteer activity managers (p<.05),' 'volunteer activity check and automatic mileage accumulation (p<.05)' and 'necessity for establishing a compensation program (0<.001).' This study is significant in that it has expanded the role as a social activity contributor who raises beauty care specialists' pride and quality of life.

        면역증강물질을 생산하는 해양미생물의 분리 및 동정

        면역증강물질을 생산하는 균주를 해수로부터 분리하여 동정한 결과 크림색의 둥근 점질성의 집락을 나타내었으며, Gram 음성의 간상형이고, 미약한 운동성을 가지며 catalase 양성과 oxidase 음성 반응을 보였다. 균주를 6시간, 20시간, 72시간 및 144시간 배양하여 전자 현미경상에서 관찰한 결과 20시간 배양한 영양세포는 1.25~0.6×0.6 μm 크기의 간균 형태를 갖추었으며 시간이 흐를수록 세포내 과립의 밀도가 증가하면서 세포 형태가 다형태성으로 변하였다. 세포내 과립의 존재를 확인하기 위해 sudan black B로 염색한 결과 양성으로서 polyhydroxy butyrate로 예상되었다. 생육을 위한 최적 온도는 30℃, pH 는 3.0~10.0이었으며 호기성균이었다. D-Glucose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, inositol, maltose 등의 당과 L-asparagine, L-glutamate 등의 아미노산을 이용하였고 특히, O/F test에서는 glucose와 maltose를 산화하였다. 이상과 같은 결과로 해양세균 유래인 Pseudomallei group의 Burkholderia 속으로 확인되었으므로 본 균주를 Burkholderia sp. IS-203으로 명명하였다. A halophilic bacterium was isolated from domestic marine. The bacterium was identified as a gram negative and motile. Transmission electron micrograph after cultivating for 6-, 20-, 72-, and 144 hrs showed that it was bacilli and contained intracellular granules, which were pleomorphic, larger in density by the time and considered to be polyhydroxy butyrate (PHB) since they were positive on the Sudan black B staining. Their biochemical characters included the oxidation of glucose and maltose as a substrate and utilization of amino acids such as L-asparagine and L-glutamate for efficient growth. Of note, the presence of sodium chloride was critical, because the isolated marine bacterium could not multiply and even produce any immunostimulant in the deficiency of sodium chloride. The morphological, physiological and biochemical characteristics of the isolated resembled those of the Pseudomallei group, therefore it was identified as Burkholderia sp. IS-203.

      • 암과 세포주기에 관한 최근 연구

        본 총설에서는 포유동물 체세포 세포주기에서의 조절에 관한 최근 연구동향을 다루고자 한다. 세포주기의 분자생물학적 해석에 관한 연구는 짧은 역사에도 불구하고 최근 몇 년 동안 약 25,000편 이상의 논문들이 발표되었다. 이러한 방대한 내용들을 모두 다룬다는 것은 거의 불가능한 일이지만, 기본적인 체세포 주기의 조절에 관한 최근 연구의 개념을 알아보고 특히 암세포에서 이들 조절 기전의 이해가 왜 종양 치료에 중요한 것인지를 본 총설에서 다루고자 한다. Regulation of cell proliferation is a complex process involving the regulated expression and/or modification of discrete gene products, which control transition between different stages of the cell cycle. The purpose of this short review is to provide an overview of somatic cell cycle events and their controls. Cyclins have appeared as major positive regulators in this network, because their association to the cyclin-dependent kinases (Cdks) allows the subsequent activation of the C아/cyclin complexes and their catalatic activity. In mammalian cells, early to mid G1 progression and late G1 progression leading to S phase entry are directed by D-type cyclins-Cdk4, 6 and cyclin E-C아2 both of which can phosphorylate the retinoblastoma protein (pRB). pRB, is a transcriptional repressor which, in its unphosphorylate state, binds to members of the E2F transcription factor family and blocks E2F-dependent transcription of genes controlling the G1 to S phase transition and subsequent DNA synthesis. Cyclin A is produced in late G1 and expressed during S and G2 phase, and expression of B-type cyclins is typically maximal during the G2 to M phase transition and it controls the passage through M phase. They primarily associate with and activate Cdk2, and Cdc2, respectively. On the other hand, the Cdk inhibitors negatively control the activity of Cdk/cyclin complex by coordinating internal and/or external signals and impending proliferation at several key checkpoints. These current and further findings will provide novel approaches t understanding and treating major diseases.
