        Podoplanin, α-Smooth Muscle Actin or S100A4 Expressing Cancer-Associated Fibroblasts Are Associated with Different Prognosis in Colorectal Cancers

        The interactions between the tumor microenvironment and tumor cells determine the behavior of the primary tumors. Whether cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAF) have a tumor progressive or a protective role likely depends on the type of tumor cells and the CAF subpopulation. In the present study, we analyzed the prognostic significance of CAF subpopulations in colorectal cancer (CRC). CAF phenotypes were analyzed in 302 CRC patients by using antibodies against podoplanin (PDPN), α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA),and S100A4. The relationship between the CAF phenotypes and 11 clinicopathological parameters were evaluated and their prognostic significance was analyzed from the disease-free and overall survival times. We observed that at the tumor invasive front,PDPN CAFs were present in 40% of the cases, and S100A4 or α-SMA CAFs were detected in all the cases. PDPN/S100A4 and α-SMA/S100A4 dual-stained CAFs were observed in 10% and 40% of the cases, respectively. The PDPN+ CAFs were associated with 6 favorable clinicopathological parameters and prolonged disease-free survival time. The PDPN−/α-SMAhigh CAFs were associated with 6 aggressive clinicopathological parameters and tended to exhibit shorter disease-free survival time. On the other hand, the PDPN−/S100A4high CAFs were associated with 2 tumor progression parameters, but not with disease prognosis. The PDPN+ CAF phenotype is distinct from the α-SMA or S100A4 CAFs in that it is associated with less aggressive tumors and a favorable prognosis, whereas the PDPN−/α-SMAhigh or PDPN−/S100A4high CAFs are associated with tumor progression in CRC. These findings suggest that CAFs can be a useful prognostic biomarker or potential targets of anti-cancer therapy in CRC.

        촉매 분해 에탄올을 연료로 사용하는 마이크로 가스터빈의 성능

        In order to verify the possiblity of improving the combustion performance of ethanol using zeolite catalyst and the characteristics of nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide emission, micro gas turbine experiments were performed using catalytic reaction products, ethanol and kerosene as fuels and the results were compared. The thrust of the catalytic reaction product was lower than that of kerosene, but it was improved by 5% on average compared with the use of ethanol. Nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide emissions of the catalytic reaction products were measured to be very low overall compared to kerosene. As a result, when the ethanol was reformed using the zeolite catalyst, the engine performance could be improved while maintaining the environment friendliness of the ethanol. 제올라이트 촉매를 이용한 에탄올의 연소 성능 향상 가능성과 질소산화물 및 일산화탄소 배출 특성을 검증하기 위해 촉매 반응 생성물, 에탄올, 케로신을 연료로 사용하여 마이크로 가스터빈 엔진 구동실험을 수행하고 그 결과를 비교하였다. 촉매 반응 생성물의 추력은 케로신의 추력보다 낮았으나 에탄올을 사용했을 때에 비해 평균적으로 5% 정도 향상되었다. 촉매 반응 생성물의 질소산화물과 일산화탄소 배출량은 전반적으로 케로신에 비해 매우 낮게 측정되었다. 결론적으로 제올라이트 촉매를 이용하여에탄올을 개질하는 경우, 에탄올의 친환경성을 유지하면서 엔진성능을 개선할 수 있는 가능성을 확인하였다.

      • 이산화탄소 전기화학적 전환 성능에 미치는 전해액 첨가제의 영향

        전기화학적 CO<sub>2</sub> 전환 기술은 이산화탄소 배출량 증가에 따른 지구 온난화 문제의 해결 뿐 일산화탄소, 개미산, 포름알데히드, 메탄올, 메탄과 같은 고부가가치 탄소화합물의 생성에 따른 이익도 기대 할 수 있어 최근 그 가능성을 인정받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 수용액 전해질에서 CO<sub>2</sub>를 전기화학적으로 전환하여 개미산을 생산하는데 있어서 전해액에 첨가제를 도입하여 그 영향을 평가하였다. 전환 성능 평가는 H-type 반응기를 사용하였으며, 작업전극 촉매로 Sn/C를, 상대전극으로 백금전극, 기준전극으로 Ag/AgCl을 사용하였다. 실험은 상온조건에서 시간대전류기법(chronoamperometry)을 이용해 환원전위 -2.0V에서 2시간 동안 진행하였다. 기상 생성물은 GC를 사용하여 수소와 일산화탄소를 분석하였고, 액상 생성물은 HPLC를 이용하여 개미산을 분석하였다. 첨가제를 도입하지 않았을 경우 개미산의 페러데이 효율은 39%, 생산속도는 3.7 mol/㎡h 이었다, 양극액에 첨가제를 도입하였을 경우 개미산의 효율은 32.4%, 속도는 2.2 mol/㎡h이고, 음극액에 첨가제를 도입하였을 때 개미산의 효율은 39.2%, 속도는 4.0 mol/㎡h의 결과를 나타냈다. 양극액에 첨가제를 도입하였을 경우 페러데이 효율과 개미산 생산 속도가 약간 감소하는 반면에 음극액에 첨가제를 도입했을 때 효율과 생산속도가 향상되는 결과를 확인 할 수 있었다.

        Seminal Vesicle Involvement by Urothelial Carcinoma in Situ of the Bladder with Mucosal Spread Pattern: A Case Report

        Mucosal spreading of urothelial tumors to the seminal vesicles is very rare. We experienced a case of mucosal involvement of the seminal vesicles by a bladder tumor in a 72-year-old man. The patient had a history of transurethral resection for invasive urothelial carcinoma of the bladder 8 years previously. Radical cystoprostatectomy was performed owing to recurrent and multiple urothelial carcinoma in situ. Microscopically, the urothelial carcinoma in situ was throughout the mucosa of the urinary bladder, both ureters, the prostate, and the left seminal vesicle. To date, the implication of mucosal involvement of the seminal vesicles by urothelial carcinoma is unclear. However, careful microscopic examination is needed to avoid an erroneous diagnosis.

        인삼양영탕을 이용한 실험연구 분석

        Objective : This study aimed to analyze a comprehensive feature of experimental research on Insamyangyoungtang and develop a strategy that can be used for experimental studies on Insamyangyoung-tang in the future. Method : The journal search was performed using six databases : PubMed, Chinese database (China Network Knowledge Infrastructure, [CNKI]), Japan database (Japan Science and Technology Information Aggregator, Electronic, [J-STAGE]) and three Korean databases (Oriental Medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System [OASIS], Research Information Service System [RISS], and Korean Studies Information Service System [KISS]). We used limited keywords and analyzed studies by publication year, experimental models, and the subjects of biological activities. The mechanism of pharmacological activity in accordance with the therapeutic effects of Insamyangyoung-tang was noted. Results and Conclusion : A total of 43 studies (6 domestic studies and 37 foreign ones) were examined according to the inclusion criteria of the experimental study. Research on the pharmacological activities of Insamyangyoung-tang showed its therapeutic effects on the nervous and immune systems, as well as its anti-aging, anti-fatigue, and hematopoietic effects. Additional efficacy and safety assessments and experimental and clinical studies should be performed to evaluate the mechanism of Insamyangyoung-tang. The present review has provided preliminary information for further studies on Insamyangyoung-tang.

        건조방법과 저장조건이 새싹보리의 대장균 저감과 품질 특성에 미치는 영향

        Due to their high nutritional value and functional content, barley sprouts are commonly ground into powder for human use. This study investigated the effect of drying methods, viz., hot-air drying (HAD), freeze-drying (FD), and infrared drying (IRD), and storage conditions for the removal of Escherichia coli quality parameters of barley sprouts. Herein, the barley sprouts were subjected to HAD, FD, and IRD and stored at different temperatures, such as -20, 4, and 25℃, for six months. The changes in the colony count of E. coli and food quality indicators, viz., Hunter color, chlorophyll, and saponarin, were measured once a month. The HAD and FD were found to reduce E. coli from 7 log CFU/g to 4 log CFU/g, whereas IRD eliminated them (limit of detection < 1 log CFU/g). In the case of HAD, the E. coli counts and the quality of dried leaves did not change significantly (p>0.05) for six months under all storage conditions. Freeze-dried leaves stored at 25 and 4℃ showed a decrease in E. coli counts from 4.5 to 1.2-1.5 log CFU/g after six months (p<0.05), and no significant change in quality during their storage was observed (p>0.05). In the case of infrared-dried samples, E. coli was not detected even after six months under all storage conditions, storing at -20℃ was the best condition for the chlorophyll content and Hunter color (p<0.05). On the other hand, the content of saponarin was constant regardless of the drying method and storage.

      • 1P-565 Precision glucose detection using conductive colloidal microparticles-arrayed sensing devices

        We introduce a novel colloidal glucose sensing platform from a bottom-up approach. The essence of our approach is to detect conductance changes resulting from the adsorption of glucose onto silver nanowires on the elastomer microparticles. For this, we decorate the surface of polyurethane (PU) microparticles with silver nanowires whose surface is decorated with 4-mercaptophenylboronic acid. The conductive PU microparticles were exactly 2-dimensionally positioned in a stencil. Then, deformation of the particles under constantly applied pressure is correlated with the change of conductance, thus enabling accurate detection of glucose concentration in the given solution. These results highlight that our colloidal glucose sensor plays an important role in achieving high sensitivity over a wide range of glucose concentrations while displaying reversible sensing performance.

However, the rise of virtual museums show diverse media programs from 3D presentations to interactive quizzes in order to enhance accessibility and education. Beyond institutional efforts, individual programmers contribute to using media platforms for broader accessibility. These advancements signify a promising pathway to engage diverse audiences and democratize cultural experiences within immersive digital environments. Moreover, this paper scrutinizes the challenges faced by museums in embracing the digital transformation including issues related to technological constraints, financial investments, and the need for specialized skills in curating digital content.

        대장암 수술 후 온열 목 마스크 적용이 구강건조와 인후통에 미치는 효과

        Purpose: This study aimed to identify the effect of warm scarf on xerostomia and sore throat in postoperative colon cancer patients. Methods: A total of 40 participants with colon cancer who underwent colon cancer operation over 2hours were included from C University hospital in Seoul. The number of experimental group and control group is each 20 calculated by G*Power, and they were assigned by using nonequivalent control group no-synchronized design. In the experimental group, a warm scarf was applied to the neck for 120 minutes from entering the recovery room after the colorectal cancer surgery was completed. In the experimental group and the control group, xerostomia and sore throat were measured twice at 60-minute intervals. The degree of xerostomia was measured through the degree of wetness of the absorbent paper in mm, and the degree of sore throat was measured through the NRS (Numeral Rating Scale). Data were collected using self-administered questionnaires from August 2018 to September 2020 and were analyzed using IBM SPSS/WIN 21.0 Descriptive statistics, x2 test, Fisher's exact test, t-test were used to determine the participant's characteristics. The effect of warm scarf on xerostomia and sore throat were separately estimated by Repeated Measures ANOVA. Results: The experimental group showed significant decrease of xerostomia and sore throat as time goes (p<.001). Conclusion: Results indicate that warm scarf on xerostomia and sore throat in postoperative colon cancer patients is helpful method for relieving side effect of tracheal intubation.
