        Correlationship among Smartphone Screen Time, Cervical Alignment, and Muscle Function in University Students

        Objective: The popularization of smartphones can lead to abnormal cervical alignment in university students. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship among smartphone screen time, cervical alignment, and muscle function in university students. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: Seventy-five university students participated in the study. They completed the evaluation of cervical alignment and muscle function, such as handgrip strength, proprioception, and muscle quality (tone, stiffness, and relaxation time). All participants recorded their general characteristics and individual smartphone screen time before the evaluation. They were evaluated craniovertebral angle (CVA) using smartphone application (angle meter 360) for measuring cervical alignment. The muscle function was assessed using a digital hand-held dynamometer, dual inclinometer, and MyotonPRO device. Results: Of all participants, twenty-five university students had forward head posture (CVA<49°, 33.33%). Independent t-test revealed that there were significant differences on smartphone screen time, muscle stiffness, and muscle relaxation between the participants with and without forward head posture (p<0.05). There were significant correlations between the smartphone screen time and the CVA, muscle tone, and muscle relaxation (r=-0.493, 0.250, and -0.500, respectively). Conclusions: The results indicate that the university students with forward head posture had high smartphone screen time and muscle stiffness compared to the students without forward head posture, and smartphone screen time might be associated with cervical alignment and muscle quality.

        상지신경가동화기법이 편마비 환자의 상지 기능에 미치는 효과

        본 연구는 상지신경가동화기법이 뇌졸중 환자의 상지기능에 미치는 효과를 평가하기 위해 실시되었다. 본 연구에 20명의 뇌졸중 환자가 참여하였다. 연구 대상은 뇌졸중 환자를 실험 군과 대조군으로 각각 10명씩 무작위로 배정하였다. 모든 환자들은 보존적 물리치료를 받았으며, 실험군에게 추가적으로 상지신경가동화기법이 10분 동안 시행되었다. 본 연구의 상지 평가 도구는 상지 운동 능력 평가(양적/질적), 상지 기능 검사(시간/기능), 장악력이 포함되었다. 측정은 중재 전, 4주 후 2번 실시하였다. 중재 후 실험군에서 상지 운동 능력 평가(양적 /질적), 상지 기능 검사(기능), 장악력에서 유의한 차이를 보였다(p < .05). 또한 대조군에서는 상지 운동 능력 평가(양적/질적)에서만 유의한 차이를 보였다(p < .05). 두 군 간의 중재 전과 중재 후의 상지 기능 평가 비교에서 상지 운동 능력 평가(양적/질적), 상지 기능 검사(기능), 장악력 검사에서 유의한 차이가 있었다(p < .05). 이는 상지신경가동화기법이 뇌졸중 환자의 상지 기능에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다는 것을 의미한다. 앞으로 이러한 연구 결과를 일반화시키는 것이 필요할 것이라고 사료된다. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of upper limb nuerodynamic mobilization technique on perceived upper limb function in patients with poststroke hemiparesis. 20 patients with post-stroke hemiparesis were recruited for this study. The subjects were randomly assigned to either the experimental group (EG) or the control group (CG), with 10 patients in each group. All subjects received a routine physical therapy. The mobilization technique of the upper limb neurodydnamic was performed for 10 min in the case of the EG subjects. The upper limb assessment tools of this study involved the motor activity log(MAL) (Quantity/Quality), manual function test(MFT) (Timing/Function), grip strength. The measurements were recorded 2 times: before the intervention and after 4 week the intervention. In the case of the EG subjects, the variables measured after the intervention significantly differed from MAL Quantity/Quality) and MFT (Function), grip strength measured before the intervention (p < .05). Also, in the case of the CG subjects, the variables measured after the intervention significantly differed from MAL (Quantity/Quality) (p < .05). In addition, there were significant differences in MAL(Quantity/Quality) and MFT(Function), grip strength at post test between the 2 groups (p < .05). The findings indicate that upper limb neurodynamic mobilization technique exerts a positive effect on upper limb function in patient with post stroke-hemiparesis. Further studies are required to generalize the result of this study.

        지역사회 보행 훈련이 뇌졸중 환자의 하지 근활성도 및 동적 균형 능력, 보행 척도에 미치는 효과

        본 연구는 뇌졸중으로 인한 편마비 환자에게 지역사회 보행 훈련과 트레드밀 보행 훈련을 적용하였을 때 하지 근활성도 및 동적 균형 능력, 보행 척도에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보기 위해서 실시하였다. 뇌졸중 환자 27명을 대상으로 지역사회 보행 훈련군 14명과 트레드밀 보행 훈련군 13명을 무작위로 배정하였다. 하지 근활성도 측정은 활동전위의 실효치 값으로 분석 하였고, 동적 균형 능력 검사와 6분 걷기 검사, 위스콘신 보행 척도를 사용하였다. 훈련은 6주 동안 1주일에 3회, 각 30분씩 지역사회 보행 훈련 군은 지역사회 훈련을 트레드밀 보행 훈련군은 트레드밀 보행 훈련을 실시하였다. 집단 내와 집단 간 비교를 위하여 대응표본 t-검정과 독립표본 t-검정을 시행하였다. 지역사회 보행 훈련군은 대퇴사두근, 슬괵근, 비복근, 전경골근의 근활성도, 동적 균형 능력, 6분 걷기 검사, 위스콘신 보행 척도에서 유의한 차이가 있었다(p < .05). 트레드밀 보행 훈련군은 대퇴사두근, 슬괵근, 비복근, 전경골근의 근활성도, 동적 균형 능력, 위스콘신 보행 척도에서 유의한 차이가 있었다(p <.05). 지역사회 보행 훈련 군과 트레드밀 보행 훈련군의 훈련 전후 비교에서 대퇴사두근, 슬괵근, 전경골근의 근활성도, 동적 균형 능력, 6분 걷기 검사, 위스콘신 보행 척도에서 유의한 차이가 있었다(p < .05). 이러한 결과는 지역사회 보행 훈련과 트레드밀 보행 훈련이 만성뇌졸중 환자의 하지 근활성도와 균형 능력 향상에 긍정적인 영향을 미치며, 트레드밀 보행훈련에 비해 지역사회 보행 훈련이 더 효율적일 수 있음을 의미한다. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of the performance of a certain community ambulation training on Muscle Activity of the Lower Extremities and Dynamic Balance Ability, Gait Scale in Stroke Patients. Twenty-seven chronic stroke patient participated. Participants were randomly divided into either community ambulation training group(n =14) and treadmill gait training group. for the lower limbs muscle activity, RMS of action potential were analyzed and dynamic balance test, 6 minute walk test, wisconsin gait scale. The training process included training 3 times a week for 6 weeks, 30 minutes per session. The data was analyzed using a paired t-test and independent t-test to determine the statistical significance. The statistical analysis showed significant differences for the Quadriceps, Hamstring, Gastrocnemius, Tibia anterior, Dynamic balance test, 6 minute walk test, Wisconsin gate cale for the walking community ambulation training group(p < .05). The treadmill training group showed significant differences for the Quadriceps, Hamstring, Gastrocnemius, Tibia anterior, Dynamic balance test, Wisconsin gate scale (p < .05). The statistical analysis showed significant differences in the change rate for the Quadriceps, Hamstring, Tibia anterior, Dynamic balance test, 6 minute walk test, Wisconsin gate scale for the walking community ambulation training group and treadmill training group(p < .05). These results show that walking community ambulation training and treadmill training have a positive effect on muscle activity of lower extremities and dynamic balance, and walking community ambulation training is more effective than treadmill training.

        LabView 기반 부분방전 분석장치의 설계 및 제작

        This paper dealt with the fabrication of a partial discharge (PD) analyzer for insulation diagnosis of power facilities like transformers, cables and gas-insulated switchgears. An analytic algorithm for the phase (${\phi}$), the magnitude (q), and the pulse count (n) of PD pulse was designed and a time-frequency (TF) map algorithm was applied in the system to eliminate noises by analyzing the time and the frequency component of signals. All the algorithms were operated by a LabView graphical program. The detection circuit consists of a coupling capacitor, a detection impedance, and a low noise amplifier. A plane-plane and a point-plane electrode system were fabricated to simulate different types of insulation defects. In the experiment, we could easily understand the characteristics of PD pulses using the prototype PD analyzer.

        Effects of Combined Cognitive and Physical Exercise Program on Cognitive and Physical Functions in Older Adults with Mild Cognitive Impairment

        Objective: This study aimed to investigate the impact of a 12-week combined cognitive and physical exercise program on cognitive and physical functions in older adults diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Design: A one-group pretest-posttest study. Methods: Twelve participants with MCI engaged in a weekly 60-minute session of combined cognitive and physical exercise program. Cognitive function was assessed using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), while physical function was evaluated through measures of muscle strength, postural balance, and walking capabilities. Muscle strength assessments included the arm curl test, handgrip strength, and the 5 sit-to-stand test. Postural balance was evaluated using the one-leg stance test, timed up-and-go test, functional reach test, and four square step test. Walking function was analyzed through a gait analysis device. Pre- and post-intervention measurements were compared to determine the effects of the exercise program. Results: The results demonstrated significant improvements in MoCA, arm curl test, timed up-and-go test, walking speed, and cadence following the 12-week intervention (p<0.05). MoCA scores revealed enhanced cognitive performance, while measures of muscle strength, including the arm curl test, exhibited significant changes. Improvements in timed up-and-go test scores indicated enhanced mobility, accompanied by increased walking speed and cadence, as evidenced by gait analysis. Conclusions: This study suggests that a structured 12-week program incorporating both cognitive and physical exercises can lead to meaningful improvements in cognitive and physical functions among older adults with MCI.

        This paper described the application of light emitting diode (LED) to a vessel luminaire. We fabricated a flush type 22 [W] LED luminaire which considered electrical, optical, and environmental requirements to replace a fluorescent lamp (FL) luminaire. The luminous efficacy of the prototype LED luminaire was 72 [lm/W] higher than 60 [lm/W] specified in KSC 7653. Compare to the conventional FL luminaire, the power consumption decreased by 60 [%] and the luminous flux increased by 33 [%].

        좌골신경가동화기법이 만성 요통 환자의 통증과 슬관절 신전근력에 미치는 영향

        The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of sciatic nerve mobilization technique on perceived pain, straight leg raise test (SLR), and strength of knee extensor, location of symptoms (LOS) in patients with chronic low back pain. 22 patients with chronic low back pain were recruited for this study. The subjects were randomly assigned to either the experimental group (EG) or the control group (CG), with 11 patients in each group. All patients received a routine physical therapy (hot pack and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation). The mobilization technique of the sciatic nerve was performed for 10 min in the case of the EG subjects. Outcome measurements included the level of the perceived pain, SLR, and strength of the knee extensor, LOS. The measurements were recorded 3 times: before the intervention, after the intervention, and at 1 hour of follow up. The two groups did not significantly differ with regard to the level of perceived pain, SLR, and strength of the knee extensor, LOS before the test (p>'05). In the case of the EG subjects, all the variables measured after the intervention significantly differed from those measured before the intervention (p<'05). The findings indicate that sciatic nerve mobilization technique exerts a positive effect on the control of subjective symptoms and knee strength in patients with chronic low back pain. Further studies are required to generalize the result of this study.
