This research, a preliminary study to develop Active Noise Barrier System as an alternative Reduction of Road Traffic Noise, indicates surveys and analysis of professional groups' attitudes and necessities based on previous researches and current technical users. Examinations with expert surveys are carried out to evaluate the level of technology, the possibilities of success, and the needs of the proposed system, listing core skills to establish Noise Barrier System and determining the prior knowledge for this research. Upon receiving requests from a domestic ANC level, the elevation is accounted as same as around 60%-70% of developed countries in most fields. However, the result of domestic strategies field indicates that ANC and Green Sound Barrier are the most effective. Also, according to the assesment about the possibilities of success on each technology, Active Noise Barrier System is highly evaluated, considering both developed Information Technology (IT) with its infra in Korea and bright potentials on accomplishment of ANC system including H/W and S/W.

Traffic noise annoyance in dwelling area like private houses and apartment is becoming very important issue nowadays in South Korea. In this paper frequency analysis of the traffic noise was performed. Based on sound pressure levels analyses and its frequency content specific requirements for component of active noise control systems are formulated. Active compensational loudspeaker, microphone front end and DSP design were analysed, considered and proposed. Components specifications and design solutions are verified using modelling and experimental technique.

In this paper survey and analysis of recent trends in noise barriers and noise measurements and assessments were conducted for providing design basis of ANC barriers. Looking at the results, transparent barrier(glass) has received the most attention in domestic and foreign countries, because it has a harmony with the surrounding environment and easy installation in a small space. For optimal barrier design using computer simulation, reliability of simulation has been verified and classified into 5 groups, according to barrier’s upper cross section. Evaluation results of barrier’s performance and design using computer simulation are as follows : In the case of the “B-type” barrier, it has improved maximum 2.5㏈(A) at each point(R1~R6) and have a good workability. Therefore, “B-type” Barriers applied to the next active noise barrier system will be possible.

It seems inevitable to adopt subways as an alternative to conventional urban transportations due to the limited capacity of current road conditions and rapid expansion of road traffics. New subway lines are being planned and constructed nation-wide and the noises and vibrations are unavoidable byproducts. This study aims at providing useful data in establishing noise attenuation strategy for improvement of the acoustic environment of subway internal space. 12 stations were selected by a screen test on a subway train. Subjective reaction of passengers at each station were investigated using questionnaires.

This paper applies an FXLMS Algorithm to analyze the degree of noise-reduction depending on the location of a secondary-sound source and error sensor from a 3-dimensional closed-space (anechoic room) by implementing a 125Hz labial. Based on the results, we conjugate the preliminary data in materializing active sound-insulated walls. The distance differences among 0.5m, 1.5m, 2.5m were measured in the analysis. In case of 1.5m from one of the distance difference, measured maximum of 18.3dB near 125Hz compared to other points (0.5m, 2.5m) in the aspect of active sound-insulated walls. Overall, at 80Hz ~200Hz values of sound illustrated a degree of 18.2dB(A) and installing compact active sound-insulated walls illustrated maximum of 18.3dB near 125Hz. Overall 80Hz∼200Hz values of sound demonstrated a diminution of noise effect of 18.2dB(A) and evaluated as the most stable distance difference.

Existing road noise proof walls are used to reduce or scatter various noises that are generated from driving vehicles. but existing noise proof walls have many problems in view of material and functional aspects. These problems become serious in maintenance cost, aesthetic views, noise reduction ratio when the deterioration of wall is partially or fully processed. To solve these disadvantages of existing noise proof wall, we will develop new-concept noise proofing walls by active noise control system. Active noise control system consists of electrical units and data processing algorithm and will be actively operated by sensing and processing the sound signals. In the studies, we will search existing research studies, will make optimal electric units and softwares, model and will carry out inner laboratory and on-site tests. In the future, The developed new-concept noise proofing walls will save the cost of maintenance and will share the related markets up to 10%. Also, we will apply this fundamental and advanced technologies to other industries and hope to export these to foreign countries in the ends.
