Sixty years has passed since 'New Literature' was incubated. The New Literature, which was sprouted by transplanting western literature on this sterile milieu for the western consciousness, has established present-day Korean literature through the bloody process. The fruits, however, are not so delicious as to be satisfied. This can be seen through the history of our literature. In this situation, however, we simply cannot and must not deny the heritage of the past. And besides, it is believed that we should search for the route for the present literature to follow in this tradition inherited to us tragically, not elsewhere. To help find the route, a research will be made on the literature of 'Choon-won' , the leader of our modern literature, especially on his novels from the two angles of their plots and thoughts. This will make the real face of 'Choon -won' novels clear. (This time only the plot will be dealt with, because of the space limit.)
