Central diabetes insipidus is a polyuric disorder that results from a lack of sufficient ADH to effect appropriate concentration of the urine for water conservation. It is divided into primary and secondary diabetes insipidus. The majority of secondary diabetes insipidus is caused by operation, neoplastic lesions of the pituitary and hypothalamus and head trauma. Secondary diabetes insipidus complicated with tuberculous meningitis is extremely rare. There have been several reports on diabetes insipidus but no reports on the disorder associated with tuberculous meningitis in Korea. We reported a patient of 38 year old male who developed diabetes insipidus during treatment of tuberculous meningitis and active pulmonary tuberculosis. Tuberculous meningitis was documented by clinical features, laboratory findings and therapeutic response, even though AFB smear of the cerebrospinal fluid was negative in the patient. Water deprivation and pitressin injection test revealed complete type of diabetes insipidus. We have followed this patient's status of diabetes insipidus up for one half year and he has been on 5 units of pitressin tannate in oil every 3 to 4 days. We think his status of diabetes insipidus in permanent.

Planar images of OH and $O_{2}$ with tunable KrF excimer laser which has a) 0.5 $cm^{-1}$ / linewidth, b) 0.5 nm tuning range, c) 150 mJ pulse energy, and d) 20 ns pulse width are obtained to determine spatial distributions of OH and $O_{2}$ in premixed $C_{3}$H$_{8}$ /O$_{2}$ flame. The technique is based on planar laser induced pre-dissociative fluorescence(PLIPF) in which collisional quenching is almost avoided because of the fast pre-dissociation. Dispersed LIPF spectra of OH and $O_{2}$ are also measured in a flame in order to confirm the excitation of single vibronic state of OH and $O_{2}$, OH and $O_{2}$ are excited on the P$_{2}$(8) line of the $A^{2}$.SIGMA.$^{+}$(v'= 3)-X$^{2}$.PI.(v'||'||'&'||'||'quot;= 0) band and R(17) line of the Schumann-Runge band B$^{3}$.SIGMA.$_{u}$ $^{[-10]}$ (v'= 0)- X$^{3}$.SIGMA.$_{g}$ $^{[-10]}$ (v'||'||'&'||'||'quot;= 6), respectively. Dispersed OH and $O_{2}$ spectra show an excellent agreement with simulated spectrum and previous works done by other group respectively. It is confirmed that OH widely distributed around flame front area than $O_{2}$.

강유전성 액정 분자 배향을 위해 열방성 고분자 액정물질을 배향막으로 사용하고 그표면 morphology를 AFM(Atomic Forced Microscope)으로 관찰한 결과 잘 배향된 sample cell에서도 microgroove 구조가 나타나지 않았음을 관찰하였다. 잘 배향된 sample cell 23:1의 contrast ratio를 보이면서 memory 효과를 나타내었다. 또한 20V의 AC field로 안정화시키자 전형적인 stripe-shaped 무늬가 나타났다. Thermotropic liquid crystalline polymer(LCP) has been used for the alignment of ferroelectric liquid crystal (FLC) molecules and the surface morphology of the resulting polymeric thin film has been observed by atomic forced microscope. The uniform alignment of FLC molecules on the surface of thermotropic LCP thin film was obtained even though microgroove structures were not formed. The contrast ratio of sample cell was about 23:1 including two polarizers and a good memory capability due to the bistability of FLC was obtained. After AC field stabilization at 20V, the typical stripe-shaped patterns appeared.
