Almost low-rise reinforced concrete school structures are not applied in the seismic codes of Korea and seismic risks of existing reinforced concrete building are enlarging in Korea. Therefore, We have to provide effective earthquake preparedness against future earthquake to avoid a large seismic damage. For this reason, this paper has developed estimation method of seismic capacity for low-rise existing RC school structures. In this study, domestic and the other country's codes for estimation method of seismic capacity of existing RC school structure are briefly summarized and damaged school structures due to severe earthquake in Japan are examined. then, the feature of damaged school structures are analyzed for applying existing estimation method of seismic capacity. As the results, we proposed the new estimation method of seismic capacity through multiplying ductility index by first estimation index of seismic capacity, and the proposed estimation method is proved adequacy comparing to second estimation index of seismic capacity

Objectives:This study was undertaken to investigate the effects of the GGEx18 ethyl acetate fraction (EF) on lipid accumulation and gene expression of fatty acid-oxidizing enzymes using 3T3-L1 adipocytes, C2C12 skeletal muscle cells, and NMu2Li liver cells. Methods:PPARa, AMPK and UCPs transactivation was examined in NMu2Li hepatocytes, C2C12 myocytes, and 3T3-L1 preadipocytes using transient transfection assays. Results: 1. Compared with control, EF significantly increased the mRNA expression of VLCAD in 3T3-L1 adipocytes. 2. Compared with control, EF (0.1 ug/ml) significantly inhibited lipid accumulation in 3T3-L1 adipocytes. 3. EF significantly increased the mRNA expression of AMPKa1, AMPKa2 and PPARa in C2C12 skeletal muscle cells compared with control. 4. EF significantly increased the mRNA expression of genes involved in fatty acid b-oxidation, such as thiolase, MCAD, and CPT-1 in C2C12 skeletal muscle cells compared with control. 5. EF significantly increased the mRNA expression of UCP2 involved in energy expenditure in C2C12 skeletal muscle cells compared with control. 6. Compared with control, EF (10 ug/ml) significantly inhibited lipid accumulation in C2C12 skeletal muscle cells. 7. EF (10 ug/ml) significantly increased the mRNA expression of ACOX, HD, VLCAD and MCAD in NMu2Li liver cells compared with control. Conclusions:These results suggest that EF may prevent obesity by increasing the mRNA expression of mitochondrial fatty acid b-oxidizing enzymes in 3T3-L1 adipocytes, by not only regulating the fatty acid oxidation through activation of AMPK and PPARa, but also increasing the UCP2 mRNA expression in C2C12 skeletal muscle cells, and by stimulating the mRNA expression of fatty acid-oxidizing enzymes in NMu2Li liver cells.

A rotary vane blower was developed as an air supply system for fuel cell application. As one way of improving the blower efficiency, a roller was adapted between vanes and cylinder housing. The performance of blower was investigated experimentally. The blower power input was about 115W to compress the air at normal atmospheric condition to 0.2 bar with the flow rate of 140 NLPM, resulting in the blower overall efficiency of 43%. After 400 hours of operation, the performance of blower was not changed. The result showed that developed blower was confirmed to be suitable for fuel cell application.

A sensibility measurement system that can measure human sensibility at the automobile cabin environment is developed in this paper. Five kinds of sensors that can measure temperature, humidity, oxygen, CO_(2), and HC gas concentrations are used in this system. Sensibility indexes are defined for each sensor datum, and then those are linearly combined to make a total human sensibility index. A stand-alone system is manufactured using a one-chip microprocessor, and simple controls are showed with LEDs. This system was tested for performance in automobile cabin environment and showed good reliability.

Effect of vortex generator on the heat transfer enhancement of electronic chips is investigated using naphthalene sublimation technique. Experiments are performed for a single chip and chip arrays, and shape of vortex generator, position of vortex generator, stream wise chip spacing and air velocity are varied. Local and average heat transfer coefficients are measured on the top surface of simulated electronic chips, and compared with those obtained without vortex generator. In case of a single chip, heat transfer augmentation is seen only on the upstream portion of chip surface, while heat transfer enhancement is found on the whole surface for chip arrays. Rectangular wing type vortex generator is found to be more effective than delta wing.

전도성 고분자 센서 어레이를 이용한 휘발성 유기 화합물 가스 인식

휘발성 유기 화합물 가스(Volatile Organic Compounds)를 인식하고 분석하기 위하여 전도성 고분자 센서어레이를 이용한 시스템을 제작하였다. Polypyrrole와 Polyaniline을 화학중합법으로 센서에 전도성고분자막을 형성하였고 이를 통해 VOC 검지용 센서 어레이를 제작하였다. 센서어레이로부터 측정되는 다차원 데이터는 주성분분석법(PCA)과 RBF(Radial Basis Function Network)을 이용하였다. 제안된 시스템으로 VOCs 가스를 인식하는데 있어서 RBF Network이 PCA방식보다 더욱 효율적인 것으로 판단되었다. We fabricated gas recognition system using conducting polymer sensor array for recognizing and analyzing VOCs(Volatile Organic Compounds) gases. The polypyrrole and polyaniline thin film sensors which were made by chemical polymerization were employed to detect VOCs. The multi-dimensional sensor signals obtained from the sensor array were analyzed using PCA(principal component analysis) technique and RBF(radial basis function) Network. Throughout the experimental trails, we confirmed that RBF Network is effective than PCA technique in identifying VOCs.
