Hwatae island is located in the southern entrance of Kamak bay,and the aquaculture area around it is a productive sea. The seasonal characteristics of water quality was studied from Feb.,1994 to Oct.,1994 around aquaculture area in Hwatae island.The results are as follows: 1) The characteristics of water quality around aquaculture area showed that autochthonous contribution was higher than that from neighbor sea area as Kamak bay and western-south sea. 2) Chemical oxygen demand(COD) was the lowest mean value of 0.92㎎/ℓ on surface of autumn season in the range of 0.27~1.58,while it was the highest of 1.68㎎/ℓ on bottom of spring season in the range of 0.65~2.80㎎/ℓ.And,which mean that almost area studied is in the eutrophic environment. 3) Nutrients were the lowest value on both layer of spring season except nitrogen on bottom layer of same season. 4) N/P ratios were lower than 16 of Redfield ratio in the almost season with the range of 4.51~11.25 except of bottom layer at spring and summer season. It mean that nitrogen is more limiting constituent than phosphorous in the growth of phytoplankton. 5) Eutrophication indices were high in the almost season expect summer in the range of 0~1.37. If mean that wide area of aquaculutre around Hwatae island is in the condition of eutrophication.And,chemical oxygen demand was considerable parameter to determine eutrophication index in the almost season,while dissolved inorganic nitrogen(DIN) and dissolved inorganic phosphorous(DIP) were the same in the winter and spring,and autumn, respectively.

The structure of the RC structure is actively reinforcing the structure of the building which has suffered from aging, artificial and natural damage of the building. Among various reinforcement methods, epoxy adhesive is used to attach FRP in FRP reinforcement method which is reinforcing by attaching FRP to the structural part. At this time, the epoxy adhesive having a low critical temperature has a sudden adhesive failure upon exposure to heat, and thus, the development of an inorganic fireproof adhesive having a high critical temperature has progressed. Therefore, in this study, the compositional change of inorganic fire - resistant adhesive exposed to high temperature heat was analyzed by XRD.

PAHs(Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons) are widespread contaminants in the marine environment. They are of mainly anthropogenic origin from urban runoff, oil spill and combustion of fossil fuels. Some PAHs are potentially carcinogenic and mutagenic to aquatic organism. The surface sediments core sediments were collected at 12 stations with gravity corer from May, 1998 to July, 1999. PAHs were detected at all of the surface and core sediments. Total PAHs concentrations in the surface sediments ranged from 171.40 to 1013.54㎍/㎏ dry wt.. Almost of the surface sediments, naphthalene was the highest in the range of 14.08 to 691.39㎍/㎏ dry wt. and anthracene was the lowest in the range of 0.49 to 22.66㎍/㎏ dry wt. Total PAHs concentrations in the core sediments ranged from 275.04 to 2838.62㎍/㎏ dry wt.. Naphthalene was the highest concentration in the range of 40.60 to 2294.06㎍/㎏ dry wt. and anthracene was the lowest concentration(2.63-11.30㎍/㎏ dry wt.). Most of the PAHs profiles in the outer site of Gwangyang bay showed lower concentrations and fluctuations than the inner bay. The correlation coefficients between individual PAHs and Total PAHs in the surface and core sediments were relatively higher in the low molecular compounds such as naphthalene, acenaphthylene and phenanthrene. In the relationship of the P/A(Phenanthrene/Anthracene) ratio and F/P(Fluoranthene/Pyrene) ratio, P/A ratio was generally above 10 and F/P ratio was displayed to above 1 in all sediment samples. These data indicate that PAHs in sediments around Kwangyang bay seem to be of both pyrolytic and petrogenic origin.

In this study, compressive strength was measured to evaluate the initial strength of cement mortar substituted with coal gasification slag containing desulfurized gypsum, and the reactivity of desulfurized gypsum was confirmed. In order to improve the reactivity, 2% gypsum mixed type and gypsum unfedged type specimens were fabricated and the influence of desulfurization gypsum on compressive strength of coal gasification slag and blast furnace slag fine powder replacement cement mortar was compared and confirmed. As a result of the experiment, it was confirmed that the initial compressive strength of the specimen containing the desulfurized gypsum was improved at the initial stage.

In this study, the initial strength reduction of coal gasification slag fine powders was confirmed through previous studies when used in cement formulations. It is also confirmed that the blast furnace slag is mixed with cementitious coal blast furnace slag, which is similar to coal gasification slag, to incorporate gypsum in order to prevent initial strength deterioration. In order to analyze the reactivity of coal gasification slag by desulfurization gypsum, the formation of hydrates and their reactivity at early ages were confirmed by electron microscope. In order to confirm the reactivity, the gypsum samples were prepared with unincorporated type and 2% mixed type. Experimental results showed that 2% of the desulfurized gypsum specimens reacted more actively than the uninjured ones.

This study was performed to characterize the seasonal fluctuation of sediment quality from January 26 to October 8, 1994 around northern port of Mokpo. Which is located in northern part of Mokpo harbour of Korea. The results are as follows: Ranges of ignition loss(IL) were 3.41~15.75%, and showed the highest mean value of 6.51% in surface sediment of spring season. Chemical oxygen demand(COD) concentrations showed the highest mean value of 9.90㎎/g-dry in surface sediment of spring season, while did the lowest mean value of 5.32㎎/g-dry in surface sediment of autumn season. Total sulfide(S) were in the range of ND~3.39㎎/g-dry, and showed the highest mean value of 1.22㎎/g-dry in surface sediment of summer season(June). COD and IL were higher at spring season, but S was higher at summer and autumn season(June). COD was lower than the standard of sediment quality, while S was higher than it in almost all area at summer and autumn season. Concentration ranges of cadmium and copper were ND~0.08㎎/㎏-wet, and 0.32~8.70㎎/㎏-wet., repectively. Those of lead and zinc were 0.97~10.45㎎/㎏-wet. and 5.55~27.84㎎/㎏-wet., respectively.

This study was performed to characterize the seasonal fluctuation of water quality and sediment environment from september, 1993 to August, 1994 in Kamak bay. Which was a productive area, but recently its fisheries conditions have been deteriorated because of increasing wastewater from municipal area, industry and autochthonous pollution by farm industry. In the survey of seawater quality, DO and COD concentrations were lowest in bottom layer at summer, but DIN, DIP and Si contents in same layer were higher than those in surface layer.And,which mean deminerization process of organic material in the bottom layer. N/P ratios were lower than 16 of Redfield ratio in the almost area with the range of 0.24~25.25. It mean that nitrogen is more controlling constituent than phosphorous in the growth of phytoplankton. Eutrophication indices mean that eutrophication area move from south to north entrance via northern-west inner area with seasonal change from winter to summer. In the survey of sediment environment, ignition loss(IL), chemical oxygen demand(COD) and total sulfide(S) were in the range of 5.02~21.11%, 1.80~44.73㎎/g-dry and 0.00~16.76㎎/g-dry, respectively. COD and S in surface sediment were highest at summer and autumn, respectively. And, they were higher than sediment standard in the northern-wast inner area, which mean heavily polluted conditions with organic constituents. And, COD and IL, COD and S showed relatively good relationship, whose coefficients were 0.65 and 0.73, respectively.
