The effects of we treatments on the stregth, birefringence and viscosities of cold-drawn nylon-6 were studied. The results were as follows; 1. Wet heat treatment changes tensile properties; it lowers the force to elongate yarns up to 20%. The higher the treating temperature, the lower the force needed to elongate the yarn. 2. Chemical change does not occur. 3. Wet heat treatment makes the birefringence to increase. The higher the concentration of a dye the more increase of birefringence appears, but it does not improve yarn quality.
6-Nylon의 염색에 관한 연구 -연신배율이 염색속도에 미치는 영향-
정후영,김노수 한국섬유공학회 1972 한국섬유공학회지 Vol.9 No.1
Dyeing rate studies have been carried out with anionic dyestuffs corresponding C.I. Acid Blue 62 and C.I. Acid Blue 127 on a range of 6-nylon samples of various degrees of orientation. Their birefringence and shrinkage halve also been studied and the relation between dyeing rate and tension has been analysed. It was found that the dyeing rate decreased in accordance with the increment of draw ratio.
Large Deformation Behavior of Twin-Induced Plasticity Steels Under High-Pressure Torsion

A high-manganese twinning-induced plasticity (TWIP) steel is processed by high-pressure torsion (HPT) forup to 1 turn under 6 GPa pressure. The HPT-processed TWIP steels exhibit a homogeneous microstructure witha peak hardness of Hv 550. Deformation twinning is developed significantly in the early stage of the sheardeformation, but is exhausted soon after 1/2 turn. The strength of the HPT-processed TWIP steel significantlyincreased due to the accumulation of dislocations, but elongation dramatically decreased due to a lack of dislocationsavailable for plastic deformations. An analysis of the evolution of strength by imposed large strain underhigh pressure suggests that strain hardening due to dislocation and twinning is exhausted in the early stages ofthe HPT process. Further strategy for enhancing both strength and ductility is proposed.

Abstract: Two Al-Mg alloys were subjected to extrusion for fabricating ferrules and the mechanical behavior of the extruded ferrules was investigated. To estimate the proper extrusion conditions, the power dissipation efficiency and plastic instability of the Al-Mg alloys were assessed by the construction of deformation processing maps. The Al-1.5Mg alloy ferrule had a higher work hardening capacity than the Al-0.9Mg alloy ferrule, which resulted in a higher load bearing capacity in the former during the extension test of wire rope slings.
