문화적 콘텍스트에 의한 한국 제품디자인의 특성 분석 연구

본 논문은 현대의 디자인에 한국문화가 어떠한 방법으로 표현되고 소비되고 있는지 그 특성을 고찰해 보고자 한다. 구체적으로 문화 전이 디자인 분석 모델을 개발하고 분석의 틀을 토대로 한국 제품디자인의 문화층위별 특성을 분석하고자 한다. 연구방법은 첫째, 문헌고찰을 통해 문화의 의미와 문화 3층위 구조에 대해 고찰하고, 한국예술의 현대디자인 적용 방법에 관한 논문들을 분석하여 한국예술의 현대 제품디자인 적용방법 분석 모델을 개발하였다 둘째, 사례분석으로 한국문화 콘텍스트에 기반 한 현대디자인 제품 16개를 선정하여 문화전이 3층위 모델로 분석하였다. 물리적, 행동적, 성찰적 요소 가운데 가장 많이 응용되고 있는 방법은 행동적 요소의 생활문화 적용 측면에서의 재창조로 나타났다. 이는 한국전통문화의 맥락을 적용하되 장식을 위한 목적보다 현대생활의 실용적 · 기능적 측면에서의 상품 가치에 비중에 두고 사용되고 있음을 알 수 있다. 성찰적 요소에서 재창조의 방법도 많이 사용되고 있었는데, 이는 전통적 가치를 재해석하여 한국전통문화에 대한 관심을 이끌어내고 이를 통해 브랜드 이미지 향상을 통해 차별화하려는 것으로 해석할 수 있다. This paper attempts to explore the characteristics of Korean culture in contemporary design and how it is expressed and consumed. Specifically, a design analysis model for cultural transfer will be developed and the characteristics of Korean product design by cultural level will be analyzed. As for the research method, first, the meaning of culture and the structure of the third level of culture were reviewed through literature review, and an analysis model of the application method for modern Korean product design was developed by analyzing papers on the application method of modern design of Korean art. As a case study, 16 modern design products based on the context of Korean culture were selected and analyzed as a third-level cultural transition model. Among the physical, behavioral, and reflective elements, the most widely applied method was re-creation in the aspect of behavioral elements to living culture. It can be seen that this applies the context of traditional Korean culture, but is used by putting emphasis on the product value in the practical and functional aspects of modern life rather than the purpose for decoration. The re-creation method was also widely used in reflective elements, which can be interpreted as trying to differentiate through reinterpretation of traditional values to draw interest in Korean traditional culture and to improve the brand image through this.

한국예술의 이해와 현대디자인으로의 적용을 위한 융합교과목 개발 연구

본 논문은 2019학년 1학기 한국예술의 미적 특성을 이해하고 현대디자인에 적용하는 디자인교육을 위해 개설된 〈한국예술과 디자인〉수업의 디자인 결과물을 분석하기 위해 시작되었다. 본 연구의 목적은 한국예술의 미적 특성과 본질에 대한 이해가 디자인전공 학생들에게 미친 영향 및 효과에 대해 파악하는 것으로, 연구결과는 한국적 정체성을 가르치는 디자인 실기 교과목을 위한 기초자료를 제공하고 디자인학과의 교수법 개발에도 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다. 수강생의 결과물과 한국예술의 미적 특성과 본질에 대한 이해와 인식이 디자인전공 학생에게 미친 영향에 대한 설문한 결과 첫째, 전통의 직설적 적용보다는 형태적 추상이나 개념적 적용을 더 많이 시도하고 있어, 한국예술의 미적 특성에 대한 기본적 이해가 중요한 것으로 파악되었다. 둘째, 한국예술에 대한 인식의 변화와 이해가 디자인 창작과정에 도움이 되었으며, 이는 다양한 아이디어 도출이 결과물에 영향을 미친 정도, 수업 후 디자인 작업에 도움이 된 정도, 수업 후 창의적 발상에 도움이 된 정도와도 정적상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 〈한국예술과 디자인〉수업에 대한 만족도가 높을수록 수업 이후 디자인 작업의 창의적 발상에 좋은 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나 한국예술에 대한 충분한 이해 과정을 거쳐 수업만족도를 향상하는 방안이 필요한 것으로 파악되었다. 따라서, 학생은 예술과 디자인 융합 방법에 대한 이해도를 높이고, 교수진들은 현대디자인의 적용을 위한 방법론과 교재를 개발하고, 현대적으로 재해석된 디자인 사례에 대한 유형 및 체계화 작업이 필요하다고 판단된다. The purpose of this study is to analyze the final works of the students and to figure out how understanding on the aesthetic characteristics of Korean arts have effects on the design works and satisfaction of the students. The methodology including literature review, analysis of the students’ works, data survey including questionnaire were used. The results are the followings. First, most students tried abstraction of forms or concept application rather than the direct application of the tradition itself. Second, understanding on the Korean arts are effective for creative design process and showed significant relationships among idea development and the final works, design after the course and creativity. Third, the statistics showed that the higher the satisfaction of the students on this course, the better the influence on the creative idea developments. In conclusion, it is required for the students to have a process to understand the methods of applying to modern design and the professors need to develop the teaching materials for effective methodology.
