Inflation in Korea is the chronic phenomenon which has consistantly lasted since the Liberation of Korea, and its cause has taken not a certain elemntal respect but a complex tendency. As Korean economy recorded the high growth in '70s the wage of worker has increased as much, and from 1916 it exceeded the labor productivity and came to result in the cost push inflation by increasing the enterprises' personal expenditure. The wage rise enlarged from the large enterprises to the small and medium enterprises and induced the uprise of the goods price of the latter. It resulted from the productivity gap between the large enterprices and small according to the scale of enterprise. As the above - mentioned facts, real wage level still lies in t he poor situation. When we examine the relativity between price and wage more macroscopically, we can not make out the fact precisely if we simply study the existing average wage leval and existing rate of employment as the objects. In addition to the present employees, it is effective to study the annual employees, seasonal employees, and day - workers together with prices fluctuations. That is, it practically intends to inquire into not only the quantitative wage level but the whole stability of worker's living. As though the price level has fallen to some degree in comparison with a given monetary wage, we cannot avoid the practical decline of the frequent reduction of operation and opportunity of unemployment. In fact, it is essential that the economic development is followed by the wage increase, therefore the cause of stagflation is naturally attributed to the wage increase as a factor of cost push. As already known, the wage-hike exceeding the labor productivity surpressesthe price severely. In the price - decision behavior of the enterprise, it agg-ravates the burden of the personal expenditures. The present extreme decline of Korean economy is caused by the wage rise, which resulted from the increase of external labor productivity according the exploitation of the available resources, which has not accompanied with the technical advance during the '70 s of high growth. Especially, the demand of the large enterprises for the high -educated human resources has accelerated the wage rise. But in the light of the several aspects in Korea such as the structure of labor market, wage level, and working condition, these problems can be solved, at last in the long - term, through the improvement of labor productivity. It is no doubt that only the effort for the improvement of labor productivity exceeding the wage rise is the great task which Korean economy races up to.
