        슬래밍 충격 압력 계산을 위한 선수선저의 형상계수 추정에 관한 연구

        On the slamming analysis of ship design the data for the impact pressure acted on the forward bottom of a ship are needed. Furthermore impact pressure is given by the function of both the hull form coefficient and relative velocity. In this papper. a simplified method to estimate hull form coefficient by perso;,al computer (p. c.) is studied. This numerical analysis was applied to the model of the Mariner type. and then the result by the p. c. was compared with that by IBM 7090 computer. Main results obtained are as follows: 1. The result by the developed p. c. method had fairly good agreement with that by conventional large computer (IBM 7090) within 2% error. 2. This developed method' by p. c. may be applied to the initial estimation of the K-value because of the close agreement between the ship lines by the results of p. c. and that of input.

        Comparison of system performance on hot-gas bypass and variable speed compressor in an oil cooler for machine tools

        This paper compares the system performance for two representative capacity control schemes, hot-gas bypass and variable speed compressorin an oil cooler for machine tools. An empirical linear first-order model of each controlled system was obtained from experimentsby imposing a stepwise control signal to each actuator of the system. General proportional-integral controllers are designed based on theempirical transfer function models in order to control the target temperature of the oil cooler system. The experiments of starting andthermal load change were conducted to compare their control performance with each other. Especially, coefficient of performance (COP)of the two control schemes under the partial load state was also analyzed in detail. From the analyses of experimental results, the controlperformance of the target temperature in the two control schemes had almost the same control accuracy of ±0.1 oC at steady state. However,the COP of a variable speed compressor was as many as five-times greater than that of hot-gas bypass in comparable minimumpartial load state of 0.5 kW.

        John Keats’s Creative Skepticism: In Relation to William Hazlitt’s and David Hume’s Ideas

        Cheong, Seok Kweon. “John Keats’s Creative Skepticism in Relation to William Hazlitt’s and David Hume’s Ideas.” Studies in English Language & Literature. 37.2 (2011): 165-83. In this paper John Keats’s idea of poetic self or the personal identity is explored in relation to William Hazlitt’s and David Hume’s ideas. The main argument of this paper is that Keats has expressed his creative skepticism in many of his letters and poems, and that Keats’s ideas have been influenced by Hazlitt’s and Hume’s ideas. To understand Keats’s creative skepticism more fully, Hazlitt’s ideas on self-love and natural disinterestedness will be discussed as a relevant ideas to Keats’s ideas expressed in such famous passages as “the vale of soul making” and “negative capability.” Further, Hume’s “mitigated” skepticism revealed especially in Book I of A Treatise of Human Nature will be introduced in some length as a background information. As a result of this process, I would hope that we can understand Keat’s ideas about meaning and value of being a poet in this world. (Chonbuk National University)

        Zen Buddhistic Approach to G. M. Hopkin's Poetry

        Cheong, Seok-Kweon. “Zen Buddhistic Approach to G. M. Hopkins’s Poetry.” Studies on English Language & Literature. 33.4(2007): 113-127. The aim of this paper is to read some poems of G. M. Hopkins in the context of Zen Buddhism. Though it seems somewhat irrelevant to study Hopkins’s “Christian” poems in relation to Zen Buddhism, this approach could appreciate Hopkins’s poems in a new perspective, and also could bridge the gap between the Eastern and Western ideas. The enlightened Zen mind transcends cause and effect, connects past and present, and does not distinguish between ordinary and holy. Hopkins showed through his poems revolt against such mutually exclusive dualism as the world of becoming and the world of Being, spirit and matter, and so on. Thus Zen Buddhistic approach to Hopkins’s poetry reveals that through his revolt against dualism and the quest toward the vision of wholeness, Hopkins tried to liberate man’s consciousness from the spiritual dungeon of Cartesian dualism typical of the Western thought.         상태공간 모델링에 의한 오일쿨러의 Robust LQG 제어기 설계

        본 연구에서는 냉동사이클로 구성된 오일쿨러의 실용적인 저차원 상태공간 모델을 제시하고, 이에 기반한Robust LQG 서보 제어기를 설계하여 시뮬레이션 및 실험을 통해 그 타당성을 검증하였다. 본 연구의 주요결과들을 요약하면 다음과 같다. (1) 냉동사이클을 구성하는 장치의 사양으로부터 해석적인 모델을 구축하고, 제어량에 미치는 영향이 미미한상태변수들을 소거하여 저차원(4×4)의 실용적인 상태방정식 모델을 유도하였다. 유도된 상태공간 모델의타당성은 시뮬레이션과 실험을 통해 입증되었다. (2) 설계한 LQG 제어기에 의한 제어 정도는 주된 제어량인 오일출구온도의 경우 기동 시에는 ±0.1℃, 열부하변동 시에는 ±0.05℃의 오차 범위로 정밀하게 제어됨을 보였다. 한편 과열도의 경우는 기동 시에 ±1℃, 열부하 변동 시에 ±0.5℃의 정상상태오차를 갖는 것으로 나타나 우수한 추종성을 보였다. (3) LQG 제어기는 하중행렬의 변화에 따라 원하는 제어 정도와 제어 입력 간의 상충 문제를 조절하여 설계자가원하는 제어 성능의 최적화를 달성할 수 있음을 확인하였다. (4) LQG 제어기의 칼만필터는 프로세스 및 측정 잡음 하에서도 센서로 측정하기 어려운 상태변수 값들을엄밀히 추정할 수 있음을 확인하였다. This paper presents a robust LQG controller design method by a state space model to improve control performance of a refrigeration cycle under process and measurement noise. First, a state-space model of an oil cooler is derived as a 4th order system equation using several governed equations based on a moving boundary model. Next, the LQG controller which uses the Kalman filter is designed using linear quadratic regulator (LQR) gain and the Kalman gain to minimize an evaluation function and the individual influence of noise. We can independently determine the two gains of LQR and Kalman by the Riccati equation using the separation theorem. If the weighted matrices of the evaluation function are designed to satisfy the desired control performance and energy condition input, the designer conclusively determines LQR gain. Finally, the validity of the proposed design method is validated by computer simulations and real experiments in several cases. The results of some of the simulation and experiments showed that the proposed method can be implemented as a robust control.

        Problem of Self-Consciousness: A Study on John Keats’s Scotland Sonnets

        The aim of this study is to examine and analyze Keats’s Scotland sonnets written during his Scotland walking tour which represents the turning point in his poetic career. For Keats, the tour had very complex motivation, background, and results. Especially the sonnets regarding Burns memorials in Scotland allegorize the crisis of his poetic identity. Keats’s crisis of self-consciousness was intensified by his confronting the residence of William Wordsworth and the actual circumstances of Robert Burns. Keats’s realization at Burns’s memorials of entangled web of human miseries and aesthetic perceptions did not resolve the problem. Rather, it put him more deeply into the problem of self-consciousness.

        A Study on John Keats’s “Bright Star”: Steadfastness and Dynamics of Keats’s Sonnet

        John Keats, throughout his short poetic career used the sonnet form. The sonnet, to Keats, is an appropriate form which, with its unresolved juxtaposition of contraries, questions the adequacy of symbols, and repudiates the fetishistic formalism which considers art-product as self-sufficient, sacrosanct object. In the sonnet “Bright Star,” which is considered as Keats’s last sonnet, life and death are equally valid and thus ambivalent alternatives. Instead of making an organized whole in which the form is symbolically reconciled with the content and the poem transcend history, Keats’s use of the sonnet form fashions the poetic self as liminal space and allegorically reflects his career-thinking in the context of the contemporary cultural milieus. His restless self-fashioning and experimenting with the limits of the identity on the sonnets made him thoroughly a poet of his own age.
