Objectives Firefighters and rescue workers are likely to be exposed to a variety of traumatic events; as such, they are vulnerable to the risk of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The psychometric properties of the Korean version of the PTSD Checklist (PCL), a widely used self-report screening tool for PTSD, were assessed in South Korean firefighters and rescue workers. Methods Data were collected via self-report questionnaires and semi-structured clinical interviews administered to 221 firefighters. Internal consistency, item-total correlation, one-week test-retest reliability, convergent validity, and divergent validity were examined. Content validity of the PCL was evaluated using factor analysis and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analyses were used to estimate the optimal cutoff point and area under the curve. Results The PCL demonstrated excellent internal consistency (${\alpha}=0.97$), item-total correlation (r = 0.72-0.88), test-retest reliability (r = 0.95), and convergent and divergent validity. The total score of PCL was positively correlated with the number of traumatic events experienced (p < 0.001). Factor analysis revealed two theoretically congruent factors: re-experience/avoidance and numbing/hyperarousal. The optimal cutoff was 45 and the area under the ROC curve was 0.97. Conclusions The Korean version of the PCL may be a useful PTSD screening instrument for firefighters and rescue workers, further maximizing opportunities for accurate PTSD diagnosis and treatment.
관상 동맥 내 혈류 측정용 초소형 열식 유량 센서의 디자인

The aim of this study is to develop a flexible micro thermal flow sensor that is able to equipped on the guide wire for direct measuring of hemodynamically significant stenosis in coronary artery. Fractional flow reserve (FFR), the widely used diagnosis method for stenosis, is for measuring blood pressure within artery, but is not able to detect the change in blood flow, directly. In this study, the flow simulation was conducted in order to design the micro thermal flow sensor consisted with one micro heater and two RTD sensors located on either side of the heater. And the temperature difference between them was visualized according to the velocity of blood flow. The micro flow sensor electrodes which are made of Copper were fabricated on a polyimide film using a selective laser sintering (SLS) method. Our work can be devoted to the early diagnosis of coronary artery-related disease.
MEMS 칩과 휴대형 전기화학적 신호 처리 시스템을 이용한 수중 비소이온 검출

In this study, we have developed an arsenic ion detection system capable of measuring low concentrations of arsenic ions by electrochemical methods. A sensor chip having three electrodes of a working electrode, a counter electrode, and a reference electrode was designed and fabricated using microfabrication techniques. Also, we developed a portable signal processing board capable for anodic stripping voltammetry. Various types of electrolytes were used to detect arsenic with concentrations of < 10 ppb, the World Health Organization’s guideline for arsenic standard. The preliminary test results were analyzed, and compared with the results using commercially available sensors. A total analysis time using the developed arsenic measurement system was < 1 minute, including the time to concentrate samples. Our work can be applied to the measurement or monitoring of arsenic ion contamination level in many health hazard water sources.
