The characteristics of a hybrid air-conditioning system, utilizing natural and mechanical ventilation, is investigated in an office setting. The application of this hybrid air-conditioning system in intermediate seasons of Spring and Autumn, is expected to improve the indoor air quality (IAQ) on the one hand, and lower the energy consumption on the other. For designing datum of hybrid air-conditioning system, the characteristics of the indoor environment are examined with CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulation under various conditions of incoming outdoor air temperature for natural cross ventilation. Cooling load of the mechanical air-conditioning system to maintain the task zone at the target temperature (26℃) is analyzed based on the results of these simulations. When the outdoor air of lower temperature than the indoor air flows into the room, it drops near the window opening because of the negative buoyancy effect in the room and cools the task zone energy efficiently.

The long-term care insurance for the elderly system was officially implemented in July 2008, following a 3-year pilot program starting in 2005. The purpose of this system was to improve the quality of life of seniors and reduce the burden of care among family members, given the growing elderly population. By 2021, the scale of the system had increased by two to four times, with 860,000 beneficiaries and 9,824,800,000,000 KRW worth of insurance benefits. In line with this increase, it is necessary to efficiently establish and improve the system so that it can directly meet the medical needs of the beneficiaries. This may serve to reduce the rapidly increasing expenditure related to the elderly medical expenses, which in turn leads to a decrease in societal costs. In conclusion, senior care needs to be properly established and implemented in order to create organic intra- and inter-field connections between medicine, healthcare, and welfare.

새집증후군에 의한 실내공기 오염문제가 사회적 이슈가 되면서 실내공기질에 대한 세간의 관심이 크게 증가되었다. 이로 인해 정부에서는 새집증후군의 해결을 위하여 2006년 2월 13일에 ‘건축물의 설비 기준 등에 관한 규칙을 개정하여 환기 횟수 0.7회/h 이상의 자연환기설비 또는 기계환기설비의 설치를 의무화하였다. 주택의 경우 새집증후군의 원인물질인 VOC, 폼알데하이드(HCHO)외에도 다양한 오염물질이 존재한다. 따라서 실내의 적정 환기량은 새집증후군 물질만이 아니라 다양한 실내공기 오염물질을 대상으로 분석하여 종합적인 판단을 할 필요가 있다. 특히 이산화탄소는 실내공기 오염의 척도로 사용되는 대표 오염물질이다. 이동주 등은 CO2를 오염원으로 하여 실험한 결과 환기횟수 0.6회/h (30CMH)로는 환기를 효과적으로 하기에 부적절하며, 3인이 재실하는 경우의 효과적인 환기를 위한 환기량으로 1.2회/h (60CMH)를 제안하였다.

The performance of a hybrid air-conditioning system which utilizes wind-induced cross ventilation is investigated in the office setting. The characteristics of flow, temperature fields, humidity fields and age of air are examined using CFD simulation under various conditions of in-flowing outdoor air, i.e.,change in air temperature, humidity and variable air exchange rate. The room air controlling system (VAV system) which is used to keep the task zone at a target temperature in this simulation, is reproduced through changing the supply airflow rate of the air-conditioning system. With that, we can estimate how much cooling heat is required by the air-conditioning system to keep the task zone at the target temperature, and can analyze the details of the flow and the temperature fields in their respective conditions. When the outdoor air flows into the room sinks to close to the ground, it does not mix with the air in the room, and thus can cools the task zone well. The cooling load of the mechanical AC system is shown to increase with both the increases of the outdoor air temperature, and with the decreases of the in-flowing outdoor air volume.

The chaned analysis of wind tunnel test and CFD (computational fluid dynamics) for cross ventilation of a large indoor space is proposed and an example for a large-scale dome is demonstrated. The pressure lose at the opening is reflected accurately bu the methodology proposed in this study. The procedure of the chained analysis is as follows. With the wind tunnel model experiment, the overall airflow rate of cross ventilation and the wind pressure distribution at the building opening area measured. CFD simulation for the indoor flow field is then carried out with the boundary conditions of the obtained from the wind tunnel test. Pressure boundary conditions at the opening for cross ventilation are regulated to meet airflow rate of wind tunnel test. According this procedure, reliable and detailed analysis of cross ventilation characteristics of large indoor spaces become possible. To demonstrate the above procedure, cross ventilation at a large dome was analyzed.
