Vol.21 No.6
The research paper aims to describe the R&D practices in KAERI (Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute) in terms of innovation strategy and processes; to analyze how KAERI is catching up their technological capabilities in nuclear fuel related technology; and to illustrate what the success factors of KAERI in these research fields are. We propose reverse technological learning as a key success factor of KAERI's R&D in nuclear fuel tube. Thus, we highlight four aspects of reverse technological learning in KAERI: firstly, cooperative working relationship with major nations and companies in nuclear field; secondly, stable support of R&D due to long technology life cycle in nuclear industry; thirdly, cooperative technological R&D through plural external management; fourthly, external activities of R&D teams. KAERI For the research methodology, we employ a single case study based on interview and literature study.
Towards a New Direction of Organization Studies
Vol.- No.8
Recently, postmodernism has become one of the emerging themes in management and organizational studies. However, many researchers of mainstream organization studies have tended to suppress the possible contribution of postmodern perspective; not only because postmodern perspective seems to be quite new or rather 'strange' for those who are still in 'strong' modern ways of thinking, but also because they regard postmodern perspective simply as unpractical and even negative theories comparing to mainstream organization theories. In contrast, the author insists that postmodern epistemology, theory, and methodological orientation can contribute to develop the new directions of organization studies and management practices as well. In this regard, postmodernism must be seriously studied as a source of critical thinking, and a provider of insights in management practices.
