This study is aimed to evaluate the Earth Science Section of the PSAT responding to the Curriculum Revision in 2009 (referred to hereafter as '2012 Earth Science'), which means basically how greatly the trend of 2012 Earth Science I conforms to the Curriculum Revision in 2009. The data were derived from careful examination of the test items based on the assessment framework including content, behavioral and contextual domain. There are hopes that this result could act as basic data for 2014 SAT. Results are as follows. In case of 2012 Earth Science I, test items mostly fulfill the requirements of the assessment framework including content, behavioral and contextual domain. On three domains of content, behavior and context forming the assessment framework, for instance, distribution of critical elements were relatively even, and the ratio of test items combined with the basic elements got higher compared with those of other years. These tendencies certainly contribute to expand the scope of students' thinking, which suggests the trend of 2012 Earth Science I conforms to the orientation of Curriculum Revision in 2009. In case of 2012 Earth Science II, on the contrary, questions failed to reach the requirements of the assessment framework. On 2012 Earth Science II genuine scientific concept was overemphasized while its application to practical life was de-emphasized. In other words questions were mostly limited to such behaviour as comprehension and interpretation of data, and they failed to connect scientific knowledges to real-life situation or current issue. In addition composite ratio of critical elements on three evaluation domains remains low as in other years. These tendencies might keep students from developing integrated thinking ability, which is against the 2009 Revised Curriculum. Promoting scientific literacy and raising problem-solving capacity in every real-life situation are the goal of Earth Science responding to the Curriculum Revision in 2009. To effect change, much more research needed. key word :PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic APtitude Test)
