Vol.4 No.-

The novels by Kim Dong In are divided into two groups; historical novels and nonhistorical ones. In writing historical novels he is faitful to the historical facts, but .he restructures them into a novel. This makes his historical novels different from those of Lee kwang Soo. In order words, the historical viewpoint of Kim Dong In is opposite to that of Lee Kwang Soo. So a strong will of those who challege against the royal power and the tragedy of King's love and the ruin of the Kingdom are fictionalized in Kim's litrary works. In the former case he describes the image of heroes who stand up to the King, and seems to pursue the will to be strong. In latter case, he describes the sad love story of a King as a human being, resulting in the ruin of the kingdom. Thus I cannot help indicating the fact that the fictionalization of historical facts is not centered on the side of common people but on the history of the dynasty. As a result, the struggle for power rising from personal ambition is inclined to be stressed upon. This is a big defect. But it is highly valuable that he encourages people to have the consciousness of the recovery of the national right in .a historical sense. Considering these novels were written under the Japanese occupation, this effort to promote the patriotic feelings is greatly favourable to Korean people (readers).

Vol.24 No.1

In this study, we propose optimized RBFNNs based on night vision face recognition simulator with the aid of (2D)2 PCAalgorithm. It is difficult to obtain the night image for performing face recognition due to low brightness in case of image acquiredthrough CCD camera at night. For this reason, a night vision camera is used to get images at night. Ada-Boost algorithmis also used for the detection of face images on both face and non-face image area. And the minimization of distortionphenomenon of the images is carried out by using the histogram equalization. These high-dimensional images are reduced tolow-dimensional images by using (2D)2 PCA algorithm. Face recognition is performed through polynomial-based RBFNNsclassifier, and the essential design parameters of the classifiers are optimized by means of Differential Evolution(DE). Theperformance evaluation of the optimized RBFNNs based on (2D)2 PCA is carried out with the aid of night vision face recognitionsystem and IC&CI Lab data.

Vol.1 No.-

A novel is a process of fictionizing the conflicts. The life cycle in fiction is the general principle of Living-Confict-Death. Conflicts are the most important core in the organization of fictions, and also are essentially accompanied in the plot. Therefore, the term, conflict has so great a significance as to sometimes replace the term, plot. In psychology, conflicts are divided into two: one of them is intrinsic conflict and the other external one. Through these conflicts, man makes his own way toward death, looking for a new life. The process of going to death, which improves the fresh interpretation and understanding of life, is shown through events in fiction. With this major premise, the purpose of this paper is to see through the matters of conflicts and death presented in the works of Kim Dong-in, who was one of the forerunners of Korean short stories. Causes of conflicts in Kim's works, their periodical implications, and the meaning of death evoked by them have been surveyed. The remarkable characteristics of Kim's short stories are that their characters tend to be not only hometown-lost peope but also the weak who are poor and helpless, and that they make their way to death coping with another conflict. The writer paradoxically implies that these weak people become the strong through death. It is probably a reflection of the Zeitgeist and the literary spirit which is common to the writers at that time, after the failure of the March 1st. Independence Movement to resist the Japanese Imperialism in 1919. Kim shows them by works of intrinsic conflict and those of external conflict. In other words, he presents life pictures by realistic techniques. In Kim's works, death doesn't mean extinction but means a self-renewal of the past ‘I’ and a process of self-growth to be a new 'I'. The weak have no choice but to die. To overcome such situation, it is necessary to attain self-growth with the power of death, and to be a new strong man. In that sense, death is a recovery of new order, which would be a conclusion implied in Kim's short stories. We might say that the real value of Kim's short stories lies in fictionizing this..

Vol.10 No.2

Governance structure of public broadcasting companies is important in that it affects their strategic behaviors and then performances. This study conducted case studies of U.K., Germany, and Japan which have already experienced discussions regarding governance structures of public broadcasting companies. Especially, this study used resource-based view and its macro application, social asset, as research tools for the case studies in order to overcome the limitations of previous studies. The analysis showed that in the case of U.K and Germany where the historical, political, and journalism social assets were developed, the governance structure of public broadcasting companies stressed the self-regulations rather than systemic regulations. On the contrary, in the case of Japan where the social assets were not fully developed, the governance structure focused on increasing strictness of systemic regulations in order to secure the independence of pubic broadcasting companies.
