House-plant placement for indoor air purification and health benefits on asthmatics

Objectives Some plants were placed in indoor locations frequented by asthmatics inorder to evaluate the quality of indoor air and examine the health benefits to asthmatics. Methods The present study classified the participants into two groups: households ofcontinuation and households of withdrawal by a quasi-experimental design. The householdsof continuation spent the two observation terms with indoor plants, whereas thehouseholds of withdrawal passed the former observation terms with indoor plants andwent through the latter observation term without any indoor plants. Results The household of continuation showed a continual decrease in the indoor concentrationsof volatile organic compounds (VOCs) during the entire observation period,but the household of withdrawal performed an increase in the indoor concentrations ofVOCs, except formaldehyde and toluene during the latter observation term after the decreaseduring the former observation term. Peak expiratory flow rate (PEFR) increased inthe households of continuation with the value of 13.9 L/min in the morning and 20.6 L/min in the evening, but decreased in the households of withdrawal with the value of -24.7L/min in the morning and -30.2 L/min in the evening in the first experimental season. Allof the households exhibited a decrease in the value of PEFR in the second experimentalseason. Conclusions Limitations to the generalizability of findings regarding the presence ofplants indoors can be seen as a more general expression of such a benefit of human-environmentrelations.

A global binding agreement was adopted with the leading of United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) on May 22, 2001 in Stockholm to regulate the production and distribution on persistent organic pollutants (POPs). The agreement took effectuation with the ratification of 59 countries from the approval of 151 countries on May 17, 2004. After the approval on October 4, 2001, South Korea performed systematical investigation on POP-related substances such as chlordane, dichloro diphenyl trichloroethane (DDT), hexachlorobenzenes (HCB), heptachlor, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) to get ready for the ratification of the convention with country-specific exemption. The domestic distributions of those chemical substances have been officially prohibited since the late 1960s to the early 1980s. Although there were occasional reports for the detection of some of those chemical substances, those performed minute signification in their existence in the environment. A series of investigation with documentary examination and fact-finding survey showed the possibility for the ratification on the convention without country-specific exemption.
Total Hip Arthroplasty in Patient with Aplastic Anemia

Purpose: Patients with aplastic anemia (AA) are now living longer and therefore are at increased risk for the development of osteonecrosis of the hip. However, studies on the results of total hip arthroplasty (THA) are lacking. The purpose of this study is to present the result of THA in patients with AA. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the data for a group of 29 patients (45 hips) with AA who presented to our institution for THA between May 2008 and May 2012. All hips were replaced because of osteonecrosis of the femoral head. A specific prospective protocol was followed for the perioperative transfusion of platelets and blood. The clinical and radiographic evaluations were done, and the minimum follow-up period was 3 years (mean, 49.2 months; range, 36 to 84 months). Results: Three hips had excessive perioperative bleeding and hematoma formation, and then hematoma evacuations were done; one hip was finally revised because of infection of acetabular component. One patient with poorly controlled AA died due to delayed infection on the hip joint. All hips showed stable fixation, and the mean Harris hip score was improved from 54.2 points (range, 42 to 69 points) preoperatively to 90.8 points (range, 73 to 97 points) at the time of the latest follow-up. Conclusion: In the present study, the durability of implant fixation was maintained and the clinical results demonstrated a sustained increase in function of the hip. Postoperatively, paying attention to bleeding and infection should be needed.

본 논문에서는 OTP (One-Time Programmable) IP (Intellectual Property)의 개발비용을 절감하고 개발 기간을 단축하기 위해 로직 트랜지스터만 이용한 로직 eFuse (electrical Fuse) OTP IP를 설계하였다. 웨이퍼 테스트 시 테스트 장비에서 FSOURCE 패드를 통해 VDD (=1.5V)보다 높은 2.4V의 외부 프로그램 전압을 eFuse OTP IP에만 공급하므로 eFuse OTP 이외의 다른 IP에는 소자의 신뢰성에 영향을 미치지 않으면서 eFuse OTP cell의 eFuse 링크에 높은 전압을 인가하도록 하였다. 한편 본 논문에서는 128행 ${\times}$ 8열의 2D (Dimensional) 메모리 어레이에 직접 FSOURCE 전압을 인가하여 eFuse에 인가되는 프로그램 파워를 증가시키면서 디코딩 로직 회로를 저면적으로 구현한 eFuse OTP 셀을 제안하였다. 동부하이텍 $0.11{\mu}m$ CIS 공정을 이용하여 설계된 1Kb eFuse OTP 메모리 IP의 레이아웃 면적은 $295.595{\mu}m{\times}455.873{\mu}m$ ($=0.134mm^2$)이다. In this paper, a logic eFuse (electrical Fuse) OTP (One-Time Programmable) memory IP (Intellectual Property) using only logic transistors to reduce the development cost and period of OTP memory IPs is designed. To secure the reliability of other IPs than the OTP memory IP, a higher voltage of 2,4V than VDD (=1.5V) is supplied to only eFuse links of eFuse OTP memory cells directly through an external pad FSOURCE coming from test equipment in testing wafers. Also, an eFuse OTP memory cell of which power is supplied through FSOURCE and hence the program power is increased in a two-dimensional memory array of 128 rows by 8 columns being also able to make the decoding logic implemented in small area. The layout size of the designed 1kb eFuse OTP memory IP with the Dongbu HiTek's 110nm CIS process is $295.595{\mu}m{\times}455.873{\mu}m$ ($=0.134mm^2$).
