Researches about various effective or functional compounds for cosmetics and human skin health have been performed and some of their results were applied to cosmetic production. In this study, the usefulness of water extract of mistletoe (Viscum album), white radish (Raphanus sativus), native mulberry (Cudrania tricuspidata), thistle (Cirsium setidens), and dandelion (Traxacum platycarpum) as a material for cosmetics based on contents of polyphenol and flavonoid, and activity for radical-scavenging, collagenase inhibition, elastase inhibition, and tyrosinase inhibition was qualitatively and quantitatively analyzed and compared. Extract of all materials was precisely adjusted to 20% (w/v) for quantitative comparison of each effective compound from each material. Polyphenol in the extract of R. sativus and C. tricuspidata were approximately 2,226 mg/kg and 2,538mg/kg, respectively, which were relatively higher than others. Flavonoid in the extract of R. sativus was approximately 188 mg/kg which was relatively higher than others. Radical (DPPH and ABTS)- scavenging activity of the extract of R. sativus, C. tricuspidata, T. platycarpum was approximately 2 times higher than others. Meanwhile, collagenase and elastase inhibition activities of C. setidens extract were approximately 123% and 126%, respectively, and tyrosinase inhibition activity of R. sativus was approximately 1,726% and 1,260%, respectively. On the basis of these results, extract from each material is required to be combined for making of multi-functional cosmetics.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of a natural cosmetics, which containing three medicinal plants (Viscum album, Cudrania tricuspidata and Cirsium setidens), on face skin of 20’S women using instrumental analysis technique. The females (study participants) who have used the product containing retinoids or steroids for the past one month, and who had any skin disease or pimples were excluded from this study. The effects of natural cosmetics were evaluated based on the degree of changes in skin conditions of the study participants, such as the number of pores, skin tone (brightness), pigmentations (number, area), flushes (number, area), and wrinkles in eye contour (right and left). Lotion A composed of only basic several cosmetic ingredients was used as a control product whereas lotion B composed of basic ingredients and three medicinal plant extracts were used as active product. Lotion B was more effective than lotion A for improvement of skin conditions, but skin tone and wrinkles in eye contour were not dramatically changed. These results showed that the three medicinal plant extracts employed in this study might be positive effect for skin care without any side effects. Thus, the extracts of Viscum album, Cudrania tricuspidata and Cirsium setidens might be useful as the raw material for making of natural cosmetics.
환경위해성 평가를 위한 해충저항성 배추의 분자생물학적 특성 검정 및 계통 특이 마커 캐발

유전자변형 작물의 상업화를 위해서는 유전자변형 작물이 식품으로서의 안전성과 환경에 미치는 영향에 관한 평가가 이루어져야한다. 이를 위해 개발자는 유전자변형 작물의 방출이전에 유전자변형 작물 개발에 관한 정보를 제출해야만 한다. 본 연구는 유전자변형 작물의 환경 위해성 평가를 위한 분자생물학적 자료를 제공하고자 수행하였다. 아그로 박테리움 형질전환법을 통하여 해충저항성 CryIAc 유전자가 도입된 배추 형질전환체를 획득한 후, 분자생물학적인 분석을 통하여 유전자의 copy수, 안정성, 식물체내에서의 발현을 확인하였고, T-DNA의 배추게놈내의 인접서열을 분석하였다. T-DNA의 게놈내 삽입 인접서열을 바탕으로 유전자변형 배추를 동정할 수 있는 프라이머를 제작하였고, 이를 이용한 검정방법을 수립하였다. 계통 특이 프라이머를 이용한 해충저항성 배추 후대의 PCR 분석결과와 제초체 처리결과가 서로 일치하였다. 본 연구 결과로 환경위해성 평가를 위한 해충저항성 배추의 분자생물학적인 자료를 획득하였으며, 개발된 프라이머는 해충저항성 배추의 검출을 위하여 유용하게 사용할 수 있음을 확인하였다. Commercialization of genetically modified (GM) plants will be required the assessment of risks associated with the release of GM plants that should include a detailed risk assessment of their impacts in human health and the environment. Prior to GM plant release, applicants should provide the information on GM crops for approval. We carried out this study to provide the molecular data for risk assessment of the GM Chinese cabbage plants with insect-resistance gene, modified CryIAc, which we obtained by Agrobacterium-transformation. From the molecular analysis with GM Chinese cabbage, we confirmed the transgene copy number and stability, the expression of the transgene, and integration region sequences between the transgene and the Chinese cabbage genome. Based on the unique integration DNA sequences, we designed specific primer set to detect GM Chinese cabbage and set up the GM cabbage detection method by qualitative PCR analysis. Qualitative analysis with GM Chinese cabbage progenies analysis was revealed the same as the result of herbicide treatment. Our results provided the molecular data for risk assessment analysis of GM Chinese cabbage and demonstrated that the primer set proposed could be useful to detect GM Chinese cabbage.
피부미용실의 경영형태가 미용컨설팅 인식도에 미치는 영향

The purpose of this study is to find out the effects of beauty salon management styles on the perception of beauty consulting. For this purpose, a survey was carried out on skin care specialists working at beauty salons in Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi-do. The results of the study are as follows. first, after examining the interrelation between the skin care salon environment and perception of management style and skin care consulting, it was found to have a high positive correlation between skin beauty consulting perception and the skin care salons environment as well as management styles management resources, technical resources, and knowledge resources, in that order. Second, after examining the effect of skin care management style on beauty consulting perception, only the management resources of skin care salon environments and management style were found to have a significant influence on the perception of skin care consulting.

화색은 화훼 육종의 주요한 목표형질이다. 최근 유전공학 기술의 발달로 기존의 전통육종에서는 볼 수 없었던 파란장미와 파란카네이션과 같은 새로운 화색 개발이 성공적으로 보고되었다. 플라보노이드 생합성에 관해 축적된 지식기반 연구 결과를 바탕으로 새롭고 독특한 형질의 화색을 도입하는 것이 가능하게 된 것이다. 이러한 화색변경은 플라보노이드 대사경로의 조절, 즉 내재유전자의 발현조절 및 새로운 플라보노이드 합성 또는 특정 플라보노이드 합성을 위한 외래유전자의 추가도입과 플라보노이드 대사 전체를 조절하는 전사인자의 도입을 통해서 이루어져 왔다. 그러나 보다 실증적으로 이러한 플라보노이드 대사를 조절하기 위해서는 작물별 내재 플라보노이드의 조절 기작에 대한 이해를 바탕으로 목표로 하는 플라보노이드 합성을 위해 보다 정교한 대사흐름의 조절이 요구된다. 본 총설에서는 화훼작물의 화색변경 성공 예들을 자세히 소개하고 그 요인 분석을 통해 향후 더 성공적인 화색변경의 전략을 수립하는데 도움이 되고자 한다. Flower color is one of the main target traits in the flower breeding. Recently, technological advances in genetic engineering have been successfully reported the flower colors, such as blue roses and blue carnations that are impossible to develop by traditional breeding. Accumulated knowledge-based approaches for flavonoid biosynthesis enabled to introduce novel and unique colors into flowers. These flower color modifications have been made through the regulation of flavonoid metabolic pathway - control of endogenous gene expression and introduction of foreign genes to produce novel and specific flavonoids - and the introduction of transcription factors that are known to regulate sets of genes being involving in the flavonoid biosynthetic pathway. More empirical regulation of the flavonoids metabolism requires the understanding for regulatory mechanism of intrinsic flavonoids depending on the flower crops and the very sophisticated control of flavonoid metabolic flow. In this review, we summarized successf ul examples of flower color modification. It might be useful to deduce the strategy for the creation of exquisite colors in flower plants.
