한국사상(韓國思想)(철학(哲學)) : 16세기 호남사림의 학문 교류 및 논변 고찰 -김인후(金麟厚),이항(李恒),노수신(盧守愼)과 교류한 기대승(奇大升)의 학문을 중심으로-

16세기 전후로 조선은 사화가 일어나 정치적으로 불안하였다. 사화로 인하여 향촌사회로 귀향한 호남의 사림은 도학을 실천하고 성리사상을 이론적으로 탐구하여 학문을 발전시켰다. 특히 전라도관찰사들의 부임, 또는 덕망있는 학자들의 유배는 유학의 정신을 더 고양시켰다. 기대승은 과거를 준비하면서 주자학을 탐구하였다. 그의 주자학에 대한 열정은 『朱子文錄』을 완성하는 계기가 되었다. 이를 기초로 李恒·金麟厚·李滉·盧守愼 등과 학문적으로 교류하고 논변하면서 자신의 理氣心性論에 대한 체계를 확립하였다. 본 글은 기대승이 김인후·이항·노수신 등과 교류하고 논변한 것을 중심으로 고찰하였다. 기대승은 김인후·이항과 찾아간 적이 있었으나 태극논쟁을 시작으로 학문 교류 및 논변이 본격화되었다. 그가 처음으로 이항과 `태극·음양의 관계`를 논쟁하면서도 김인후와의 학문적 교류를 통해 그 논변이 심화되었다. 더욱이 기대승은 이 논쟁을 당시 四端七情에 대해 논변하던 이황에게도 알려 그 논지를 명확하게 밝혀내고자 하였다. 그후 기대승은 노수신과 人心道心에 대해 논쟁하였는데 이 논쟁은 일찍이 김인후·이항이 노수신과 논쟁하던 것을 계속한 것이다. 기대승의 이러한 일련의 학문교류와 논쟁은 성리학에 대한 심도 있는 철학적 반성이자 조선 성리학을 한층 더 발전시키는 계기가 되었다. 기대승의 이론은 후학들에게 계승되었다. 그의 문인들은 국난을 당하여 위기를 극복하고자 의병을 일으켜 輔國安民하고자 하였고, 조선말기 그의 후손들도 그의 학문을 계승하면서 국가가 위기를 당하자 이를 극복하고자 위청척사운동을 일으키고 義烈精神을 발휘하였다. 특히 그의 학문과 정신은 호남이라는 지역성을 벗어나 畿湖學이라는 학맥으로 계승되고 나아가 후학들이 주자학적 세계관을 지향하도록 하였다. Before and after the 16th century, the Sahrim in Honam opened to the practical moral philosophy and the theoretical human nature and natural laws and welcomed the heyday of their scholarship. Especially the newly appointed Jeolla-province governors or the exile of scholars who had a moral influence even boosted the spirit of Confucianism. Daeseung Ki succeeded to the family-run scholarship, studied Neo-Confucianism and prepared for the state examination. His passion for Neo-Confucianism later became the beginning of completing 『Jujamunrok』(朱子文錄: a series of books he compiled by excerpting from 『Jujadaejeon』, a collection of works of Zhu Xi, a Song Dynasty Confucian scholar). Based on this, he academically interchanged and debated with Hang Yi, Inhu Kim, Hwang Yi, Sushin Noh, etc. and established his own system of Yikishimsungron(理氣心性論: a theory that philosophically explains about the mind of people linked with the basic principles and the atmospheric force of nature). This study focused on the interchanges and arguments that Daeseung Ki had with Inhu Kim, Hang Yi, Sushin Noh, etc. He made a few visits with Inhu Kim and Hang Yi, yet, with Taegeuk Argument, his academic exchange and argument began. Though he was arguing about the `relation between taegeuk and yin and yang` with Hang Yi for the first time, the debate became intensified through the academic exchange with Inhu Kim. Moreover, Daeseung Ki informed Hwang Yi who was discussing over Sahdanchiljung(四端七情: four Confucian human nature and seven human emotions) of this argument and tried to clarify the point of it. Later, he, with Sushin Noh, argued about Inshimdohshim(人心道心: a theory about the ambilaterality of the mind) which had been continued since the Hang Yi and Sushin Noh`s debate earlier. Daeseung Ki`s such successive academic exchanges and arguments were a profound philosophical reflection toward Confucianism and became an opportunity to enhance it in the Joseon Dynasty. Daeseung Ki`s theories were handed down to the younger scholars. His literary men, facing the national crisis, strived to overcome the situation and promote the national interests and provide for the welfare of the people by raising an army in the cause of justice; in the late Joseon Dynasty, his descendants, as well, succeeded to his scholarship and started `Wijungchuksa Movement` and showed such heroic spirit as they were facing their nation in crisis. His scholarship and spirit, in particular, went beyond the regional boundary but were succeeded as an academic range called Kihohak(畿湖學) and helped the younger scholars to move toward the world view of Neo-Confucianism.
