        ‘해외 초·중등학교 한국어 교육과정’에서의 사회언어적 능력과 화용적 능력

        The purpose of this study is to introduce the development of sociolinguistic and pragmatic competences of the Korean Curriculum for elementary and secondary schools overseas. The sociolinguistic competences and the Pragmatic Competences which had not been emphasized, were set as one category of language Competences, and developed to reveal the importance of the sociolinguistic and the Pragmatic competences in the curriculum. The sociolinguistic competences refer to the ability to use language properly socially, and the Pragmatic competences refer to the ability to use language, including discourse Competences. The sociolinguistic competences deal with sociolinguistic appropriateness, including politeness, registers, and socio-cultural implications, etc.. The pragmatic competences were composed of flexibility, turn taking, thematic development, coherence and cohesion, and fluency to present the curriculum. Unlike the existing curriculum, this curriculum is meaningful in that it focuses on language use, including the sociolinguistic competences and the pragmatic competences in the curriculum, and presents detailed competence descriptions. In addition, the curriculum will be differentiated in that it has increased applicability in the field by specifically presenting the situation of discourse suitable for Korean learners in elementary and secondary courses abroad and including Korean expressions that can be treated as educational contents.         사회적 지위와 사회적 거리에 따른 한국어 모어 화자와 러시아인 한국어 학습자의 칭찬 화행

        This study aims at examining the performance of compliment speech acts for the Russian learners of the Korean language. The major variables influencing the performance of compliment speech acts are social distance and social status, so this study aimed at finding out how these two variables affect the performance and method of compliment speech act. For this, a compliment speech act questionnaire was developed to measure the performance and method of compliment speech acts for 35 Russian learners of the Korean language and 25 Koreans. Data that were collected were analyzed using the polynomial logistic regression analysis, which can best show the influential relationship between the two variables on the performance of compliment speech acts. As a result, both learners and Koreans were not influenced by social status in the performance of compliment speech acts, but they were influenced by social distance. However, the two groups showed differences in the performance of compliment speech acts. There were more cases of learners performing compliment speech acts than Koreans, and it was more apparent in the method of performance. As above, this study showed significance in the aspects that it discovered the variables affecting the performance of compliment speech acts and objectively analyzed the influential relationship between the variables.       • 화용적 공손성과 한국어 교육

        Politeness in pragmatics includes not only the humbleness and courtesy that subordinates should possess toward their superiors, but also the solicitude for another, which is necessary when dealing with equals or superiors. This research studied the characteristics of pragmatic politeness, which is a different concept from the grammatical honorific system. Pragmatic politeness has a close relationship with indirection. The reason for using indirect speech act is polite, but indirect speech act is not always polite. This can be explained by cross-cultural differences, and thus shows the limits of universal politeness. Native speakers have harder time accepting pragmatic problems than grammatical errors. If learners want suitable communication in the target language, it is important to teach them the pragmatic politeness of the Korean language. Therefore, in the last chapter of this paper, politeness education methods are presented.

        한국어 화용 교육에서의 명시적 교수 가능성과 교실 적용

        Although there have been a number of studies on pragmatic acquisition in the literature of L2 acquisition, only a few case studies have focused on the effects of pedagogical intervention in Korean language classroom in terms of maximizing the growth of L2 competence. Therefore, it still remains as a worthwhile to ask how beneficial it is to teach the targeted pragmatic features in language labs. Many scholars have emphasized the necessity of pragmatic education with their research results showing pragmatic errors become a more serious barrier in communication than phonological or lexical ones. This has also been supported by the well-known study outcome that grammatical competence does not guarantee pragmatic competence. Then, are pragmatic features teachable? And, if they are, what is the most effective pedagogy? This paper claims that L2 pragmatics as well as its grammar should be taught explicitly. Furthermore, it argues that explicit teaching should be implemented in classroom as explicit learning is more effective than implicit acquisition, which happens when exposed to the L2 speech community. To do so, it carefully examines whether classroom technique has been studied in related research literature as it enables instructors to explicitly teach the targeted pragmatic features. It also closely analyzes whether recently published university textbooks have employed explicit instructional techniques. The result shows that implicit teaching techniques are more exploited in the textbooks which are also in short of various classroom activities. What is encouraging, however, is that some of the textbooks are now presenting explicit instruction for pragmatic education.

        중국인 한국어 학습자의 듣기 이해와 언어 외적 요인의 상관관계와 영향력

        Unfamiliar pronunciation and accent, fast verbal speed, difficult vocabulary and grammar, and the lack of pragmatic information hinder listening comprehension of Korean language learners. But it is not only due to the lack of linguistic knowledge that makes listening difficult. Affective Factors, Cognitive Factors, and Contextual Factors are also significant for listening comprehension. What are the factors other than the linguistic factors that influence listening comprehension of Chinese Korean learners? This study examined which factors influence listening comprehension and listening self-efficacy, respectively. As a result, listening self-efficacy and listening exposure time were statistically significant variables affecting listening comprehension. In addition, it was found that cognitive strategies and listening anxiety were also important key factors affecting listening self-efficacy. MBTI personality type had no effect on listening comprehension. On the other hand, Listening self-efficacy showed significant difference between S(sensing) group and N(intuition) group while listening anxiety showed difference between T(thinking) group and F(feeling) group. From this study, it was found that listening education, which usually concentrate only on the detailed contents of the vocabulary grammar center, should be changed in order to improve the listening ability.         비교문화적 화용론의 관점에서 본 태국인 한국어 학습자의 사과 화행 연구

        This study tries to compare the differences of apology speech acts in Thai Korean learners from the cross-cultural pragmatic perspective, and analyzes what causes these differences. The research questions are as follows: (1) Do native Koreans and Thais apologize in particular situations respectively? (2) How different are Koreans, Thais, and Thai Korean learners in using apology speech act strategies in each situation? We used oral DCTs and post-interviews for situational apology speech acts among Koreans, Thais, and Thai Korean learners. The research questions (1) utilized chi-squared tests and (2) used a multiple response analysis. The oral DCTs result showed no significant difference among groups. However, post-interviews revealed that Thais do not prefer explicit apologies in strange and official situations and that they prefer them in more familiar situations. On the other hand, Koreans use various apology strategies in more familiar situations to replace explicit apologies. Moreover, difference in perception of situations and idiomatic expressions among different groups suggests the high risk of pragmatic failure for Thai Korean learners. Thus, the field of Korean education must teach various expressions and strategies preferred and used in actual Korean apology speech acts. (Ewha Womans University)

        열간압연공정에서 백업롤 편심 신호 검출용 아날로그 필터

        This paper presents an analog filter with variable center frequency of extracting eccentricity signal due to backup roll problem in hot rolling process. The proposed analog filter uses only information obtained from sensors which were already installed in every hot rolling process. Such sensors are load cell of extracting rolling pressure and tachometer of measuring backup roll’s rotating speed. According to transfer function of the proposed analog filter, it is clearly proven that the proposed analog filter can extract time-varying eccentricity signal depending upon backup roll’s rotating speed. Furthermore several design equations were suggested to compute proper values of components and offers an easy design procedure.

        국외 한국어 교재 개발을 위한 중요도-만족도 분석

        The purpose of this study is to propose a plan for future developments of the Korean language textbooks for overseas by conducting the Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) of the Korean language textbooks for overseas. For this purpose, this study analyse and evaluate the Korean language textbooks for overseas and the researches for developing Korean language textbooks for overseas. In this study, we have the IPA of the Korean language textbooks from the total of 158 surveys that were collected from teachers who teach Korean at King Sejong Institute and overseas university. The survey conducted about the Korean textbooks regarding the following questionnaires: 1) integrated and separated textbooks, 2) textbooks by learners’ variables, 3) teaching materials by media type, 4) supplementary teaching materials, 5) diffusion and support of textbooks. The result of this survey found that supporting for the separated textbooks is needed, and there is a high demand for localized textbooks considering local characteristics. Furthermore, it is noteworthy that King Sejong Institute has a high demand for textbooks that can be downloaded from the web despite most of institutes are highly satisfied with paper textbooks. For the supplementary textbooks, it was found that vocabulary learning materials were needed for the King Sejong school students and additional reading materials for overseas college learners needed to be developed. We also found that it is necessary to support not only the development of textbooks but also smooth and efficient diffusion.         과거 사태 지시 표현 유무에 따른 중국인 한국어 학습자의 과거시제 사용

        This study investigated the effects of past event indicating expressions on L2 Korean past tense morpheme usage by Chinese learners of Korean. The Korean language, which is agglutinative, indicates past events with the morpheme ‘-eott-’, while the Chinese language is aided by vocabulary that refers to events in the past without needing a past tense morpheme. We examined whether Chinese learners of Korean use the Korean past tense morpheme differently (1) when they have past-event indicating expressions in the sentence and (2) when their Korean proficiency differs. The participants of the study were 91 intermediate and advanced L2 Korean learners from Chinese universities. A cloze test with 9 sentences was conducted to assess participants’ use of Korean past tense. The results showed that the Chinese learners of Korean used the past tense morpheme better when they have past event indicating expressions. The advanced group used the past tense morphemes better than the lower group, and they used the past tense morphemes better with or without the past event indicating expressions. These results confirm that when there is a past event indicating expression, it facilitates the L2 learners’ recognition of past events and leads them to use past tense morpheme. These findings show that explicit instructions with time and place expressions can help Chinese learners of Korean to use past tense morphemes.
