Co-adsorption of Irreversibly Adsorbing Sb and Te on Pt(111)

Presented is a voltammetric study of co-adsorption of irreversibly adsorbing Sb and Te on Pt(111). When a layer of Sb and Te was formed via simultaneous adsorption, the reduction peak of Te was observed at 0.30 V in the initial cathodic scan. In contrast, sequential adsorption of Sb followed by Te adsorption led to a Te reduction peak at 0.50 V in the initial scan. As the voltammetric scan was continued, in addition, the voltammogram of the simultaneously co-adsorbed layer changed, while that of the sequentially co-adsorbed layer did not. These observations are discussed in terms of formation of a homogeneously mixed layer and a layer consisting of heterogeneously separated domains of Sb and Te. Also, the difference in the adsorption strength of Sb and Te was observed.

本稿では、中世日本語におけるテアルをタリとの比較を通してそのテンス·アスペクト的意味を考察した。中世の資料(『今昔物語集』『天草版平家物語』『エソポのハブラス』『虎明本狂言集』)から見られる用例を用いて分析した結果、以下のようなことが想定できる。 1. 『今昔物語集』のテアルは中古のテアルより、「て」と「あり」の間に助詞が入る例が少なくなっているが、「格の制限」の影響下にあるということは変わらない。これは、テアルの使用は増えたが、中古と変わらぬ存在動詞の意味が力強いからであると考えられる。 2. 『天草版平家物語』『エソポのハブラス』『虎明本狂言集』のテアルについては、『今昔物語集』のテアルとは異なり、文法化が進んでテアルがタリのテンス·アスペクト的意味を補うことになりつつも、古風な言い方も存在する。古風な言い方が存在するという点により、テアルの発展を妨げ、新鮮な形式だと思われるテイルにその領域を奪われることになるものと思われる。 3. 『虎明本狂言集』において、未だタがアスペクトの意味を保っていると考えられる例があり、その中ではテアルと競合しているように見える例もある。 なお、動作の進行の意味をめぐる様々な解釈は、中世日本語のテンス·アスペクトの意味究明が定まっていないことを表すと共に、古代日本語に続き動詞基本形のルの無色な性質が維持されていることをも示唆する。

In this paper, I present the results of voltammetric studies of the adsorption behavor of urea on Pt(100) single crystal electrode. The voltammetric characteristics of urea are interpreted in terms of slow adsorption kinetics and charge transfer adsorption. The saturate surface coverage of urea on Pt(100) electrode is calculated based on the charge transfer process and discussed in comparison with in-situ and ex-situ data.
정지 전극과 회전 전극에서 전기 화학 i-E 곡선의 모사 실험

This work demonstrates simulated potential-step experiments to obtain i-E curves of reversible and quasi-reversible electrochemical reactions at stationary and rotating electrodes. The i-E curves of a reversible reaction demonstrated the effect of rotation on the position and diffusion limiting current. At rotating electrode which permitted much faster mass transfer, specifically, the half wave potentials shifted by 4.7 mV in the positive direction, and the limiting currents were much enhanced. On the other hand, an experimental procedure to determine the standard charge transfer rate constant of a quasi-reversible reaction using rotating electrode was demonstrated also. In such simulation experiments, adjustment of various parameters was suggested to understand the ways to modify the i-E curves. Such simulation experiments certainly have some advantages over real experiments in terms of cost, time and so on.
STM Study of 2-Mercaptoethanol Self-Assembled Monolayer on Au(111)

Presented are the STM images of self-assembled monolayer of 2-mercaptoethanol on Au(111). Striped structures of ($6{\times}3_{\frac{1}{2}}$), ($5{\times}3_{\frac{1}{2}}$), ($4{\times}3_{\frac{1}{2}}$) and compact-($5{\times}3_{\frac{1}{2}}$) were observed after annealing at $80^{\circ}C.$ Analysis of the ordered structures revealed that the basic fundamental units of the ordered structures were three crystallographically non-equivalent ($3_{\frac{1}{2}}{\times}3_{\frac{1}{2}}$) $R30^{\circ}$ assemblies, and that the way of combination of the assemblies produced the four different structures. The($6{\times}3_{\frac{1}{2}}$) structure ( $\theta$ = 0.33) was composed of one ($3_{\frac{1}{2}}{\times}3_{\frac{1}{2}}$)$R30^{\circ}$ assembly, while the ($5{\times}3_{\frac{1}{2}}$) ( $\theta$ = 0.30) and ($4{\times}3_{\frac{1}{2}}$) ( $\theta$ = 0.38) structures were consisted of two ($3_{\frac{1}{2}}{\times}3_{\frac{1}{2}}$) $R30^{\circ}$ assemblies, separated by 5a and 4a, respectively. Furthermore, the compact-(5X 3½) structure ( $\theta$ = 0.50) was obtained by overlapping three ($3_{\frac{1}{2}}{\times}3_{\frac{1}{2}}$) $R30^{\circ}$ assemblies. In spite of the diversity in the adsorption structures, all the adsorption sites of 2-mercaptoethanol were fundamentally identical. On the other hand, the unannealed primitive SAM of 2-mercaptoethanol was characterized by two observations: a short-range order keeping the adsorbed molecules at approximately $3_{\frac{1}{2}}$ a and the small domains of the striped structures supporting that the observed surface structures on the annealed surface were the extension of the primitive layer of 2-mercaptoethanol. Comparing these observations with the already published structures of ethanthiol, it was concluded that the interaction between the hydroxyl groups of 2-mercaptoethanol might play a significant role in the adsorption step of 2-mercaptoethanol on Au(111) to organize the adsorption structures different from those of ethanthiol.
