        도인승기탕에 의한 당뇨병성 혈관장애 개선효과

        Objectives : Diabetes mellitus is the leading cause for vascular complications such as atherosclerosis. The present study is to investigate whether Doinseunggi-tang (DST) improves diabetic vascular dysfunction in type II diabetes. Methods : The db/db mice were treated with high fat/high cholesterol diet and DST (200 mg/kg/day) for 8 weeks. Results : DST significantly lowered blood glucose and systolic blood pressure. In addition, DST also markedly decreased total plasma cholesterol, triglyceride, and LDL-cholesterol, whereas increased the HDL-cholesterol. Vascular relaxation of aortic rings by acetylcholine or SNP was ameliorated by DST in a dose-dependent manner. Damage of vascular intima and hypertrophic of media was improved by DST. Immunohistological study revealed that DST attenuated the increase of ICAM-1, VCAM-1, and ET-1 expression in thoracic aorta. Conclusions : Taken together, DST suppressed hyperglycemia and diabetic vascular dysfunction in type II db/db mice. The present data suggests that Doinseunggi-tang may be prevent a development of diabetic atherosclerosis.

        Salmonella typhimurium 에서 무산소 환경 유도유전자들에 대한 조절유전자들의 특성 및 클로닝

        New regulatory loci which participate in the anaerobic environment inducible gene(ani) expression in Salmonella typhimurium were identified. These regulators (oxr) showed negative regulatory effect on the anaerobiosis inducible operon fusions of this organism in aerobic environment (oxr 107 and oxr 108 to ani 2001, oxr 109 to ani 2007). They were identified as the trans-acting regulators, and increased β-galactosidase activity of ani-lacZ fusion strains up to about 10-240 fold in aerobic environment. By using the library of S. typhimurium chromosomal DNA, two negative regulators (oxr 101 and oxr 109) were cloned. The insert fragment of each clone, pPK32 for oxr 101 and pPK33 to oxr 109 were 7.8Kb and 9.3Kb, respectively. The recombinant plasmid pPK32 didn`t complement the mutation effect of oxr 101 on minimal media but rich media, pPK33 complemented the mutation effect of oxr 109 on both minimal and rich media.

        고지혈증 동물모델에서 홍삼과 천마 혼합투여에 의한 혈관 염증 개선연구

        Objectives : This experimental study was designed to investigate the inhibitory effects of combination with Korean red ginseng and Gastrodia rhizoma on vascular dysfunction in high-fat/cholesterol diet-induced hyperlipidemia. Methods : Sprague-Dawley rats were fed with 7.5% cocoa butter and 1.25% cholesterol for 10 weeks, with Panax ginseng (PG), and mixtures of Panax ginseng and Gastrodia rhizoma (PGM), respectively. Results : Chronic treatment with PG and PGM significantly decreased body weight. The aortic expression of cell adhesion molecules such as intracellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1), vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1), and E-selectin were markedly increased in hyperlipidemia rats. Interestingly, PGM significantly decreased cell adhesion molecules expression. However, there was no significant decrease in PG group. In addition, PG and PGM group inhibited high-fat/cholesterol diet-induced cytokine such as monocyte chemoattractant protein (MCP-1) mRNA expression. Furthermore, PG and PGM group significantly decreased c-reactive protein protein (CRP) level. Especially, PGM significantly accentuated the decrease of MCP-1 mRNA expression and CRP level. Conclusions : the present study provides an evidence that combination with Panax ginseng and Gastrodia rhizoma enhances anti-vascular protective effects through suppression of vascular inflammation in hyperlipidemic rats.

        비중격만곡증 환자의 눈물주머니코안연결술의 임상예후

        Purpose: Septal deviation has few subjective symptoms. However, a difficulty remains in doing DCR (dacryocystorhinostomy) in these patients. We investigate the clinical course of DCR in patients with a septal deviation. Methods: Acquired nasolacrimal duct-obstructed patients who had undergone DCR with septal deviation from 2003 to 2006 in our hospital were retrospectively analyzed. We measured the septal distance using paranasal computed tomography taken preoperatively and compared the sex and age of patients, the kinds of operations, outcome of surgery, and ocular and nasal complications in our analysis. Results: Twenty-two eyes of 22 patients with a mean age of 55.3 years (range 29~74) were analyzed (4 males, 18 females). Mean septal distance was 4.84 mm (range 2.18~6.99 mm). Nineteen eyes had endonasal DCR, and three had external DCR. Two had DCR combined with septoplasty. Three had septoplasty as a secondary operation, Nasal complication was synechiae in 9 eyes. DCR success was seen in 15 eyes, and DCR failure in 7 eyes. Septal distance was not correlated with DCR success but was correlated with nasal complication (Mann-Whitney test, p=0.003) Conclusions: In the case of DCR with septal deviation, the surgical technique used will need to minimize the mucosal injury and ensure appropriate nasal correction to prevent future complications.

        위눈꺼풀 성형술 후 눈꺼풀계측치의 변화

        Purpose: To evaluate the morphological changes in the external eyes after upper blepharoplasty. Methods: Twenty-six eyes of 13 patients undergoing upper blepharoplasty from May 2002 to May 2003 were selected. All surgeries were performed by one surgeon. MRD1, MRD2, interpalpebral fissure height, and levator function test were each measured twice, and the averages were calculated. Likewise, significant changes were checked before and after the operation. The subjects were divided into two groups. For group A (n=12), a double line suture was stitched at the levator aponeurosis, which was directly superior to the tarsal plate. In group B (n=14) the suture was stitched at a levator aponeurosis 3 mm superior to tarsal plate. The delta levator function (postoperative mean levator function minus preoperative mean levator function) measurements were calculated and compared between the two groups. Results: The MRD1 was 2.04±0.75 (mean±SD) before the operation, and 2.0±0.81 after the operation. MRD2 was 5.23±0.75 before the operation, 5.35±0.54 after operation. Interpalpebral fissure height was 7.27±0.38 before the operation and 7.35±0.63 after the operation. There were no statistically significant factors before and after the operation in MRD1, MRD2 and interpalpebral fissure height. The levator function was 14.04±1.80 before versus 16.19±1.58 after. This increase was statistically significant (p<0.01, Wilcoxon signed ranks test). The delta levator function was 1.58±0.90 for group A and 1.96±1.36 for group B. Conclusions: After upper blepharoplasty, the measurement of levator function increased significantly.

        사체를 이용한 아래눈꺼풀지방의 해부학적 연구

        Purpose: This study investigated the anatomy of infraorbital fat and the relationship between surrounding structures and infraorbital fat. Methods: Forty-one orbits from adult Korean cadavers were dissected. Among them 20 orbits were male and 21 orbits were female. The cadavers were perfused and embalmed in formalin solution. The skin and orbicularis oculi muscle were dissected to expose the arrangement and compartments of infraorbital fat. A punctal probe was used to find a deeper fat compartment lying under the another compartment. The width of each compartment and the distances from the inferior orbital rim and from the lower lid margin to the topmost point of each compartment were measured using a digital caliper. The distance from the top of the medial compartment and lower lid margin to the first appearance of the inferior oblique muscle, located between the medial and the central fat compartments, were measured, respectively. Results: The width of the medial compartment was 11.49±2.54 mm, the central compartment was 21.78±5.69 mm, and the lateral compartment was 17.94±4.99 mm. The distance from the inferior orbital rim to the medial compartment was 8.13±2.72 mm, to the central compartment was 9.91±3.44 mm, to the lateral compartment was 9.58±3.76 mm. The distance from the lower lid margin to the medial compartment was 5.55±1.22 mm, to the central compartment was 7.09±3.22 mm, and to the lateral compartment was 5.41±3.07 mm. The distance from the inferior oblique muscle to the medial compartment was 9.09±2.63 mm, and to the lower lid margin was 13.60±2.27 mm. Conclusions: Our study evaluates the normal anatomy of the infraorbital fat compartments in Korean patients and suggests a useful index for lower blepharoplasty and lower orbital surgery.

        근·현대사 이후 한국인의 최다 선호 일반의약품의 추이에 대한 연대별 분석 및 종합적 의의에 대한 평가

        Over-the-counter (OTC) drugs refer to medicines that are generally safe when used according to the product label. We aimed to assess and reflect upon changes in perception of health and health-related demands by decades in Korea according to the consumption and sales trends of OTC drugs. This study was conducted by literature search on the production and sale rankings of OTC drug market in Korea. Changes in the OTC drug market were analyzed and organized by decades to evaluate changes in drug demands and the influence of national and societal factors. There was a specific trend in the most popular drugs by decades. In the 1950s, drugs of top necessity were antibiotics and helminthics. In the 1960s, the pharmaceutical industry quickly grew and invigorators, such as Bacchus$^{(R)}$, Alps$^{(R)}$, Aronamin$^{(R)}$, were top manufactured drugs. Popularity of these invigorating drinks and vitamin products continued until the 1990s. In 1990s, sales of topical nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (Ketotop Plaster$^{(R)}$, Trast Patch$^{(R)}$), and in 2000s, gum disease medicine (Insadol$^{(R)}$) and liver and intestine supplement (Ursa$^{(R)}$) were prominent. However, after the separation of prescribing and dispensing in 2000, the sales of OTC drugs decreased dramatically from 58.7% of the total market share in 1990s to 39.6% in 2000 and this trend has continued. In 2012, thirteen OTC drugs were allowed to be sold in convenience stores, and as the sales of health functional foods have been expanding beyond pharmacies, sales of invigorators and nutritional supplements in pharmacies have continued to decrease. As government's drug expenditure will continue to grow, reclassification of OTC drugs based on established safety information and deliberate team efforts on continued development of OTC drugs to meet the health demands of Koreans are required by the healthcare professionals, pharmaceutical industries, and the government.

        의류학 전공 대학생들의 패션디자인 독창성에 대한 자기효능감 연구

        본 연구는 앨버트 밴듀라(Albert Bandura)의 자기효능감 이론에 근거하여 의류학 전공 대학생들의 패션디자인 독창성에 대한 자기효능감 수준을 알아보고 이에 대한 선행요인들, 즉, 과거 성과, 대리 경험, 언어적 설득, 생리적 피드백과 인구통계적 특성의 영향을 알아보는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 의류학 전공 대학생들의 창의성과 윤리성을 고양시키기 위해서는, 학생들이 창의적 과정을 적극적으로 추구하면서 동시에 윤리적인 결정을 내릴 수 있도록 충분히 높은 자기효능감을 갖도록 하는 것이 중요하다. 따라서 학생들의 패션디자인 독창성에 대한 자기효능감에 영향을 미치는 것으로 선행연구에서 제시된 변수들의 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 전국의 의류학 관련 학과에서 패션디자인 과제를 수행해 본 경험이 있는 학생들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였고, 총 174부를 분석하였다. 패션디자인 독창성에 대한 자기효능감에 대한 선행요인으로 과거 성과, 대리 경험, 언어적 설득, 생리적 피드백 및 인구통계적 특성의 효과를 알아보기 위하여 단계적 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 첫 번째 단계에서는 과거 성과, 대리 경험, 언어적 설득, 생리적 피드백을 독립변수로 투입하였으며, 두 번째 단계에서는 인구통계적 특성을 독립변수로 추가 투입하였다. 그 결과 첫 단계에서는 과거 성과, 대리 경험, 생리적 피드백이 유의한 패션디자인 독창성에 대한 자기효능감에 대해 유의한 효과를 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 과거에 창의적·윤리적 패션디자인을 수행한 경험이 있거나, 다른 사람이 이러한 작업을 하는 것을 지켜본 경험이 있는 경우, 그리고 이러한 작업에 대한 스트레스를 적게 받는 경우 패션디자인 독창성에 대한 자기효능감이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 경향은 두 번째 단계에서 인구통계적 특성을 통제하였을 때에도 변화가 없었다. 단계 2에서 추가 투입된 인구통계적 특성 중에서는 성별만이 유의한 효과를 가졌는데, 여성보다 남성이 패션디자인 독창성에 대한 자기효능감이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 연구의 결과에 근거하여 대학의 교육자들이 학생들을 지도하는 데 도움을 주기 위한 교육적 함의가 제시되었다. The purpose of this study was to examine the influences of performance outcomes, oral persuasion, vicarious experience, and physiological feedback on fashion design and merchandising students’ creativity and ethical fashion design self-efficacy, based on Bandura’s theory. In order to foster both creativity and ethics among apparel design and merchandising students in higher education, it is essential to encourage students to have sufficiently high self-efficacy to make sound ethical decisions while actively pursuing their creative processes. South Korean college students majoring in fashion design and merchandising from ten different universities were surveyed through an online survey website. A total of 174 questionnaires were collected. Stepwise regression was used to analyze the data. On the first stage, creativity and ethical fashion design self-efficacy was regressed on performance outcomes, oral persuasion, vicarious experience, and physiological feedback. On the second stage, the dependent variable was regressed on demographic characteristics including age, gender, residence, and subjective social status in addition to the four precedent variables entered on the first stage. The results showed that performance outcomes and vicarious experience are positively correlated with self-efficacy and physiological feedback is negatively correlated with self-efficacy, even when the effects of demographic characteristics were controlled for. Among the demographic variables that were added on the second stage, only gender had significantly positive relationship with self-efficacy. Specifically, men showed higher creativity and ethical fashion design self-efficacy than women. Educational implications were suggested based on the results for the educators at a higher education level.

        LPS에 의한 급성 폐손상에서 게르마늄에 의한 폐포-모세혈관 장벽의 변화

        급성호흡곤란증후군은 다양한 원인에 의해 발생하는 급성 염증성 폐질환으로써 폐포-모세혈관 장벽의 파괴로부터 기인하며 파괴 기전에 호중구가 중요한 역할을 담당한다. 이에 대한 게르마늄의 항염증 효과 즉, 호중구의 폐조직 내 유주 억제로 인한 폐포-모세혈관의 손상의 감소로 폐손상이 경감되는지를 확인하고자 하였다. 실험군은 생리식염수를 투여한 대조군(CON), 내독소 5시간 투여군(LPS), 그리고 게르마늄 1시간 전처리 후 내독소 5시간 투여군(Ge+LPS)으로 나누었으며, 내독소는 $100{\mu}g$을 0.5 mL 생리식염수에 녹여 기도내로 분무하고, 게르마늄은 체중 100 g당 26 mg을 복강으로 투여하였다. 내독소의 주입으로 급성 폐손상을 유도시킨 내독소 투여군에서는 대조군과 비교하여 폐부종(p<0.001), 기관지폐세척액 내 단백질 함량(p<0.05), 호중구의 침윤(p<0.001)이 현저히 증가하였으나 게르마늄을 전처리 한 군은 내독소 투여군과 비교하여 모든 항목에서 유의하게 감소하였다. 현미경을 통한 관찰 결과에서도 게르마늄 전처리군은 내독소 투여군에 비해 내피세포, 제I형 폐포세포, 기저판으로 구성된 폐포-혈관장벽의 구조가 비교적 잘 보존되었고, 제II형 폐포세포의 Lamellar body와 미세융모 그리고 기저판의 구조도 비교적 정상적으로 보존된 상태로 나타났다. 그러므로 게르마늄은 항염증물질로 작용, 즉 호중구의 폐조직 내로의 유주현상을 방해하여 활성화된 호중구의 독성물질로 인한 폐포-모세혈관의 손상을 감소시킬 수 있었으므로 결과적으로 내독소로 유도된 폐손상은 게르마늄의 전처리에 의해 억제되었다고 판단된다. Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), also known as an acute inflammatory lung disease is developed by various factors that is originated from the destruction of alveolar-capillary barrier, and neutrophils plays an important role in the destruction. The study intended to confirm, the anti-inflammatory effect of germanium, whether a lung injury has been mitigated with the reduction of injury in alveolar-capillary barrier resulting from inhibition of neutrophils migration in lung tissue. Test groups were divided in saline administered CON, 5 hours of endotoxin administered LPS and 5 hours of endotoxin administered Ge+LPS following 1 hours of pre-processed germanium. $100{\mu}g$ endotoxin was melted in 0.5 mL saline and sprayed into airway and 26 mg germanium per 100 g weight was administered into abdominal cavity. The endotoxin group which induced an acute lung injury with administered endotoxin showed dramatic increase of pulmonary edema (p<0.001), protein contents in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, BALF (p<0.05) and neutrophils of infiltration in BALF (p<0.001) comparing with a control group, while a pre-treated germanium group showed significant decrease in all categories comparing to the endotoxin administerd group. In the result of a microscopic observation, the structure of alveolar-capillary barrier which is constructed with basal lamina, alveolar type I cells and endothelial cell were preserved of the pre-treated germanium group relatively well compare to the endotoxin administered group. And the construction of lamellar body, microvilli and basal lamina of alveolar type II cells were also preserved relatively well. Hence, germanium activates as an anti-Inflammatory mediator in other words, it interfered neutrophils migration into lung tissue, thereby reduced injury of alveolar-capillary barrier from toxic substances of activated neutrophils. Consequently, the study has determined that the acute lung injury induced by endotoxin has been decreased by the pre-treated germanium.

        TRIB: 블로그 댓글 분류 및 시각화 시스템

        최근 들어 블로그나 인터넷 게시판 등은 사람들의 정보 공유나 의견 교환의 중요한 매체가 되고 있으며, 많은 수의 블로그들이 사회적 문제들을 반영하고 있다. 온라인 커뮤니티에서 많은 사용자들은 댓글을 통해 인터넷 뉴스나 블로그 게시물에 대한 자신의 의견을 적극적으로 표현하고 있다. 블로그 사용이 활발해짐에 따라 수만개 이상의 댓글들이 등록되는 블로그들도 쉽게 찾을 수 있다. 대부분의 블로그나 인터넷 포털사이트의 경우 게시물이나 댓글들을 순차적인 목록 형태로 제공하므로 자신이 원하는 내용의 댓글을 검색하거나 전체 댓글에 대한 전반적인 파악이 힘들다. 본 논문에서는 게시물에 달린 많은 수의 댓글들을 분류하고, 이를 시각화 하는 시스템인 TRIB (Telescope for Responding comments for Internet Blog)를 제안한다. TRIB는 미리 정의된 사용자 정의 사전을 이용하여 댓글을 내용에 따라 분류하여 시각화한다. 또한, 사용자들의 관심과 흥미를 고려한 개인화 된 뷰를 제공한다. TRIB의 유용성을 보이기 위해서 1,000개 이상의 댓글을 가진 인터넷 게시물들을 대상으로 한 실험을 통해 TRIB 시스템의 댓글 분류와 시각화 성능을 보인다. In recent years, Weblog has become the most typical social media for citizens to share their opinions. And, many Weblogs reflect several social issues. There are many internet users who actively express their opinions for internet news or Weblog articles through the replying comments on online community. Hence, we can easily find internet blogs including more than 10 thousand replying comments. It is hard to search and explore useful messages on weblogs since most of weblog systems show articles and their comments to the form of sequential list. In this paper, we propose a visualizing and clustering system called TRIB (Telescope for Responding comments for Internet Blog) for a large set of responding comments for a Weblog article. TRIB clusters and visualizes the replying comments considering their contents using pre-defined user dictionary. Also, TRIB provides various personalized views considering the interests of users. To show the usefulness of TRIB, we conducted some experiments, concerning the clustering and visualizing capabilities of TRIB, with articles that have more than 1,000 comments.
