Objective: This paper is aimed to share our studies on application of 3D body scan data in ergonomic product design. Background: 3D body scan data has useful for analysis of size and shape characteristics of human body. But the 3D scan data is often limitedly used in product design due to complex and time-consuming procedure of processing the 3D scan data. Method: This study briefly introduces methods and technologies for analysis of size, sizing system, shape, shape variation, fit, pressure, and representative model based on numerous 3D body scan database. Application: The methods and systems have been studied by the present study are expected to be applicable in various researches on ergonomic product design.

Objective: This study aims to provide a comprehensive review of the literature on template model registration technologies and their applications in ergonomic product design. Background: The original 3D scan data of the human body has limitations in terms of its applicability due to lacking quality of mesh (e.g., missed scan areas and noise) and inconsistent postures between participants. Template model registration technologies are used to complement the lacking quality of raw 3D scan data in anthropometric research and ergonomic product design. Method: A literature review was conducted on 66 papers, which were selected by screening titles and abstracts of papers searched by keywords including template model, template matching, and template registration within ergonomics and computer graphics domains in Scopus. Results: A human template model generally consists of five elements: (1) point-cloud and mesh, (2) reference points, (3) skeletal structure of the body, (4) body segment, and (5) skin deformation characteristics. The template model is matched to a target image with a particular size, shape, and posture using a template model registration technology. Conclusion: The template model registration technology has a great potential in its applicability to ergonomic design and evaluation of products for a comfortable fit to the human body. Application: The template model registration technology can be effectively applied to the establishment of parameterized 3D human body database, automatic measurement of body sizes, analysis of the variation of body shapes, predictive analysis of the body posture, and customized design of a product.
인간공학적 제품 설계를 위한 한국인 머리의 3차원 템플릿 정합 이미지 데이터베이스 개발

Objective: A database of Korean 3D heads was developed using a template model registration method to increase its applicability for ergonomic product design. Background: A 3D scanned head database of more than 8,500 Koreans was established through the Size Korea project since 2004. While the anthropometric information of Size Korea has been used in the design of various products, 3D scan images have been rarely used because post-processing and landmarking are needed. Method: This study proposed a hybrid template model registration method consisting of steps of (1) global registration using the bounded biharmonic weight (BBW) algorithm based on 11 manually defined landmarks and (2) local optimization using the iterative closest point (ICP) algorithm. A head template containing the locations of 43 head and facial landmarks was used to create a template-registered head image database of 8,536 males and females (age: 7 to 77) of Korean civilians. Results: The template-registered images of Korean heads including the 43 anthropometric landmarks for anthropometric measurement of head dimensions were generated. The template-registered heads satisfy high correspondence in terms of the mesh structure. Conclusion: This study proposed a method of template model registration for the head and a database containing 8,536 template-registered heads was established by applying the proposed method. Application: The head database would be applied for anthropometric measurement of the head, analysis of a head sizing system, development of representative head models, analysis of shape variation, virtual evaluation of head wearable products, and design of ergonomic products such as medical masks, goggles, prosthetics, personal protective equipment, and sportswear, which require good fit and comfort.

An analysis of biosignal and performance data collected during driving has increasingly employed in research to explore a human-vehicle interface design for better safety and comfort. The present study developed a protocol and a system to effectively analyze biosignal and driving perfomlance measurements in various driving conditions. Electrocardiogram (ECG), respiration rate (RR), and skin conductance level (SCL) were selected for biosignal analysis in the study. A data processing and analysis protocol was established based on a comprehensive review of related literature. Then, the established analysis protocol was implemented to a computerized system so that immense data of biosignal and driving performance can be analyzed with ease, efficiency, and effectiveness for an individual and/or a group of individuals of interest. The developed analysis system would be of use to examine the effects of driving conditions to cognitive workload and driving performance.
미디어 교육 경험과 미디어 리터러시가 비판적 사고 성향에 미치는 영향

이 연구는 청소년의 미디어 소비가 급증하고 있는 상황에서 미디어 교육 경험과 미디어를 제대로 이해하고 활용할 수 있는 능력인 미디어 리터러시가 비판적 사고 성향에 어떠한 영향을 주는지에 초점을 맞추고 있다. 연구 결과, 미디어 교육 경험은 비판적 사고 성향에 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 학교에서의 미디어 교육 경험은 비판적 사고 성향의 모든 하위 영역에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤고, 가정에서의 미디어 교육 경험도 진실 추구성을 제외한 모든 영역에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 그리고 미디어 리터러시구성 요소 중에서 산업적 동기는 비판적 사고 성향의 모든 하위 영역에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 기술적 활용 능력은 체계성을 제외한 나머지 영역에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고, 자아 표현은 탐구성, 객관성, 체계성, 자기 신뢰성에 영향을 주었다. 수용자는 개방성, 체계성, 자기 신뢰성에 영향을 미치고 있었으며, 미디어 언어는 진실 추구성, 개방성, 객관성에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. The aim of this study is to confirm the effect of the experience of media education and the media literacy, the ability to understand and use media rightly. In the research results in this study, the experience of media education has a positive effect on the critical thinking disposition. Especially, the experience of media education in school influences all constituents of the critical thinking disposition positively and the experience of media education in home also does the constituents except for only truth-seeking positively. The industrial motivation, one of factors of the media literacy, has influence on all constituents of the critical thinking disposition, and the technical use ability, one of them, does the constituents except for systematicity. And inquisitiveness, objectivity, systematicity, and self-confidence of the critical thinking disposition are affected by the self-expression of the media literacy. The media audience factor has open-mindness, systematicity, and self-confidence of the disposition, and the media language factor does truth-seeking, open-mindness, and objectivity.
분산 데이터베이스 시스템에서의 교착상태 탐지기법의 성능평가

Choudhary의 선분추적 교착상태 탐지 알고리즘에서는 존재하는 교착상태를 찾지 못하는 경우가 있다. 이 문제를 수정한 알고리즘을 제안했었다. 본 논문에서는 수정 알고리즘과 트랜잭션-자원 그래프(TR graph)를 사용하는 Tsai의 알고리즘과의 성능을 비교하였다.
