Wall-modeled LES (WMLES) is promising to simulate a turbulent flow at high Reynolds number with a reasonable cost because the required computational cost of large-eddy simulation in the near-wall region is proportional to approximately square of the friction Reynolds number (Reτ). An equilibrium stress model is the most widely used method due to the high efficiency. However, this method is still required to enhance the accuracy and applicability because of the limitations of the equilibrium assumption. In the present study, an artificial neural network (ANN) is used to obtain the wall shear stress for WMLES. The proposed method shows good prediction on the profiles of mean velocity and Reynolds stresses compared to equilibrium model when direct numerical simulation dataset of turbulent channel flows is trained at Reτ=395, 540, 930 and 2000. In addition, the present method predicts well the turbulent statistics at Re<SUB>τ</SUB>=640 and 5200, which are untrained by the ANN.

This study primarily is concerned with a new device which has been developed following the international standards to measure the ventilation performance at elevated temperature. This device can measure duration of ventilation, performance of electricity, static pressure at elevated temperature and also it is having provision to measure reversible performances during fire hazards. Invented device is closed circuit type system which is best suited for korean industrial environment with low cost and high efficiency. International standards has been compared and performance testing has been major using BS 7346 which is tested by Warrington Fire Research Centre.

Numerical analysis of turbulent flow in three-dimensional channel with V-shaped ribs extruded on both walls has been carried out. Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes are calculated for analysis of fluid flow and heat transfer. Shear stress transport (SST) turbulence model is used as a turbulence closure. Computational results for heat transfer rate show good agreements with experimental data.
만성콩팥병 환자의 25-Hydroxyvitamin D 상태에 대한 단일기관 연구

Purpose: We checked the levels of serum 25-hydroxyvitmain D (25OHD) in the patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) to survey the status of vitamin D levels, to see the seasonal variations of 25OHD, and to evaluate the relationships among the levels of intact PTH, corrected calcium, and phosphorus. Methods: We defined vitamin D insufficiency and vitamin D deficiency as serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels between 20 and 30 ng/mL and below 20 ng/mL, respectively. 185 patients in a single center were enlisted who categorized into 3 groups, CKD2-3, CKD4, and CKD5 by eGFR using MDRD7 equation. To see the seasonal differences of the levels of 25OHD, we collected laboratory data two times per each patient during summer division (April to September) and winter division (October to March). Results: Prevalences of hypovitaminosis D were 42.8% (CKD2-3), 66.1% (CKD4), 92.8% (CKD5) in summer division and 48.7% (CKD2-3), 73.1% (CKD4), 92.8% (CKD5) in winter division. Seasonal difference of the levels of 25OHD was evident only in CKD stage 2-3 (p=0.018). Negative correlations were recognized between 25OHD and intact PTH (r=-0.2048, p<0.001), phosphorus (r=-0.1711, p=0.0011). Conclusion: Hypovitaminosis D is prevalent even in patients with early stages of CKD. The levels of 25OHD decreased significantly in winter division in patients with CKD stages 2-3. The levels of 25OHD were inversely correlated with those of intact PTH, phosphorus, respectively.

Advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with tumor thrombus extending through the hepatic veins, inferior vena cava, and right atrium (RA) is very rare. However, whether active treatments such as radiation, transcatheter arterial chemoembolization, and sorafenib in advanced HCC with RA involvement prolong survival is uncertain. We present a rare case of advanced HCC with tumor thrombus nearly occupying the entire RA that was treated with sorafenib. The patient received 400 mg sorafenib twice daily. However, her liver enzyme levels continued to increase and abdominal computed tomography showed an increase in the tumor size in the liver and RA. In the present case, active treatment with sorafenib was ineffective; thus, palliative care may be more beneficial in advanced HCC with extensive RA involvement. (J Liver Cancer 2018;18:142-145)
