The fluorescence excitation-emmission matrix (FEEM) of domestic waste water, treated effluent of waste water treatment plant, and receiving river water was analyzed to select wavelengths for the monitoring of organic contents as COD. 220 nm/350 nm and 270 nm/350 nm of excitation/emission wavelength for protein-like fluorescence and 240 mm/450 nm and 340 nm/450 nm for humic acid-like fluorescence were suggested as fluorescence peak emitting wavelength pairs, respectively. Without any pre-treatment, protein-like fluorescence peak showed better correlations between COD values and fluorescence intensities than humic acid-like fluorescence peak does. No enhancement in correlation was observed by removing the suspended solids in samples using filtration. However, statistical multiple regression methods, using fluorescence intensity from each peaks and light scattering intensity at 633nm/633nm as variables, resulted in drastic enhancement in correlations with r^2 > 0.9 for measured and predicted COD values.
매립지 침출수로 오염된 토양의 측정주파수에 따른 유전특성 변화

매립지 침출수로 오염된 지반의 오염도 조사에 유전상수 측정기법의 적용성을 평가하기 위하여 매립지 침출수로 오염된 간극수를 포함한 사질토 지반의 유전특성을 분석하였다. 본 연구에서는 75kHz-12MHz 범위의 주파수에서 유전 상수를 실수부와 허수부로 구분하여 분석을 수행하였다. 유전상수 실수부는 공간전하분극과 배향분극의 발현정도에 영향을 받기 때문에 침출수 농도가 증가함에 따라 저주파 영역에서는 유전상수의 실수부 값이 증가하는 경향을 나타내었으나, 고주파 영역에서는 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다. 유전상수 허수부의 경우에는 측정 주파수에 관계없이 침출수의 농도가 증가함에 따라 전류전도에 의한 에너지 손실량이 증대되어 유전상수 허수부가 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. 유전상수의 실수부와 허수부가 간극수 내 침출수 농도에 따라 변하는 것에 기초하여 유전상수 측정기법이 침출수로 오염된 지반의 오염도 평가에 효과적으로 적용될 수 있음을 확인하였다. To evaluate the applicability of dielectric constant measurement method on the geoenvironmental investigation of subsurface contaminated by landfill leachate, the analysis on dielectric characteristics of sand containing contaminated pore water by landfill leachate was performed. The separate real and imaginary parts of dielectric constant were investigated in the frequency range of 75kHz to 12MHz. The real part of dielectric constant increased at the lower frequency wherea the real part of dielectric constant decreased at the higher frequency as the concentration of leachate increased. These results can be explained by the frequency dependence of space charge polarization and orientation polarization. The imaginary part of dielectric constant on the contaminated sand with leachate increased with their concentration for whole frequency range. These results are caused by the increase of energy loss due to the enhancement of conduction in soil with leachate concentration. The results in this study indicate that the dielectric constant measurement method has potential in evaluating the contaminated soil and pore water by landfill leachate.
이산화염소에 의한 용존성 망간 산화생성물의 여과막에 의한 제거

Removal of dissolved manganese by chlorine dioxide and membrane filtration was investigated. Dissolved manganese was oxidized rapidly into manganese dioxide particles by chlorine dioxide. The oxidized form was very stable for hours that gravitational separation is not feasible. The particle size distribution(PSD) was analyzed during settlement test. No noticeable chage in PSD was observed. MF filter was not effective to reject the colloidal particles of manganese dioxide formed by chlorine dioxide, However, polysulfone ultrafilter of 50K MWCO showed complete rejection of the colloidal manganese dioxide particles. Adsorption of dissolved manganese on pre-oxidized manganese dioxide particle was 6 - 7 mmole Mn(Ⅱ) per mole MnO_2(s). Enhanced removal by continuous oxidation and MF filtration was suggested by batch experiments.
