`입체조형` 수업의 활용재료로서 이쑤시개의 유용성 연구 -산업디자인학과 수업사례를 중심으로-

본 연구목적은 산업디자인학과의 전공기초교과 `입체조형`에서 조형제작을 용이하고 흥미 있는 수업이 되도록 사용재료 및 제작방법을 모색하려는 것이다. 연구범위는 `입체조형` 수업방법으로 이쑤시개 조형의 논리와 사례조사와 실험제작이다. 연구방법은 조형실험으로 수업에서 약 6.5센티 이쑤시개를 재료로 다양한 입체조형 제작을 했다. 본 실험을 위해 다음 조건을 설정했다. 1) 조형의 주제와 소재 사용은 자유이고 제한을 두지 않는다. 2) 재료사용은 주 재료는 이쑤시개이고, 보조 재료는 자유 선택이며 임의로 변형하여 사용할 수 있고, 다양한 표현계획이 가능하다. 3) 본 작업의 기대효과는 이쑤시개 사용의 조형표현 가능성 확장과 재료로서 유용한 방법적 경험이다. 이상 세 가지 목표와 조건에 따라 제작하고 학생의 소감과 지도교수의 직관적 분석과 평가를 하였다. 조형작업은 관찰이 중요하여 이를 경험토록 하였다. 결론으로 `입체조형`의 재료로서 이쑤시개 사용은 유용성이 있음을 확인했다. 그 근거는 이쑤시개의 `입체조형` 제작수업의 결과에서 나타났다. 이 제작수업에서 유용성의 효과는 1)입체조형 활용기법 발안능력 배양. 2)점, 선, 면, 괘 등 표현과 다차원적 조형표현, 감성가치의 경험. 3) 목재의 특성이해, 산업디자인전공 감각개발. 4)이쑤시개 활용성 확산 모색. 5)다양한 표현 가능성 인지. 6)조형과 가치개발의 필요성 인식. 7)창의성 유발 매체로서 인식 등으로 평가되었다. 물론 한계적 요소도 있었다. 본 연구의 실험을 통하여 이쑤시개가 `입체조형` 수업의 재료로 유용성이 있음을 확인하였다. The purpose of this paper is to find out a viable, yet fun and engrossing way of using materials and assembly methodology for the Dimensional Form class of the foundation year of industrial design majors. The scope of this paper covers the may usages of the toothpick as a basic element for such assembly and class assignments. The methodology to undergo such discovery was to give students toothpicks, roughly 6.5 centimeters long, and see how they approach this assignment. The following were considered in this observation: 1) no limitation on what the students could make, or add in materials 2) the main material used must be the toothpick with additional supportive materials added when it was felt useful to do so. 3) the expected outcome of this assignment was to see how creative students could be with a strictly limited set of materials. Based on the above three criteria, we asked for student opinions as well as the insight of instructors as well as their analysis. As form making relies heavily on observation it is also important that students practice and hone this skill. In conclusion, we found that using toothpicks for an assignment in the Dimensional Form curriculum was useful. The basis for such a conclusion is found in the final assignments conducted in that class. The findings are broken down as the following: 1) adapting skills learned during the assignment with increased observational skills 2) point, line, plane principles as well as multi-dimensional form-making and emotional experience 3) understanding wood as a form making material 4) the toothpick as a element to build and expand 5) alternate methods of expression 6) a need to express form in an accurate way 7) a viable method of creativity etc. There were of course, a few limitations discovered during this observation. Through this paper we would like to show the viability of the toothpick as a tool for understanding dimensional form.

미생물 형상을 활용한 기초디자인 콘셉트조형 실험에 관한 연구 -산업디자인전공 수업을 중심으로-

본 연구의 목적은 산업디자인에서 콘셉트 가치의 중요성에 따라 감성적 매력의 선호요소인 디자인조형의 개발능력과 디자인 창의능력을 함양하기 위함이다. 산업디자인의 선호가치 개발을 위한 디자인조형요소로서 미생물 형상을 활용한 기초디자인 콘셉트조형 실험으로 조형가치 유효성을 모색하고자 한다. 연구범위는 미생물 형상의 독특성, 신비감 등의 특징요소가 디자인조형의 다양한 가치가 될 수 있다는 가설을 전제로 미생물 관련이론 및 형상을 고찰하고 미생물 형상 콘셉트를 활용한 실제적 제품디자인과 공간디자인 프로젝트 사례를 조사, 분석하였다. 대학 산업디자인학과 `기초디자인`수업 참여 학생을 대상으로 조형감각과 직관능력 함양을 위한 콘셉트조형실험, 설문조사 및 분석으로 미생물 형상의 디자인조형 소재가치의 유효성을 확인하는 과정까지 연구범위로 하였다. 연구방법은 미생물 형상 조사는 주로 인터넷사이트를 활용하고 이론탐구는 선행연구논문과 문헌을 중심으로 하였다. 본 논문의 독창성 검증은 선행연구논문실태를 조사, 대조 하였다. 사례연구는 작품 및 제품사례를 인터넷사이트에서 검색 활용하였고 기초디자인 콘셉트조형실험은 `기초디자인`수업 수강학생들의 콘셉트 부여 조형실험에서 5개 표본추출과 17개 조형실험 자료를 제시하였다. 조형실험 후 수업에 참여한 학생들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였고 그 결과 전체 응답자의 81%가 육안인지가 불가능한 미생물 형상의 조형적 활용에 흥미를 느꼈다는 반응을 보였다. 결론은 본 미생물형상을 활용한 콘셉트 조형실험은 미생물 형상이 디자인조형의 소재로서 생소함, 색다름, 흥미요소, 사고의 전환, 형상적 다양성 등 다양한 측면에서 유용한 대상으로서 가치가 있음을 확인하였다. The purpose of this study is to incorporate skills to develop design form as well as design creativity based on emotional preferences in industrial design concepts. To develop such skills, micro-organism based design form fundamentals were used to develop a viable design form. The scope of this study was uniqueness, mysticism as a prerequisite for further investigation and study into the forms of these organisms and how they function from a design perspective as they are applied to an industrial design or even space design context within actualised projects. Fundamental design class industrial design majors were given the task of experimenting with concept and form, with a survey of the validity of micro-organisms as a subject for learning the basics in design. Methodology was visual research through the internet with theory from theses and papers related to the subject. The validity of this paper was researched from other prior papers as well as other publications. Examples were found from the internet with class work from 5 samples with a total of 17 samplings of the fundamental design class students. Based on this survey, 81% of students agreed that the form of an organism unseen by the naked eye was exceptionally intriguing and worthy of further study. In conclusion, it has been established that fundamental design concepts based on micro-organisms can provide a unique, compelling, new thinking, diversity of form-making for design form classes is beneficial.

안경의 시대적 가치 확장과 디자인의 신 경향성 연구

현대 안경은 그 역할이 더욱 확장되어 본격적인 시대 가치를 표현하는 럭셔리 패션아이템이 되고 있다. 본 연구는 안경이 사용되고 있는 실태를 배경으로 이 시대 안경디자인 경향성과 선호되는 안경브랜드가 무엇인지 살펴보고자 하였다. 인간의 외양 표현을 촉진하는 안경디자인의 근래 경향성을 알아보고자 하였고 그 방법으로 명품안경 하우스브랜드에서 나타난 특징들을 살펴보았다. 성격이 다른 6개의 안경 하우스브랜드를 선택하여 디자인에서 표현된 브랜드정체성과 시대적 특성에 대해서 조사, 분석하였다. 6개 안경 하우스브랜드 디자인의 특징적 내용은 다음과 같았다. 안네 엣 발렌틴(Anne et Valentin)의 ‘LIBE A76’은 그로테스크와 엘레강스한 스타일과 청아한 색감 및 실루엣이 특징이고, 몬테로사(Monterosa)의 ‘Brig’은 놈코어((Normcore)의 절제된 세련미, 테오(Theo)의 ‘Shuffle’은 아방가르드한 실험성과 독특한 형태성을 보여 주었고, 린드버그(Lindberg)의 ‘Strip 9700’은 스마트 기술성과 편의성 및 국제적 어워드를 세계 최다로 수상 하였다. 크롬하츠(Chrome Hearts)의 ‘GITTIN ANY’은 프리미엄과 중세기풍의 예술성 그리고 부의 상징성이 특징이었고, 햅터(Hapter)의 ‘txt1001’은 이노베이션과 신소재 그리고 혁신적 시도 등이 특징이었다. 6개 안경브랜드의 사례에서 각각 특징 있는 디자인을 구사하며 독자적인 브랜드 정체성을 유감없이 시각화하여 보여주었다. 이러한 사례분석의 결론으로 안경은 기술보다도 패션이 더 중요한 성공의 요인이라는 점을 확인할 수 있었다. Modern eyewear with expanded roles and function have become an authentic fashion icon representing “luxury” as expressing contemporary values in our society. This study aims to investigate preferred brands and design trends based on the background of its usages in the contemporary era. The research also seeks recent tendency of eyewear that reflects a personal expression from the analysis of the characteristics within high-end line of the house brand products. Total six brands of the different attributes were selected for the survey to approach findings of “brand identity” and “characteristics of contemporary design trends.” The findings of the survey are; 1) ‘LIBE A76’ of Anne et Valentin brand appears its identity as being grotesque and elegant with pure colors and tones, 2) ’Brig’ of Monterosa brand shows restrained sophistication of the aesthetics, 3)’Shuffle’ of Theo brand experiments unique form and shape of Avant-Grade, 4)’Strip 9700’ of Lindberg brand received most awards on the smart technology and convenience 5) ’GITTIN ANY’ of the Chrome Hearts brand appears its characteristic as being represented for a premium and artistic value of Middle Ages era style and a symbol of wealth, 6) ’txt1001’ of Hapter brand innovated a new material. In conclusion, each brand shows its own identity and design through visual appearances. This finding underpins that consideration of the fashion style is more important than considering mechanical development for making the eyewear design successful.

동북아 디자인의 공통적 가치와 국제화 모색 -야나기 무네요시와 빅터 파파넥의 관점에 기초하여

디자인과 공예의 개념과 성격은 기본적으로 민중의 생활과 기술, 풍속 그리고 내면세계가 담겨져 있다. 그리하여 이것을 용(用)과 미(美)의 가치로 표출한다. 특히, 전통공예는 각 나라나 민족, 지역에 따라 그 양태의 특성을 보이고 있고 한국의 공예도 이러한 점에서 역시 나름의 특징이 있다. 본 연구 중에서 공예에 관해서는 한국공예에 심취하여 많은 글을 썼던 일본인 야나기 무네요시의 관점에서 고찰해 보았다. 그리고 디자인은 그 특징에 따라 다양한 관점과 견해를 보일 수 있을 것이나 현대디자인에서 새로운 가치를 강조한 빅터 파파넥의 견해를 중심으로 상고하고 연구하였다. 오늘날 공예와 디자인은 인간의 진솔한 생활과 정신세계, 예술성 그리고 실용가치에 따른 민중생활의 표출 그리고 세계화와 지역성 확장, 보편성 문제 등 여러 가지 내용을 드러내고 있다. 공예와 디자인분야에서 탁월한 식견과 판단을 가졌던 두 선각자의 혜안에 기초하여 동북아시아의 공예, 디자인이 국제화 할 수 있는 방안에 대해서 숙고하였다. 역사를 통해 본 공예, 디자인의 진정한 가치와 오늘날 발전하는 동북아시아의 민중들의 삶의 단면을 통하여 이 지역의 특징이 국제화 할 수 있는 가치를 모색하였다. The concept and characteristics of design and craft reflects the lives, culture, skills, and minds of the people who created them. Their values are expressed in usage and beauty. In particular, traditional craft shows unique characteristics of its nation, people, and region. Korean craft is also unique in its own way. In this study, research on craft is based on the perspective of Yanaki Muneyoshi, a Japanese scholar who was fascinated by Korean craft and left numerous writings on the subject. As of design, there are various opinions on the subject, but this study focuses on the views of Victor Papanek, who stressed new values in modern design. Today craft and design represent many aspects of the world such as our daily lives, mindset, artistic value, regional characteristics, and globalization. Based on the insights of the two pioneers, this study contemplates on ways to internationalize craft and design of Northeast Asia and seeks values that can be spread to the world through true historical values of craft/design and modern lives of Northeast Asian people.

한국기초조형학회 성장기의 운영정책과 성과 고찰 - 2004~5년 실태를 중심으로-

한국기초조형학회는 1999년 7월 창립한 이후 13년을 지내오는 동안 다른 학회와 비교하여 빠르고 건실한 학술적 성장을 하였다고 평가받고 있다. 이는 학회창립 후 최단기간에 학술지 ‘기초조형학 연구’가 한국연구재단 등재학술지로 승인되었으므로 이와 같은 평가는 적절한 것이라고 볼 수 있다. 또 학회의 창의적인 경영과 재정 건실성도 다른 학회와 비교하여 우월하다고 할 수 있을 것이다. 이와 같은 운영방법이 학회 가운데 모범적인 사례가 되고 있고 일부 다른 학회들이 운영을 모방을 하는 사례도 나타나고 있다고 사료된다. 그래서 이러한 모범적인 성장이 어떻게 하여 가능하게 되었는지 조사, 분석하고 이에 대한 평가가 필요하다고 사료되어 본 연구를 하게 되었다. 학회는 성장기에 발전적인 사업정책을 펼쳤으며 그중에서 회원정보 명확화 추진, 학회 홈페이지 개선, 학술지의 연4회 증간 등을 정열적으로 추진하였다. 이 정책 추진의 성과로 학회의 성장이 도모되었다. 특히 소통을 잘 할 수 있는 인적요소는 학회 발전에 긍정적으로 작용하였으며 이러한 배경에서 당 학회의 성장기 발전이 가능하였고 그런 환경 속에서 발전을 촉진할 수 있는 여러 가지 사업들이 유익하게 전개되었다고 판단되었다. 당 학회가 성장기 발전의 촉매 역할을 한 것이 무엇인지 연구하는 것은 후속세대를 위해서도 가치 있는 일이 될 것이다. The Korean Society of Basic Design & Art(KSBDA) was founded in July 1999. Since then, KSDBA has recognized as its academic growth during 13 years, has been more robust and faster, compared with other academic societies This Society journal ``Research of Basic Design & Art Studies`` was approved to listed journals by Korea National Research Foundation within the shortest period, after the founding KSDBA. In addition, This Society`s creative management and fiscal health are more superior, compared with other societies. Such management method of KSBDA is the best case about academic society management, and seems to be the case also appears to mimic the operation of other Society. The purpose of this study is how these exemplary growth had been made possible by research and analysis on the KSBDA`s management. And then evaluation will be needed to find out. Society has promoted growth in the development of business policies. The Society had propelled project and planned policy for internet site improvements, clarification of membership information and a journal published at four times during the year. This project had been pursued passionately, and Society had been made significant advances by this policy. In particular, the human elements that can communicate well, had positive effect on the development of the Society. And Society`s rapid growth had been made possible. In such an environment, Society`s project which can facilitate the development had been deployed. This study has to research on per Society of the role as a catalyst in the development of growth. I just think it`s worthwhile for subsequent generations.
