In this paper, we have proposed a simple finite element model for separation mode analysis on the roadwheel and track assembly of main battle tank and established a contact stress-based mechanism which could explain the initiation and growth of separation defect occurred during the test of padreplacable track. It was proved that the longitudinal contact shear stress component on the pin hole region of the track shoe body which is parallel to the driving direction is consistent with the crack initiation at the bonding surface between track shoe and wheel-side rubber. The longitudinal shear stress increased locally near the separated region after the separation initiated. So we could assume that the local stress concentration accelerates the separation growth according to the shear mode.

The idler wheel installed at the front side of the newly developed tracked vehicle didn't meet the durability requirement by showing the crack failure near the jointed region at the wheel during the field test. To find the crack developing mechanism we constructed finite element model for the idler wheel representing the behavior of interface between each suspension units, material properties from the material test data and actual loading conditions. This paper shows a result that maximum von Mises stress near the bolt hole on the outer rim is higher than inner idler coressponding to the actual test result and that result was reversed by adopting the reinforcement outside of the outer rim.
유한요소법을 이용한 궤도용 고무패드의 마모 예측 및 설계에 관한 연구

In this paper, we have proposed a wear growth prediction method on the surface of rubber pad of track assembly installed in high-speed battle tank i.e. the automatic model updating code interfacing with commercial finite element simulation software. Also, simple and resonable geometrical, material finite element model was established to be easily updated based on the empirical threshold value of contact pressure on the contact surface. From the iterative model update and analysis results, we discovered a weak point on rubber pad surface and suggested a new design concept for improving the wear performance of track assembly.
건물냉방부하에 대한 동적 인버스 모델링기법의 EnergyPlus건물모델 적용을 통한 성능평가

This paper describes the application of an inverse building model to a calibrated forward building model using EnergyPlus program. Typically, inverse models are trained using measured data. However, in this study, an inverse building model was trained using data generated by an EnergyPlus model for an actual office building. The EnergyPlus model was calibrated using field data for the building. A training data set for a month of July was generated from the EnergyPlus model to train the inverse model. Cooling load prediction of the trained inverse model was tested using another data set from the EnergyPlus model for a month of August. Predicted cooling loads showed good agreement with cooling loads from the EnergyPlus model with root-mean square errors of 4.11%. In addition, different control strategies with dynamic cooling setpoint variation were simulated using the inverse model. Peak cooling loads and daily cooling loads were compared for the dynamic simulation.

This paper presents simulated and experimental test results of optimal control algorithm for an encapsulated ice thermal storage system with full capacity chiller operation. The algorithm finds an optimal combination of a chiller and/or a storage tank operation for the minimum total operation cost through a cycle of charging and discharging. Dynamic programming is used to find the optimal control schedule. The conventional control strategy of chiller-priority is the baseline case for comparing with the optimal control strategy through simulation and experimental test. Simulation shows that operating cost for the optimal control with chiller on-off operation is not so different from that with chiller part load capacity control. As a result from the experimental test, the optimal control operation according to the simulated operation schedule showed about 14% of cost saving compared with the chiller-priority control.
RETScreen 모델이용 태양열온수시스템 초기설계단계 설계용량 최적화기법의 TRNSYS 모델과의 비교분석

This paper describes a method for size optimization of the major design variables for solar water heating systems at the stage of concept design. The widely used RETScreen simulation tool was used for optimization. Currently, the RETScreen tool itself does not provide a function for optimization of the design parameters. In this study, an optimizer was combined with the software. A comparative study was performed to evaluate the RETScreen-based approach with the case study of a solar heating system in an office building. The optimized results using the RETScreen model were compared to previously published results with the TRNSYS model. The objective function of the optimization is the life-cycle cost of the system. The optimized design results from the RETScreen model showed good agreement with the optimized TRNSYS results for the solar collector area and storage volume, but presented a slight difference for the collector slope angle in terms of the converged direction of the solutions. The energy cost, life-cycle cost, and thermal performance regarding collector efficiency, system efficiency, and solar fraction were compared as well, and the RETScreen model showed good agreement with the TRNSYS model for the conditions of the base case and optimized design.
