This study was conducted to investigate the difference in callus growth among tomato genotypes on different media supplemented with IAA and kinetin. Leaf discs of different genotypes of tomato were cultured on MS medium supplemented with 1㎎/ℓ IAA+ 2㎎/ℓ kinetin, 2 ㎎/ℓIAA+ 1 ㎎/ℓ kinetin, and 2㎎/ℓLAA+ 2㎎/ℓkinetin. Fresh weight of callus was high in Heung 12-5 -8-1, (84-70) -IT-1 and (MER-3 × 93603B)F1, but low in Hongme Gadan, (Heungjinl2 ×83603A)F₁and 430-2-2-1-2-1-2-3. Root formation was stimulated on the medium containing 2㎎/ℓ IAA+1㎎/ℓ kinetin. The present results indicate that tomato callus growth is affected by genotype and plant growth regulators in the culture media but root formation is affected more by IAA and kinetien concentration in the culture media.
