Objectio ostinato the carcinogenic risks from the ingestion of some carcinogenic pesticides (CPs) in vegetables sampled at a local agricultural product market in Seoul. Methods: After applying a hazard identification step, we selected four pesticides, such as DDT, dieldrin, folpet, and heptachlor epoxide, for this risk assessment. Concentrations of each pesticide were measured from randomly sampled vegetables. In order to estimate the human exposure levels, we combined the concentration of pesticides in the vegetables with consumption rate of those vegetables. Three scenarios were hypothesized for human exposure assessment. Scenario I was the most conservative which supposed the undetected CPs would be the detection limit values. Scenario II was assumed that the undetected CPs would be a half of the detection limit values, and finally scenario III merely considered only values greater than the detection limit values. We finally presented the estimated carcinogenic risks on the basis of the traditional risk assessment procedure suggested by U.S. EPA. Results: Pesticides including DDT, dieldrin, folpet and heptachlor epoxide were detected in 9 samples (6%) in the range of $0.0006\sim0.09ppm$. The daily intake levels of carcinogenic pesticides were estimated in the range of $0.0009\sim0.0079{\mu}g/day$. As we expected, excess cancer risks based on scenario I was also the highest $(1.1\times10^{-8}\sim5.5\times10^{-5})$. Conclusions: We found that the estimated risks from the pesticides we investigated were not serious. We, however, propose that a continuos monitoring is needed to make sure for the protection of public health.

입효산(立效散)의 Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus에 대한 항균활성에 관한 연구

Objectives : Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) has a cephalosporin and beta-lactam antibiotic-resistant strains. MRSA is one of the major pathogens causing hospital infection and the isolation ratio of MRSA has gradually increased. Consequently, increased resistance to antibiotics is causing serious problems in the world. Therefore, there is a need to develop alternative antimicrobial drugs for the treatment of infectious diseases. Methods : The antibacterial activities of Ipyo-san were evaluated against 2 strains of MRSA and 1 standard Methicillin-susceptible staphylococcus aureus (MSSA) strain by using the disc diffusion method, minimal inhibitory concentrations (MIC) assay, colorimetric assay using MTT test, checkerboard dilution test and time-kill assay performed under dark. Results : The MIC of Ipyo-san water extract against S. aureus strains ranged from 1000 to $2,000{\mu}g/ml$, so we confirmed that it had a strong antibacterial effect. Also, the combinations of Ipyo-san water extract and conventional antibiotics exhibited improved inhibition of MRSA with synergy effect. We suggest that Ipyo-san water extract against MRSA has antibacterial activity so it has potential as alternatives to antibiotic agents. For the combination test, we used Triton X-100 (TX) and DCCD for measurement of membrane permeability and inhibitor of ATPase. As a result, antimicrobial activity of Ipyo-san water extract was affected by the cell membrane. Conclusions : We suggest that the Ipyo-san water extract lead the treatment of bacterial infection to solve the resistance and remaining side-effect problems that are the major weak points of traditional antibiotics.

Six sigma practice was introduced in the Korea post division from August, 2003 because the facing postal environment was changed. The Six Sigma success factors which allowed to be successfully introduced in the Korea Post division are infrastructure related factors, organization cultures, operation of belt system, development of six sigma experts, and activate team activities. But for the strategic aspects among the six sigma success factors, CEO leadership, project selection are necessary, first. Second, education and training for the continuous development is required. Third, various assessment compensation and regulations are needed for the practicing aspect of six sigma projects. Maintaining the results of such projects is also necessary. The most important thing is to systematize customized six sigma according to the needs of Korea Post division. Many companies established the ISO 9000 quality management system for many years. However, the cost of quality process in the ISO 9000 quality management system was not correctly settled in many cases.

ISO 9000 품질경영시스템에 의한 품질비용 프로세스가 사업성과에 미치는 영향에 관한 사례연구

Many companies established the ISO 9000 quality management system for many years. However, the cost of quality process in the ISO 9000 quality management system was not correctly settled in many cases. This study was analyzed for the theoretical background of cost of quality and ISO 9001 quality management system and examined the effect of them on the business performance by using K company case. We found some suggestions as follows. First, understand and apply measurement for analysis of the cost of quality according to ISO 9000: 2000 requirements. Second, understand and Apply measurement for analysis of the cost of Quality according to ISO 9004: 2000 Guide line. Third, apply operation method and procedure of ISO 9000 managements system and the cost of quality process effectively. Fourth, improve management performance through integrated ISO 9000 managements system and the cost of quality process. As a result, the effect of ISO 9000 requirements and ISO 9004 performance guideline approach to cost of quality process was business performance improved by 56 % in terms of sales volume.

한국 임금 근로자의 직장 내 폭력 경험과 근골격계 증상과의 연관성에 관한 연구

Objectives: We aimed to examine the association between experience of workplace violence and musculoskeletal pain among wage workers in South Korea. Methods: We analyzed a cross-sectional survey of 29,601 wage workers from the third wave Korean Working Conditions Survey in 2011. Experience of workplace violence was assessed through three questions, “Over the past 12 months, have you ever experienced: (1) physical violence, (2) bullying, or (3) sexual harassment at workplace?” Musculoskeletal pain was measured using the three questions, “Over the past 12 months, have you ever experienced: (1) low back pain, or (2) upper limb pain(i.e. shoulder, neck, and arm), or (3) lower limb pain(i.e. hip, leg, knee, and foot)?” Wage workers could answer ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ to each of the three questions. Multivariate negative binomial regression was applied to examine the association between workplace violence and musculoskeletal pain after adjusting for confounders including self-reported physical work factors. All analyses were performed using STATA/SE version 13.0. Results: Physical violence was associated with low back pain(PR: 2.16, 95% CI: 1.77, 2.65), upper(PR: 1.65, 95% CI: 1.45, 1.88) and lower limb pain(PR: 1.81, 95% CI: 1.52, 2.15) among male wage workers whereas it was related to upper(PR: 1.86, 95% CI: 1.53, 2.26) and lower limb pain(PR: 2.95, 95% CI: 2.47, 3.53) among female wage workers. Significant association was observed between sexual harassment and upper(PR: 1.25, 95% CI: 1.01, 1.56) and lower limb pain(PR: 2.41, 95% CI: 1.97, 2.93) among female wage workers whereas the association was only significant in the analysis with lower limb pain(PR: 1.87, 95% CI: 1.17, 2.97) among male wage workers. Bullying was associated only with lower limb pains among both male(PR: 1.77, 95% CI: 1.32, 2.37) and female(PR: 2.10, 95% CI: 1.69, 2.61) wage workers. Conclusions: This study found that experience of workplace violence, particularly physical violence and sexual harassment, was associated with musculoskeletal pain among Korean wage workers.

This study proposes the factore of consultation skills of customer service in discount store and the relationship between those and customer satisfaction. And it tried to find out the relationship between customer satisfaction and repurchase. This paper suggests that the consultation skills of customer service in discount store have strong relationship with customer satisfaction except product professional knowledge. And also have strong relationship between customer satisfaction and repurchase.

ISO 14001 환경시스템 요구사항이 사업성과에 미치는 영향에 관한 탐색적 연구

This study is to verify the effects of ISO 14001 environmental management system requirements on business performance. Many korean companies faced the needs of environmental management because of the sustainability but they do not meet the needs so far. The one way to meet those needs is to obtain the ISO 14001 EMS certification. Therefore in this study, the research question is that ISO 14001 environmental management system requirements such as environmental policy, planning, implementing and operation, checking and management review will affect the business performance. In order to achieve this goal, the hypotheses were set and questionnaire were gathered and data were analyzed. The results were as follows. First, environmental policy affected positively to the planning and the implementation and operation. Second, planning, implementation and operation affected positively to the checking. Third checking affected positively to the management review. Finally management review affected positively to the business performance. This result shows that companies should obtain ISO 14001 certification to increase business performance and competitiveness in the global market.

6 시그마와 TQM의 핵심성공요소가 경영성과에 미치는 영향

Total quality management(TQM) and Six Sigma are widely used by many companies for quality management innovation, but they have realized that there are no big differences between two concepts. This study is about the effects of critical success factors of Six Sigma and TQM on the business performances. In this paper, multiple regression analysis was used to analyse the effects. The results are as follows. First, Six Sigma critical success factors influenced the TQM critical success factors except for process improvement. Second, TQM critical success factors had a considerable impact on the business performances. This study suggested that because TQM key elements such as continuous improvement, CEO leadership, process management and the establishment of mutual trust were all very helpful for quality and customer satisfaction. In conclusion, quality management is the most successful factor to improve the competitive goals within the company.
