In pre-tensionedd concrete structures, the required prestressing forces for harped tendon are smaller at the midspan than for the straight tendon. Hence, harped tendons can be used for the large prestressed members. For harped tendon profile, the prestressing bed is provided with holding-down devices. In this paper, the effect of harped tendon profiles during detensioning was investigated experimentally. For the purpose of this, T-shape beam with harped tendons were cast and tested. During detensioning, the strains were measured through the use of electrical resistance strain gauges attached on transversal stirrups near cut end and on the surface of the tendons near holding-down device. Test results showed that there was no effect of strain at transversal stirrups and there was little loss of prestress at harped tendon.
