This survey was carried out to investigate the infectivity of bovine coronavirus (BCV) from calves in Seosan-Taean Area. A total of 75 samples were collected from fecal swab to examine the detection of BCV in fecal by RT-PCR and antimicrobial susceptibility test. Result obtained through the survey were as follows; BCV was isolated from 13 of the 75 sample of fecal swab of calves. In detection rate of the calves under 3 month, BCV was highest. Viral detection was examined by RT-PCR (455bp). Antimicrobial drug susceptibility of fecal swab-test were showed that the isolated were susceptibility to amikacin (85%), enrofloxacin (75%), ampicillin (66%).

This survey was carried out to investigate the prevalence of bovine coronavirus (BCV) infection for the calves in Seosan-Taean Area. A total of 75 samples were collected from fecal swab to detect BCV by RTPCR Results obtained through the survey were as follows; By RT-PCR (455bp) BCV was detected from 13 of the 75 sample of fecal swab from calves. The calves under 3 month showed the highest BCV detection rate.
강원(江原) 동해안지역(地域) 도축돈(屠畜豚)의 전염성(傳染性) 관절염(關節炎)에 관한 조사(調査)

This study was conducted to investigate the infectious arthritis on pigs slaughter in eastern Kangweon. During the period of between Feb. and Nov. 1992, 469 pigs were sampled at six abattoirs. Bacterial isolation and identification were perfomed from the arthritic lesions. In addition, drug susceptibility for the major isolated microoganisms were examined. The results obtained were summarized as follows: 1. From arthritic lesions bacteria were most frequently isolated, isolation rate being 21.1%. 2. The bacteria isolated from arthritic lesion, Staphylococcus spp.(33.9%), Coli form(39.3%) were most frequently isolated, while the genera of Mycoplasma were detected less frequently. 3. Antimicrobial drug susceptibility of the major organisms showed that all the isolated bacteria were susceptible to SXT(91.0%), cephalothin(82.5%), but resisted to penicillin and streptomycin.

This survey was carried out to investigate the infectivity of paratuberculosis (Johne’s disease) from dairy cattle in Seosan-Taean area. From February to August in 2009, milk samples were collected from 254 M.R.T. samples of 57 farms and the ELISA was conducted. 13 (5.1%) M.R.T. samples of 3 (5.2%) farms were positive in ELISA. In regional analysis, 1 (3.1%) of 34 farms in Seasan and 2 (8.6%) of 23 farms in Taean were positive in ELISA. According to raising scale of dairy cattle, 2 (66%) farms out of 3 positive farms were raising 30 below and 1 (33%) farms out of were raising 30 over.

Methicillin-resistant coagulase-negative staphylococci (MRCNS) were isolated from the respiratory sites of chickens in 4 farms and slaughter house located in Chungnam provinces. Isolation of coagulase-negative staphylococci (CNS) was positive for 61 (26.6%) of the 229 chickens tested, and isolation of MRCNS was positive for 17 (27.9%) of the isolated CNS. A total of 17 MRCNS isolates were selected and subjected to identification. Of the 17 MRCNS isolates selected, 6 were identified as Staphylococcus cohnii, 2 as S. saprophyticus, 3 as S. simulans, 3 as S. lentus, 2 as S. carnosus, and 1 as S. xylosus. The MRCNS isolates were resistant to many beta-lactam antibiotics, and some isolates were also resistant to macrolide and aminoglycoside antibiotics. The mecA gene was detected in some isolates of each MRCNS strains. The mecA-positive isolates were classified into five staphylococcal cassette chromosome mec (SCCmec). SCCmec types I to IV were detected in isolates from chickens.

As a series of studies to investigate the effect of immunosuppression on Ascaris suum infection in undefinitive hosts, and a delicate relationship between host and parasite, in the present studies, SPF ICR mice were alloted to experiment 1(normal undefinitive host group) and experiment 2(immunosuppressive group treated with prednisolone acetate) and inoculated with a single dose of 1,100 embryonated A suum eggs. In normal group, the infection essentially terminates 4 days after inoculation(DAI) with the attainment of middle third-stage in the liver, although few larvae migrate to the lungs where a few advance to late third stage. In immunosuppressive group, significant numbers developed to late third-stage in liver 8 DAI. In general, increasing of the mast cells and the goblet cells in the jejunum mucosa, of T-cells in the spleen and of activity of peritoneal macrophages followed by expulsion of the worms in the both groups. Considering a series of the results, suitabilities for the host of the worm appeared the highest from rabbit, hamster and mouse in that order. In addition, patent infection of A suum in the mice was also not obviously observed in spite of immunosuppression by prednisolone acetate.
강원 동해안 지역 돼지 폐렴에서 분리한 puteurella multocida 에 대한 조사

The present study was conducted to investigate the incidence of pasteurella multocida(p. multocida) infection and some properties of the isolated organisms from the swine herds in Eastern Kangwon during the periods from March 1993 to November 1993. The results obtained were summerized as follows: 1. The lungs of 180 slaughtered pigs were sampled and p. multocida was isolated from 38 pigs (21.1%) and cultured positive. 2. The majority of biochemical md cultural properties of the p. multocida isolates were identical to those of the standard strains. 3. We investigated the capsular serogroup and drug susceptibility of 38 Isolates of p. multocida from pigs with pneumonic lesions 4. p. multocida isolateds were typed for capsular serogroupes A by hyaluronidase inhibition of capsule and D by acriflavin auto agglutination. Most isolates(55.3%) were type A, 15.8% were type D, and the remaining 28.9% were untypable 5. In antimicrobial susceptibility test these isolates of p. multocida were susceptible in order of colistin(94.7%), ampicillin(94.7%), cepalothin(92.1%). gentamicin(92.1%), amikacin(89.5%), but the majority of them were resistant in order of neomycin(26.3%), teracycline(23.7%), streptomycin( 15.8%)

TThis survey was carried out to investigate the prevalence of the antibody for bovine paratuberculosis (Johne`s disease) in dairy cattle in Seosan-Taean area. From February to August in 2009, 254 M.R.T. samples were collected from 57 farms in the regions and enzyme immuno-sorbent assay (ELISA) was conducted. Among 254 samples, 13 (5.1%) M.R.T. samples of 3 (5.2%) farms were positive by ELISA. In regional analysis, 1 (3.1%) of 34 farms in Seasan and 2 (8.6%) of 23 farms in Taean were positive in ELISA. According to the raising scale of dairy farms, the farm with below 30 heads showed the higher positive rate (2 out of 3 positive farms) than the farms with over 30 heads (1 out of 3 positive farms).
