Vol.110 No.110

In ancient times, when land transportation was weak, the coastal route that passed through the southwestern coast of the Korean Peninsula to Tsushima-Japan Islands was the only international transportation route linking Korea, China and Japan. The history of sea-based exchanges on the southwestern coast dates back to prehistoric times. However, China's Han(漢) Dynasty and its stem force, Han Provinces(漢 郡縣), are the first to use the sea as an international transportation route and record it. This information can be found in the 『Three Kingdoms』(三國志) and 『Huhanseo』(後漢書), which recorded the situation around the third century. Based on records, it is estimated that international exchanges between Korea, China and Japan were taking place on the southwest coast at least in the third century. However, the coastal route passing through the southwestern coast was not a safe route due to natural conditions such as the complicated terrain, tide and strong currents. Therefore, it would have been necessary for local forces to be well aware of the routes of each region and to provide a safe port of call. In the third century, however, there was no unified force that could cover the southwestern coast of the Korean Peninsula. Therefore, it seems that Han Provinces was the only one who was able to use the entire coastal route through China's advanced culture to gain cooperation from the port and port forces. Until the third century, it is believed to be the period of the establishment of a coastal route on the southwest coast based on Han Provinces and Chinese culture. The southwestern coastal route, which used to be centered on Han Provinces and Chinese culture, underwent a change around the 4th century when Han Provinces was ousted from the Korean Peninsula. As Han Provinces, who used to serve as a medium for exchanges, disappeared, international exchanges declined and conflicts began to arise among forces in various regions. This situation seems to have lasted for about half a century since the ousting of Han Provinces in A.D. 314, which is the period of decline of the coastal route along the southwestern coast. It was the Baekje ended the decline of the Southwest Coast route that had lasted for decades following the ouster of Han Provinces. Baekje was one of Mahan's many small kingdoms, but it continued to develop, and in the middle of the 4th century, it was necessary to stabilize the rear as it collided with Goguryeo in the north. At this time, the means utilized by Baekje were the advanced civilizations of China and the Southwest Coast Route. According to records such as 『NihonShoki』(日本書紀) and archaeological data, Baekje seems to have attempted to interact with port forces of the Southwest Coast and Japan through restoration of the coastal route around the Southwest Coast, which declined in the middle to late 4th century. It seems that Baekje was able to attempt to restore the southwestern coastal route thanks to the advanced culture possessed by Chinese-affiliated displaced people who absorbed it at the time of Han Provinces. Restored under the leadership of Baekje, the southwestern coastal route was not simply kept intact, but underwent changes afterwards. In the 5th and 6th centuries, Baekje was inferior in its confrontation with Goguryeo, while Silla, which had hostile relations with Japan, expanded its power along the southern coast. However, the post-fifth century appearance was different from the past when international exchanges declined at the same time as the ousting of Han Provinces. With the development of navigation technology, the southwestern coastal route was more flexible and Baekje's negotiations with port forces were expanded. Through this, despite the changes in the international situation, the southwestern coastal route was able to continue its life as an international transportation route through fluctuations. In this regard, after the mid-4th century, it was ...

      • Synthesis of Ultraviolet (UV)-curable Diimide Urethane Acrylates

Vol.46 No.2

Herein, we synthesized and characterized a series of novel diimide-diols by reacting cyclic dianhydrides with amino alcohols. We also synthesized novel diimide urethane acrylates by reacting diimide-diols with a diisocyanate and a hydroxyacrylate. The structures of novel diimide-diols and diimide urethane acrylates were determined by proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR) and Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. In addition, the effect of the molecular structure of the diimide on the heat resistance and optical properties (yellow index, haze, and transmittance) of the cured diimide urethane acrylate was investigated.

      • Ring-opening Copolymerization of Cyclic Epoxide and Anhydride Using a Five-coordinate Chromium Complex with a Sterically Demanding Amino Triphenolate Ligand

Vol.46 No.1

An alternating ring-opening copolymerization (ROCOP) of epoxides (cyclohexene oxide, limonene oxide) and anhydrides (phthalic anhydride, naphthalic anhydride and maleic anhydride) was performed using a chromium complex containing a sterically demanding amino triphenolate ligand in the presence of a cocatalyst (bis(triphenylphosphine)iminium chloride (PPNCl) or 4-dimethyl aminopyridine (DMAP)). The polymerization reaction was strongly affected by the types and feed ratio of monomers and cocatalysts. After optimizing the reaction conditions, the chromium complex successfully produced perfectly alternating polyesters in high selectivity (>99% ester linkages), with high molecular weights (up to 43.8 kDa), high glass transition temperatures (Tg up to 159 ℃), and low dispersities. In addition, a small amount of catalyst yielded a turnover frequency (TOF) as high as 380 h-1

      • Preparation and Characterization of UV-Curable Imide-Modified Urethane Acrylate Resin Composite with Cyclic Structures for OCR Materials

Vol.46 No.2

OCR (Optical Clear Resin) materials are a transparent resins that are filled between the touch panel and the display. Acrylic resins not only cure quickly by UV irradiation, but also have advantages such as excellent transparency, eco-friendliness, and low cost. In this study, we synthesized and characterized an imide-based urethane acrylate (imide-UAO) derived from cycloaliphatic dianhydrides. Thereafter, a UV-curable imide-modified urethane acrylate resin composite was prepared by combining the newly synthesized imide-UAO, reactive monomer, and photoinitiator. In addition, the optical properties (yellow index, haze, and transmittance) and adhesive properties of UV-cured composites were investigated to confirm their potential as OCR materials.
