Distribution basins are used widely in the water treatment process. Uniform distribution at the distribution basin is an important because it affect precipitation efficiency of sedimentation basin. Generally distribution basin has a free surface water and is consisted of a weir. Study result, when inflow of distribution basin is less, amount of overflow is much at the nearest weir from the inlet. But when inflow is much, amount of overflow is much at the far weir from the inlet. The difference of distribution amount at the pipe is affected by the curvature and length of the pipe. The magnitude of the effect is determined by the relative energy loss and the flow state of the distribution basin. Optimization of the response surface method for minimizing an amount of deviation of the distribution is a very useful technique to determine the optimal ratio of the valve opening.
생물활성탄 공정에서 계절별 유입수의 Br<sup>-</sup> 농도변화에 따른 THM 생성능 구성종별 제거 특성

본 연구에서는 BAC 공정을 장기간 운전하면서 유입수중의 Br- 농도변화에 따른 THMFP 제거율을 평가하였다. BAC 공정을 장기간 운전하면서 THMFP 구성종별로 제거능을 살펴본 결과, CHCl₃ 생성능의 경우는 계절변화에 따른 유입수중의 Br- 농도변화에 따라 관계없이 우수한 제거능을 나타내었으나, 브롬계 THM 생성능의 경우는 유입수중의 Br-/DOC 비가 증가할수록 제거율은 저하되었다. 또한, BAC 공정에서의 THMFP 구성종별로 제거특성을 살펴본 결과, 유입수의 Br-/DOC 비가 높은 경우에 EBCT가 증가할수록 CHCl₃ FP의 제거율은 증가하였으나 브롬계 THMFP의 경우는 EBCT가 증가할수록 감소하는 경향을 나타내었고, THMFP 구성종의 브롬원자 개수가 많아질수록 제거율은 감소하였다. The purpose of this research is the evaluation of removal efficiency of THMFP in BAC. The changes of four types of THMFP and total THMFP were examined in the influent and effluent of BAC filter from March to December in 2008. It turned out that the amounts of brominated THMFP were obviously higher in winter and autumn compared to the spring and summer, which also resulted in an increase of the total-THMFP levels during winter and autumn. In addition, long-term running of BAC filter shows the good removal function of chloroform formation potential, but not brominated THMFP; with further bromination, this function was declined, as it shows the formation of bromoform in BAC filter during October and December. These results were caused by changing of the proportion of Br-/DOC.

This study was conducted to estimate the effects of real time control for AOAS SBR system. D0, pH and ORP were good indicators on nitrification and denitrification. Among these, ORP was the most effective and stable. To save the aeration energy and to promote the removal efficiency, the system was controlled on real time basis by using ΔORP as a control parameter. When the system was controlled on real-time basis, 31∼66% of energy was preserved. NH₄^+-N removal efficiency was 99%, but post denitrification rate was very poor because of deficiency in the carbon source. This process should select to add external carbon source or step-feeding method in order to improve the post-dinitrification reaction.
Distribution Characteristics of Dioxins in Soils under Different Land Use in Busan, Korea

In this study, distribution characteristics of dioxins in soils in Busan, Korea were investigated regarding different land use types. Soil sampling sites that distributed through the Busan city showed dioxin concentration ranging from 0.489 to 322.736 pg-TEQ g^-1 dry weight with a mean value of 26.257 pg-TEQ g^-1 dry weight. The mean dioxin concentrations of investigated soils ranged from 1.554 to 50.357 pg-TEQ g^-1 dry weight in consideration of each land use type. That in metal refinery sites with 50.357 pg-TEQ g^-1 dry weight was higher than any other sites, followed by waste incinerator sites with 44.285 pg-TEQ g^-1 dry weight. The majority of soil samples had the same dioxin congener profiling despite the different range of dioxin concentration. Octa-CDD was the major contributor among seventeen dioxin congeners with the range from 29.5 to 70.1% in real values. In contrast to real values, dioxin congener profiles in TEQ values were dominated by 2,3,4,7,8-PeCDF which contributed about 35.3~43.8% to the total dioxin concentrations. It was judged by these results that penta-CDF was the major contributor of soil samples in Busan city. The mean ratio of PCDFs/PCDDs in real values was about 0.71, but that in TEQ values was, in contrast to it,approximately 3.03.
배양적 및 비배양적 방법에 의한 생물활성탄 부착세균 군집 특성

정수처리 공정에서 생물활성탄 (BAC) 공정은 미생물의 유기물 제거능을 극대화시킨 일종의 생물여과 공정이다 BAC 공정은 유기물과 미생물 재성장능을 효과적으로 제거한다. BAC 공정은 그 수계에 존재하는 미생물들이 활성탄에 부착 ${\cdot}$ 서식하며 수중의 천연유기물질을 기질로 이용하기 때문에 그 수계에 서식하는 미생물 종들에 매우 의존적이다. 본 연구는 낙동강 하류의 배리취수장 원수를 사용하여 생물활성탄에 의한 pilot-plant 공정을 운전하면서 SAC 공정에서의 활성탄 재질별로 배양작 (평판배양법) 및 비배양적 방법 (FISH)을 이용하여 SAC 부착세균의 군집구조 특성을 조사하였다. 실험결과 석탄계 재질의 부착세균 HPC 및 생산력이 각각 $1.20{\times}l0^7{\sim}56.2{\times}l0^7$ CFU/g, $1.2{\sim}3.7\;mg-C/m^3{\cdot}h$ 의 범위를 보여 세균 생체량과 DOC 제거율은 석탄계 재질이 가장 높은 것으로 나타났다. 배양적 방법으로 활성탄 재질별 부착세균을 동정한 결과 Pseudomonas 속이 우접하였고, 그 다음으로 Flavobacterium 속, Alcaligenes 속, Acinetobacter 속, Sphingomonas 속 등의 순으로 동정되었다. 또한, Pseudomonas 속 중 석탄계와 야자계 BAC에서는 Pseudomonas vesicularis, 목탄계 BAC에서는 Pseudomonas cepacia가 우점종으로 분포하였다. 비배양적 방법인 FISH 법을 이용한 세균 군집구조 조사결과 활성탄 재질별로 ${\alpha}$군집 27.0 ${\sim}$ 43.0%, ${\gamma}$ 군집 11.3 ${\sim}$ 28.6%, ${\beta}$ 군집 7.1 ${\sim}$ 22.0% 비율로 나타나 유기물 제거효율은 주로 ${\alpha}$ 군집에 의해 조절되어짐을 알 수 있었다. The Biological Activated Carbon (BAC) process in the water treatments represents a kind of biofiltration process which capabilities of bacteria to remove organic matters are maximized. It enables to eliminate organic matters and effectively reduce microbial regrowth potentials. As attached bacteria employ natural organic matter as a substrate, they are significantly dependent on indigenous microorganisms. In this study, characteristics of bacterial community by culturable and unculturable Methods have been conducted in a pilot plant using SAC in water treatment process at the downstream of the Nakdong River. Based on the results, HPC and bacterial- production for coal-based activated carbon material were $1.20{\sim}56.2{\times}l0^7$ cfu/g and $1.2{\sim}3.7\;mgC/m^{3}h$, respectively, in the SAC process. The highest level of attached bacteria biomass and organic carbon removal efficiency was found in the coal-based activated carbon. The genera Pseudomonas, Flavobacterium, Alcaligenes, Acilzetobacter, and Spingomonas were identified for each activated carbon material. Pseudomonas vesicularis was the dominant species in the coconut- and coal-based materials, where as Pseudomonas cepacia was the dominant species in the wood-based material. The Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) observation of the activated carbon surface also found the widespread distribution of rod form and coccus. The community of attached bacteria was investigated by performing Fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) analysis. a group was dominant in coal, wood and coccunt-based materials, ${\alpha},\;{\beta}\;and\;{\gamma}$ group ranged from 27.0 ${\sim}$ 43.0%, 7.1 ${\sim}$ 22.0%, 11.3 ${\sim}$ 28.6%, respectively. These results suggest that a group bacterial community appears to be regulated removal efficiency of organic material in water treatment process.
