To elucidate the expression of the human nm23, known as a candidate metastatic supressor gene of various malignant epithelial tumors, immunohistochemical studies were carried out by using avidin-biotin complex immunoperoxidase method in paraffin embedded tissue sections from 79 cases. This studies consisted of 10 cases of gastric adenocarcinoma, 10 cases of colonic adenocarcinoma, 14 cases of periampullary caricnoma, 5 cases of gallbaldder carcinoma, 10 cases of hepatic adenocarcinoma, 10 cases of bronchogenic carcinoma, 10 cases of uterine cervical squamous cell carcinoma and 10 cases of breast carcinoma. The results were as follows ; 1. The nm23 protein expression was found to the intracytoplasmic portion of the neoplastic cells with homogenous and/or heterogenous staining intensity. 2. The cytoplasmic staining for nm23 protein was identified in normal and cancer tissue. However, the immunoreactive staining intensity was more stonger in cancer tissue than that of normal mucosal tissue. 3. The frequency of nm23 protein expression in various malignant epithelial tumors observed in this study was 56.9%(45 out of 79 cases); colonic adenocarcinoma(90%), bronchogenic carcinoma(90%), uterine cervical squamous cell carcinoma(70%), gastric adenocarcinoma(60%), breast carcinoma(50%), periampully carinoma(35.7%), hepatic adenocarcinoma(30%) and gallbladder carinoma(20%). 4. The well differentiated carcinoma showed strong immunoreactive nm23 tumor cells than that of poorly differentiated carcinoma. Therefore, author suggested that nm23 protein expression was associated with differentiation of tumor cells, regardless of tumor site or specific type.
Schizosaccharomyces pombe의 thioltransferase induction mutant, ttd1-2의 유전자 cloning과 DNA 서열의 분석

Thioltransferase, also known as glutaredoxin, has been highly conserved throughout evolution. It catalyzes the cleavage of mixed disulfides and induced in response to various stress conditions. In our previous study, we isolated the mutants that showed the reduced thioltransferase induction in Schizosaccharomyces pombe. In this study, we analyzed one of these temperature sensitive mutants, ttd1-2. The wild type gene complementing ttd1-2 was cloned by its temperature sensitivity. The gene encodes a hypothetical protein whose amino-terminal part showed significant homology with uridine-cytidine kinases from various organisms. This result raises the interesting possibility that the uridine-cytidine kinase might be involved in induction of thioltransferase in S. pombe.
관절경하 원위 쇄골 절제술을 이용한 만성 제 2형 견봉쇄골 손상의 치료 - 6례에 대한 예비 연구 -

목적 : 저자들은 만성 제 2형 견봉쇄골 관절 탈구에 시행한 관절경하 원위 쇄골 절제술의 효과를 알아보고자 하였다. 대상 및 방법 : 1998년 2월부터 2001년 1월까지 제 2형 견봉쇄골 관절 탈구의 6례를 대상으로 시행하였으며 추시기간은 평균 12개월이었다. 검사의 결과의 평가는 constant-Murray 기능평가법을 이용하였으며 술 전 constant score는 32점 이었다. 결과 : 임상평가 결과 constant score는 술 후 $3\~6$주에서 35점 이었고 3개월은 49점 그리고 6개월에서는 69점으로 증가되었고 전체 환자의 $83\%$에서 만족도를 보였다. 결론 : 만성 제 2형 견봉쇄골 탈구에서 시행한 관절경하 원위 쇄골 절제술은 수기가 쉽고 간단하여 개방성 방법을 통한 광범위한 인대 재건술 또는 오구 쇄골간 고정술에 앞서 시행할 수 있는 방법이라 사료된다. Purpose : To evaluate effectiveness of arthroscopic distal clavicle resection for chronic stage 2 acromioclavicular dislocation. Material: 6 patients who had failed to respond to physical therapy were evaluate more than 6 months prospectively, which were treated with arthroscopic distal clavicular resection from february 1998 to January 2001. Result : The median preoperative Constant score changed from 32 of 100 to 37 of 100 at 3 to 6 weeks, to 49 of 100 at 3 months and to 69 of 100 at 6months. Improvement was achived at mean follow up more than 6 months after surgery. Overal $83\%$ of patient were satisfied with this procedure. but the remained case was unsatisfied because symptom was not improved more than 6 months Conclusion : Arthroscopic distal clavicle resection is useful method to treatment for chronic stage 2 acromioclavicular dislocation.
