It is his academic significance that he used a kind of dialectic in setting forth his system of thought. Lee. Hwang-No's who was a theorist in the philosophy o human nature and natural laws at the close of the Yi-dynasty, reaffirmed the rule of its demonstration and embodied it. It is of great importance that he indicated concretely the viewpoint of the relation between Li (理) and Ki (氣). His thought was succeeded by followers, Kim. Pyung-Muk, Yu. Jung-Kyo, Chai. Ik-Hyun, Park. Mun-Oh, Yu. In-Suk, and his Concept of Reverence for Li was connected with the patriotism and armed movement for independence in Korea. Therefore his thought played an important part in cultivating the national spirit. The armed movement for independence in Korea was one of the central ideas of this school, which was related to its ideology. The Concept of Reverence for Li was bound up with honesty and justice, and the latter was regarded as the embodiment of natural laws.
