Vol.8 No.6
A predominant feature currently in academic writing education is that it emphasizes its ground on critical thinking. Thus, the relevant question is raised. why should critical thinking be a basis for academic writing? The reason for this is that several elements of critical thinking propensity get reinforced in academic writing as a form of ‘academic communication’: abstract thinking, reflective thinking, analytic thinking, and logical thinking, which consist in the whole ‘critical thinking.’ In this regard, academic writing is a kind of process of critical thinking, simultaneously a consequence from it. The correlation between academic writing and critical thinking leads us to establish several proper models for a method of writing education. It is widely acceptable that a consideration on ‘Critical Reading and Writing(CRW)’ based on critical thinking is a plausible way to develop writing ability. I examine three alternative CRW models as strong candidates and then compare and contrast them in terms of ‘co-cultivation of critical thinking and writing ability’ and ‘an efficient education method.’ Furthermore, I draw my own framework in reference to them so as to be a desirable academic writing methodology.

‘Logical Writing’ as an educational course differs from ‘Free Composition(general writing)’ in that it intends to help students improve their ability to write academic essays. Also, its feature as a practical course differentiates it from other basic courses such as ‘Reading and Grammar’ and ‘Logic’. Also, Logical Writing has the distinctive feature of an integrated course as it aims to enhance students’ ability of logical thinking and communication through various learning activities. I expect that these features will make room for educatioal collaboration with other relevant courses that also aim to promote academic abilities. The primary aim for ‘Logical Writing’ should not lie in high school students’ preparation for college admission, but in cultivating their abilities in critical thinking and logical writing. The achievement of the former should be derived from the latter. Although much attention has been given to the cultivation of such abilities, this had never been incorporated into an educational course. In order to achieve this, I have set a systematic practice program called ‘Critical Reading and Writing’, and I propose this program to be the frame of this educational courses. This program is based on critical thinking and is built to allow students to assess various texts and practice their own academic writing. The whole process is divided into 3 steps, ‘Reading Comprehension’, ‘Commentt’, and ‘Essay writing’ and aims to gradually improve students’ abilities in each of the three areas, and eventually their overall performance in other educational courses, through practice, and feedback from tutors.

This paper tries to claim the necessity of an ethical decision on AI writing, ahead of AI writing actualization. Nowadays, AI technology is developing toward resembling human beings, and AI writing is on that path. Many people anticipate that AI technology could develop up to the point of substituting human action, especially spiritual activity. In doing so, our own life as human beings could be endangered. So, we should establish a true relationship between human beings and modern technology. And an ethical decision on the establishment is being urged at the same time. For this discussion, this paper tries to justify the "Educational Declaration on the Human Literacy and Human Rights" through the analyses of the flow of AI technology and the ethical declarations that have prescribed the relationship between human beings and technology.
Vol.0 No.25
The aim of this paper is to show how particular types of academic writing interact with our thinking elements and to suggest how one can apply it to general writing education. It is a theory of media that underlies this line of thought, which involves that writing as an act of communication has an effect on thinking ability. Literal communication is inseparably relate to thinking ability. Thus, both of them, what is stressed here, are essential elements required for a desirable academic writing. This is why educating writing as an act of communication amounts to not only a field of thinking education and but also one of language education. Writing education should lead students to accommodate their complex and integrative abilities so as to preclude them from overlook either of them. Analytic and evaluative(logical) thinking as basic academic virtues does not arise sui generis, but are cultivated and enhanced by writing practice, resulting in producing a high standard of academic writing. Analytic/critical writing is not all consisting in academic writing. This might be taken as a preliminary level from a general point of view. However, this should be considered as essential in order to advance to the academic discourses with respect to having a different way of thinking. For a new academic discourse, it is presupposed that one grasps the gist of established discurse(or text) and criticizes it. Without this kind of preparation process, it is not expected to attain any genuine academic discourse. Besides, one could not come up to the level of yielding anything innovative until one hold in a position to do through preliminary process. This is where a significance of analytic/critical writing is found.
