Recently, medium or slight earthquakes was occurred in the Korea Peninsula and seismic design is considered seriously in the railroad facilities as case of other civil engineering facilities. In this study, it selected the Seongnam-Yeoju railroad 6th section and seismic analysis was accomplished. Specially, unlike existing seismic analysis using the artificial earthquake and the real earthquake, seismic analysis using a seismic vibration and the train vibration was accomplished. 1-D and 2-D ground response analysis of the railroad bed and 3-D Finite element analysis in the bridge connection section of high landfill slope was accomplished. Also, slope stability analysis and the evaluation of liquefaction was accomplished.
Vol.17 No.5

Tunnelling has been created as a great extent in view of less land space available because the growth of population in metropolitan has been accelerated at a faster pace than the development of the cities. In tunnelling, it is often faced that measures are obliged to be taken without confirmation for such abnormality as diverged movement of surrounding rock mass, growing crack of shotcrete and yielding of rockbolts. In this case, it is usually said that the judgments of experienced engineers for the selection of measure are importance and allowed us to get over the situations in many construction sites. But decrease of such experienced engineers need us to develop the new system to assist the selection of measures for the abnormality without any experiences of similar tunnelling sites. In this study, After a lot of tunnelling reinforcement methods were surveyed and the detail application were studied, an expert system was developed to predict the safety of tunnel and choose proper tunnel reinforcement system using fuzzy quantification theory and fuzzy inference rule based on tunnel information database. The expert system developed in this study have two main parts named pre-module and post-module. Pre-module decides tunnel information imput items based on the tunnel face mapping information which can be easily obtained in-situ site. Then, using fuzzy quantification theory II, fuzzy membership function is composed and tunnel safety level is inferred through this membership function. The comparison result between the predicted reinforcement system level and measured ones was very similar. In-situ data were obtained in three tunnel sites including subway tunnel under Han river. This system will be very helpful to make the most of in-situ data and suggest proper applicability of tunnel reinforcement system developing more resonable tunnel support method from dependance of some experienced experts for the absent of guide.
Vol.38 No.6
In 2020, COVID-19 became a global pandemic; new vocabulary such as self-quarantine, social distancing, and temporary living facilities emerged in tandem with a rising interest for indoor isolation spaces. As a result, more than 80-90% were voluntarily or artificially trapped in an indoor space, essentially making indoor air quality a top priority. Since 2003, the Ministry of Environment in Korea implemented and imposed on local governments the indoor air quality management law as a statutory regulation to monitor and determine if the recommended standard range is exceeded; it measures, diagnoses, evaluates, and informs indoor air quality from sample households during a certain period and a certain number of times each year. Since 2000, many researchers have studied indoor air quality, but research on radon in new apartment buildings is somewhat insufficient. Since 2018, the dangers of domestic and foreign radon have been intensifying. From 2019, Korea was obliged to strengthen the recommendation standards for radon and to notify its measurements and diagnosis. For new apartment buildings with business plans approved after January 1, 2018, residents were provided with obligatory access to the measured and diagnosed indoor air quality. This study examines the administrative notices from 2017 to 2020 regarding the indoor air quality measurements and evaluations of new apartment buildings conducted by the Ministry of Environment. Actual radon measurement data for approximately 3,000 new apartment housing units scheduled to move in between June and October 2021 were analyzed and evaluated to determine how well the recommended radon standards set by the Ministry of Environment were followed. Additionally, achieving the goal of reducing radon from the current standard of 148Bq/㎥ to 100Bq/㎥ by 2024 was assessed.
