Flux법에 의한 초전도체 YBa2Cu3O7-x 단결정 육성

YBa2Cu3O7-x(=YBCO) single crystals were grown by flux method and the growing process of crystals was investigated. YBCO and 3BaO-7CuO composition powders were mixed by the ratio of 25 : 75(wt%), and the mixtures were melted at 105$0^{\circ}C$ in a electric furnace with no temperature-gradient. Then the melt was cooled at a rate 2-1$0^{\circ}C$/h in the above furnace. YBCO single crystal plate with average size of $1.5\times$2.0$\times$0.1㎣ were obtained in the cavities between crucible and solidified ingot, and the single crystals were oriented to <001> direction. The ingots of flux parts were analyzed by XRD and EDS for the purpose of presuming the growing process of the crystals. It was assumed that the divorced eutectic reaction, by which YBCO crystals were grown first and then BaCuO2 and CuO crystals, occured in the case of cooling rate faster than 2$^{\circ}C$/h. When the cooling rate was 2$^{\circ}C$/h, it was assumed that quasi-equilibrium eutectic reaction occured, so that YBCO, BaCuO2 and CuO crystals were grown at the same time.

By the floating zone method with infrared radiation convergence type heater homogeneously $Cr^{3+}$ doped alu-mina single crystal was obtained. And sizx {1010} facets appeared at the surface of [0001] grown crystals. $ZrO_2$ and $HfO_2$ precipitated as secondary phase and were not doped in the crystals. We found that the dist-ribution of the secondary phase which was mainly located at the surface and the peripheral region was closely related to the flow pattern of melt zone.

Hard shaped bodies are made by sintering a cold-pressed compact of a boron carbide compound which contains a densification aid. Titanium diboride and carbon were used as a densification aid in a range of 1% to 10% by weight. The effects of sintering temperature and additives on linear shrinkage porosity hardness bend strength and microstructure were examined. The initial partical size dependence on the sintered density was also discussed.
Vertical Bridgman-Stockbarger법에 의한 Silicon 단결정 성장

Silicon single crystals were grown bynon-seeded vertical Brdgmen-Stockbarger technique. Optimum growth rate appeared 5mm/hr in the system. It was identified that the preferential orientation using by the optical microscope resulted in <100> direction.

To study interface between crystals grown and molten state in the crusible. Pulling and rotating rate of the shaft were varied in LiF crystal growth by Czochralski method. Lower speed of the pulling and rotating rate increased the degree of convexity in solid-liquid interface and higher speed of the pulling and rotating rate decreased it. Optimum condition of LiF crystal growth obtained as pulling rate was 6.5cm/h when it rotated as 46rpm.
불소운모 합성에 따른 $K_2O-MgO-Al_2O_3-SiO_2-MgF_2$계의 연구

An attempt was made to derive a possible synthetic mechanism of Fluoro-phlogopite (Mica, 4Mg.$Al_2O_3$.$6SiO_2$.$K_2O$.$2MgF_2$) The pevention of fluorine vaporization turned out to be the key in the synthesis of Mica in question.l Consequently the quinary system of Mica was seperately synthesized ; frist 4MgO.$Al_2O_3-6SiO_2$(ternary system) was sintered at 135$0^{\circ}C$ and $K_2O$ and $MgF_2$ were added and second 4MgO.$Al_2O_3-6SiO_2$.$K_2O$ (quarternary system) was heat-treated at 135$0^{\circ}C$ and $MgF_2$ was added. The ternary system resulted in Proto-enstatite Cordierite and Spinel phases while Forsterite and Leucite were shown in the quarternay system . In both methods Fluoro-phlogopite was systhesized but the solid state reactions to form Mica from the ternary system and the quarternary system were different. High temperature reactions in the formation of Mica were investigated employing XRD, DTA and SEM The study of the synthesis of Mica indirectly suggested a method of phase analysis of quinary system(MgO-$Al_2O_3-SiO_2-K_2O-MgF_2$) and quarternary system(MgO-$Al_2O_3-SiO_2-K_2O-MgF_2$) at various temperatures.

Fluoro-phlogopite crystals (Mica) were synthesized by two different methods; firstly the crystal was crystallized from the melts, and secondly mica crystalline was obtained from the direct solid state reaction. Addition of $CaF_2$ in the mica batch revealed the lowering the solid state reaction temperature. SEM and XRD were employed to observe mica crystalline flakes and solid solution forms. As a starting raw material Pyrophyllite was used resulting in the formation of mica crystals.
Willemite 형광체의 Photo-Luminescence 특성에 관한 연구

Willemite phosphor is a good one having excellent luminescence efficiency that it;s emission wavelength is in the range of about 525 nm. The energy band gap of this willemite phosphor is about 4.1 eV. When the ratio of ZnO/SiO is 1.8 and Mncl in used as activator source the phosphor has the value of maximum luminescence efficiency. The characteristic of willemite phosphor is tendency of the dependence of temperature. The willemite which was fired with activator after being synthesized at initial firing without activator shows higher value of luminescence efficiency than willemite which was fired with activator in initial stage, When the concentration of activator is 1-1.5mol% it has its most favorite condition and the value of luminescence efficiency decreases according to increasement of activator concentration.
