Prognostic Factors Affecting Disease-Free Survival and Overall Survival in T4 Colon Cancer

Purpose: It is known that as the T stage of a carcinoma progresses, the prognosis becomes poorer. However, there are few studies about factors that affect the prognosis of T4 advanced colon cancer. This study aimed to identify the prognostic factors associated with disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) in T4 colon cancer.Methods: Patients diagnosed with stage T4 on histopathology after undergoing curative surgery for colon cancer between March 2009 and March 2018 were retrospectively analyzed for factors related to postoperative survival. Primary outcomes were DFS and OS.Results: Eighty-two patients were included in the study. DFS and OS of the pathologic (p) T4b group were not inferior to that of the pT4a group. Multivariate analysis showed that differentiation (hazard ratio [HR], 4.994; P = 0.005), and laparoscopic surgery (HR, 0.323; P = 0.008) were significant prognostic factors for DFS, while differentiation (HR, 7.904; P ≤ 0.001) and chemotherapy (HR, 0.344; P = 0.038) were significant prognostic factors for OS.Conclusion: Tumor differentiation, laparoscopic surgery, and adjuvant chemotherapy were found to be significant prognostic factors in patients with T4 colon cancer. Adjuvant chemotherapy and curative resections by laparoscopy might improve the prognosis in these patients.
Fine-Motion Estimation Using Ego/Exo-Cameras

Robust motion estimation for human–computer interactions played an important role in a novel method of interaction with electronic devices. Existing pose estimation using a monocular camera employs either ego-motion or exo-motion, both of which are not sufficiently accurate for estimating fine motion due to the motion ambiguity of rotation and translation. This paper presents a hybrid vision-based pose estimation method for fine-motion estimation that is specifically capable of extracting human body motion accurately. The method uses an ego-camera attached to a point of interest and exo-cameras located in the immediate surroundings of the point of interest. The exo-cameras can easily track the exact position of the point of interest by triangulation. Once the position is given, the ego-camera can accurately obtain the point of interest’s orientation. In this way, any ambiguity between rotation and translation is eliminated and the exact motion of a target point (that is, ego-camera) can then be obtained. The proposed method is expected to provide a practical solution for robustly estimating fine motion in a non-contact manner, such as in interactive games that are designed for special purposes (for example, remote rehabilitation care systems).

우리 춤은 우리 고유의 정서를 담고 있는 종합예술이므로 우리 춤을 분석하고 이해하는 것은 큰 의미가 있다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 춤 동작의 정량적인 분석을 통한 감정인식 기술을 이용하여 우리 춤에 내포된 감정 패턴의 변화를 살펴본다. 먼저 한국 전통춤으로부터 무용전문가들의 정성적 분석에 기반하여 추출된 우리 춤사위를 정해진 각 감정별로 재구성하여 창작하고 창작된 우리 춤을 무용전문가가 시연한다. 이를 카메라를 이용하여 획득하고, 영상처리를 통해서 시연자의 실루엣을 뽑아낸 후, 정량적 특정량들을 추출한다. 이러한 특정량을 분석하기 위한 기존의 PCA (Principle Component Analysis) 방법 보다는 조금 더 유용한 ICA(Independent Component Analysis) 방법을 적용한다. 이어 신경회로망을 이용하여 각 감정별 춤사위를 학습 시킨 후, 임의의 춤사위에 내포된 감정을 인식 한다. 또한, 시스템에 의해 인식된 감정 패턴과 변화의 정성적 의미를 이해하기 위해 무용전문가들에 의해 정립된 정성적 분석 결과와 비교, 분석한다. 이는 정성적인 분석에만 국한되던 우리 춤의 특성에 대한 이해를 객관적이고 정량화된 분석을 통한 이해의 차원으로 확장시키는 것으로, 우리 춤의 특성을 새롭게 정의하는 계기를 마련할 수 있다. 다양한 장르의 한국 전통춤 가운데 우리 춤을 대표할 수 있는 춤사위를 선정하고, 정성적 / 정량적으로 분석함으로써 우리 춤의 특성을 이해하기 위한 체계적인 틀을 제공하고자 한다. Recently, endeavors for recognizing human emotion from full body movements. Especially, dance which is close to common human motions that are the most typical of expressing human emotion, have been made. Korean dance includes Korean peculiar emotion, which discriminates Korean dance from Western dance. Therefore, the unique method for analyzing and recognizing emotion from Korean dance has been strongly required. To the best of our knowledge, there is no method for recognizing emotion from korean dance in the literature. In this thesis, we propose a method for recognizing emotion from Korean dance and analyzing Korean dance using the recognition results. The method consists of four steps. First, dance performances associated with pre-defined emotions are extracted from several representative Korean dances based on professional dancers' qualitative analysis and danced by professional dancers. Second, the dance performances are captured using multiple cameras and quantitative features associated with dance performances are extracted from the camera images using a series of image processing algorithms. Furthermore, the features are analysed by ICA(independent Coponent Analysis) more useful than PCA(Principle Component Analysis).Third, the mapping between the dance performances and the pre-defined emotions is estimated using neural network. Finally, given arbitrary dance performances, their corresponding emotions are recognized using the neural network. Thus, the purpose of this thesis is extracting sequential emotional patterns of Korean dance using the emotion recognition method. and proposing a criterion for specifying the characteristics of Korean dance quantitatively. The quantitative analysis can concrete the results of the existing researches on understanding the characteristics of Korean dance depend only on the qualitative analysis. We expect that this thesis provides a systematic framework for understanding the characteristics of the whole Korean dance through the qualitative and quantitative analysis of some representative Korean dances.

Robots which detect human and recognize action are important factors for human interaction, and many researches have been conducted. Recently, deep learning technology has developed and learning based robot’s technology is a major research area. These studies require a database to learn and evaluate for intelligent human perception. In this paper, we propose a multi-modal sensor-based image database condition considering the security task by analyzing the image database to detect the person in the outdoor environment and to recognize the behavior during the running of the robot.
유도결합플라즈마 표면 처리 및 SnO2 증착에 따른 폴리카보네이트 특성 연구

Inductively coupled plasma (ICP) treatment with argon and a mixture of argon and oxygen gases has been usedto modify the surface of polycarbonate (PC) substrates. The results showed that the surface contact angle was inverselyproportional to the plasma discharge power and that the mixed-gas plasma (gas flow 10:10 sccm, discharge power 60W) decreased the surface contact angle as low as 18.3°, indicating a large increase in the surface hydrophilicity. Inaddition, SnO2 thin films deposited on the PC substrate effectively enhanced the ICP plasma treatment, and could alsoenhance the usefulness of PC in the inner parts of automobiles.

Yochon reservoir was consturcted with an original storage capacity of 202.7 chung-meters. This reservoir receives the water from watershed area of 933.0 chungbo and has irrigated area of 478.0 chungbo. In 1967 a detailed capacity survey of this reservoir was carried out by a new depth-recorder under the scheme of reservoir sedimentation of Agricultural Engineering Research Center. Significant findings are 1. The capacity of the reservoir for the water storage has been reduced by 8.9%(18.066 chung-meters out of the 202.7 chung-meters) since its construction, a period of just 39.0 years. 2. The sediment accumulation in the reservoir represents an average annual soil loss of 0.496mm depth(0.463 chung-meters) of soil from the watershed area of 933.0 chungbo. Eventually the capacity of the reservoir for the water storage will be reducing by about 25%(50.7 chung-meters out of the 202.7 chung-meters)in one hundred years since its construction. We have to set up controlling projects for those reservoir protections from the sediment, soil loss, and other failures. The depth recorder is very useful, convenient, and accurate machine for surveys of reservoir capacity and other river surveys.
