Apocryphal Women in Wonderland: Asceticism and Desire in the Apocryphal Acts

This paper is to explore the dynamics between the asceticism and desire in the Apocryphal Acts of Apostles through the lens of Tim Burton’s film, Alice in Wonderland (2010). It examines the chastity stories in the Acts of Andrew, the Acts of Peter, the Acts of John, the Acts of Paul and Thecla, the Acts of Thomas, and the Acts of Phillip, and illuminates that these Apocryphal Acts maintain the same perspective that denies sexual pleasure and encourages ascetic life. This paper, however, argues that these values are not opposing each other, and that asceticism is an effective way of gaining power, and accordingly is another face of desire in fact. Tim Burton’s Alice can be suggested as a good example of this paradox. This paper also provides some examples of this ironic dynamics between asceticism and desire in Pauline epistles, writings of Church Fathers and some stories in church history.

산상수훈과 한국적 재구현 -개신교 가사『연경좌담』(1923) 중 “산샹보훈가” 연구-

This article deals with J.S. Gale and Yi Chang-Chik’s Protestant Gasa collection, The Gospel as Sung (1923), especially 9 pieces of “San-Sang-Bo-Hun-Ga” (The Sermon on the Mount). Gale and Yi, who are one of the most important persons in the history of the Korean Protestant mission, wrote 149 pieces of Protestant Gasa in order to help Koreans understand the gospel more easily and be meaningful in their life and faith as the Word of God. This article firstly provides basic information of this collection, and analyses its structure and contents. It also examines the literary and theological aspects of “San-Sang-Bo-Hun-Ga.” It especially compares them with the Sermon on the Mount passages in Shin-Yuck Shin-Gu-Yack-Jeon-Seo (New Korean Bible Translation) which Gale translated into Korean in 1925. This article serves as a stepping stone for further research on The Gospel as Sung as well as on many other works of Korean biblical interpretation and its representation. It suggests that Korean biblical studies need to search for various ways to contribute to the Koran Church with its own colour. 이 논문은 게일(J.S. Gale)과 이창직이 쓴 149편의 개신교 가사집 『연경좌담』(1923), 이 가운데서 특히 산상수훈 부분을 다룬 “산샹보훈가” 9편을 연구한 논문이다. 한국의 초기 개신교 선교에 있어서 중요한 자리를 차지한 게일과 그의 동역자 이창직은 사복음서가 한국인들에게 가장 쉽고 편안하게 다가오고, 성경 말씀이 한국적 맥락 안에서 그들의 삶과 신앙에 의미 있는 것이 되도록 개신교 가사라는 도구를 사용하여 풀어내었다. 이 논문은 먼저 『연경좌담』에 대한 간략한 소개와 그 내용과 구조를 분석하였다. 그리고 그 가운데서 “산샹보훈가” 9편을 살폈다. 이 9개의 가사를 분석함에 있어서 그 구조와 문예적 특징을 분석하고, 이어서 이 가사에 담긴 신학적인 관점을 연구했다. 특히 게일이 1925년에 개인적으로 번역한 『신역 신구약전서』와 본문을 서로 비교해가면서 “산샹보훈가”가 어떤 신학적 색채와 해석적 관점을 갖고 있는지 분석했다. 『연경좌담』에 대한 연구가 전무하다시피 한 현실 속에서 이 논문은 후속 연구를 위한 디딤돌 역할을 할 것이다. 이 논문은 한국의 성서신학이 한국적인 색채를 가지고 한국 교회에 기여하는 방안을 모색할 것을 제안한다.

동종 조혈모세포이식 후 발생한 이차성 담즙성 간경변과 다발성 근염

조혈모세포이식을 받은 환자에서 만성 이식편대 숙주질환의 증상으로 발생할 수 있는 다발성근염과 담즙성 간경변은 각각 드물게 보고되나 다발성근염과 담즙성간경변이 동시에 발생한 경우는 극히 드물다. 이에 저자들은 동종조혈모세포이식 14개월 후 상하지 근무력감과 전신쇠약감을 주소로 내원한 환자에서 근전도, 근조직검사, 항미토콘드리아 항체, 간 조직검사를 통하여 다발성 근염과 이차성 담즙성 간경변이 동시에 발생한 경우를 경험하였기에 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. Polymyositis and biliary cirrhosis have been described as a rare complications in patients who develop chronic graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). The concomittant occurrence of polymyositis and biliary cirrhosis developing after allogeneic HSCT might be extremely rare. Fourteen months after HSCT, a 25-year-old man developed polymyositis with biliary cirrhosis as manifestations of chronic GVHD. Polymyositis was diagnosed by the serum muscle enzymes, electromyographic, and histopathologic findings, and biliary cirrhosis was confirmed by the antimitochondrial antibody and histopathologic findings. His clinical condition was improved with cyclosporin and low dose prednisolone therapy. We report herein a case of polymyositis and secondary biliary cirrhosis that occurred concomittantly after allogeneic HSCT.

In July, 2000, A 71-year-old man complained of these symptoms: frequent defecation, urgent need to defecate, fecal leakage, anal pain, flatus, and diarrhea after surgery for colorectal cancer. The symptoms are caused specifically by injury to the bowel and sphincter function. The patient suffered physically and psychologically; but, there was no special treatment in western medicine. Therefore, we treated him with electrical acupuncture for the management of sphincter tone and the alleviation of anal pain. We also treated him with herbal medicine for the recovery of strength and gastro-colic function. As a consequence of these treatments, the bowel disorders improved immediately and successfully, even though there were some limitations. So, We report this case with a brief review of related literatures.

CELL교육과정 참여가 대학생의 학습몰입, 학습동기, 학업적자기효능감, 자기주도학습능력에 미치는 효과

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of CELL curriculum participation on learning flow, learning motivation, academic self-efficacy, and self-directed learning ability. To this end, in the first semester of 2020, 386 students from K University conducted a pre-post survey and analyzed using SPSS. The main research results are as follows. First, participation in the CELL curriculum showed statistically significant improvement in the student's learning flow, learning motivation, academic self-efficacy, and self-directed learning ability. Second, the analysis by gender showed significant improvement in learning flow, academic self-efficacy, and self-directed learning ability only for female students. Third, in the analysis by grade level, the sophomore showed significant improvement in learning flow and self-directed learning ability, the junior in all variables, and the senior in academic self-efficacy and self-directed learning ability. Fourth, participation impressions and improvements were summarized through interviews of participating students. This study is significant in that it examines the effectiveness of the CELL curriculum and suggests practical measures for systematic operation and support. 본 연구는 CELL교육과정 참여가 대학생의 학습몰입, 학습동기, 학업적자기효능감, 자기주도학습능력에 미치는 효과를 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 2020년 1학기에 K대학교 재학생 386명을 대상으로 사전·사후 설문조사를 실시하고 SPSS를 사용하여 분석하였다. 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, CELL교육과정 참여가 대학생의 학습몰입, 학습동기, 학업적자기효능감, 자기주도적학습능력에 통계적으로 유의한 향상을 보였다. 둘째, 성별에 따른 분석에서는 여학생의 경우에만 학습몰입, 학업적자기효능감, 자기주도학습능력에 유의한 향상을 보였다. 셋째, 학년별 분석에서는 2학년은 학습몰입과 자기주도학습능력에, 3학년은 모든 변인에, 4학년은 학업적자기효능감과 자기주도학습능력에 유의한 향상을 보였다. 넷째, 참여학생 인터뷰를 통해 참여소감과 개선점을 정리하였다. 본 연구는 CELL교육과정의 효과를 살펴보고 체계적인 운영과 지원을 위한 실천적인 방안을 제시하였다는 점에서 의의를 지닌다.
