Structure Optimization of Low-Dimensional Quantum Dots via Anisotropic Surface Energy

Semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) exhibit remarkable photostability, large absorption spec- tra, tunable emission peaks, and high quantum yields. These features originate from their low- dimensionality. It is necessary to control the shape of QDs because their specific characteristics are normally determined by their particular shape and size. We employed first-principle calculations to identify the optimal structures of CdSe quantum dots and investigated the shape-determining mechanism governing the formation of low-dimensional nanomaterials. The anisotropy of surface energy is a key factor determining the shape of nanomaterials and we suggest how to control their geometry and characteristics by adjusting the surface energy.
An Ultrasensitive FRET-based DNA Sensor via the Accumulated QD System Derivatized in the Nano-beads

Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) is extremely sensitive to the separation distance between the donor and the acceptor which is ideal for probing such biological phenomena. Also, FRET-based probes have been developing for detecting an unamplified, low-abundance of target DNA. Here we describe the development of FRET based DNA sensor based on an accumulated QD system for detecting KRAS G12D mutation which is the most common mutation in cancer. The accumulated QD system consists of the polystyrene beads which surface is modified with carboxyl modified QDs. The QDs are sandwich-hybridized with DNA of a capture probe, a reporter probe with Texas- red, and a target DNA by EDC-NHS coupling. Because the carboxyl modified QDs are located closely to each other in the accumulated QDs, these neighboring QDs are enough to transfer the energy to the acceptor dyes. Therefore the FRET factor in the bead system is enhancing by the additional increase of 29.2% as compared to that in a single QD system. These results suggest that the accumulated nanobead probe with conjugated QDs can be used as ultrasensitive DNA nanosensors detecting the mutation in the various cancers.

The purpose of this study is to analyze how the characteristics of Instagram related to hair influence the use motivation and satisfaction of Instagram users living in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do and to find a plan for use motivation and satisfaction. For data collection, a questionnaire survey was conducted. A total of 292 copies were used for data analysis. The study results and conclusions are presented as follows: First, emotional stimulation and information offering factors made information motivation more satisfied. Therefore, in order for one photo on the first page appearing after the hash tag research of Instagram to draw users` attraction, it is necessary to upload a representative photo in consideration of the size of smartphone LCD screen. Secondly, if the results of the hair communication between users and users, rather than between beauty businesses and users, are posted, it seems possible to lower the barrier between users and beauty businesses, naturally expose beauty information, and create empathy and emotional stimulation. Thirdly, for posting plan, it seems necessary to make contents to provide information, enjoyment, and satisfy other purposes and motivations. Fourthly, it seems to necessary to conduct pre-and post-analysis on the characteristics that meet users` motivation of accessing hair Instagram and apply the analysis results to contents making. This study has a regional limit of sampling so that it has constraints in generalizing its results. And in the future research, it is expected to perform such comparative analysis to suggest differentiated strategic points for each SNS.
