Microwave Dielectric Properties of Oriented BN / Polyvinyl Butyral Matrix Composites

The effects of an amphiphilic agent and the orientation of BN on the microwave dielectric properties of BN / polyvinyl butyral(PVB) composites were investigated as a function of the BN content in volume fractions from 0.1 to 0.5 (Vf). The plate-shaped BNsamples were oriented in the PVB matrix by physical processes, in this case tape casting and laminate methods. With anincrease in the BN content, the dielectric constant (K) increased because the K of BN was higher than that of the PVB. At thesame BN content, composites with an in-plane orientation of the BN showed a higher dielectric constant than that of compositeswith a transverse orientation of the BN because the ceramics were oriented parallel to the electric field. All of the compositesshowed nearly constant K values ranging from 1 to 9.4 GHz, indicating good frequency stability over a wide frequency range. Atthe same frequency, the K values of the composites increased with an increase in the BN content.
12주간 크로스핏 파워 트레이닝이 20대 남성의 운동수행력 및 근기능에 미치는 영향

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of Crossfit power training on physical performance and muscular function in college-aged males. Total participants (N=18) were randomly divided into Crossfit power training group (n=9, CPT) and non-exercise control group (n=9, CON). During the training period, participants in the CPT performed Crossfit power training (3 times/week & 60 min/session), and participants in the CON group maintained their normal physical activity. After baseline tests (independent t-test), two-way repeated-measures analysis of variance (ANOVA) with contrast testing was used (alpha(.05)). According to the results, grip strength, abdominal strength, back squat, shoulder press, dead lift, sit-up, push-up, and sit & reach in the CPT were significantly improved, but except for back squat & deadlift, others were not significantly improved in the CON. In addition, grip strength, abdominal strength, back squat, shoulder press, and sit & reach in the CPT at POST were significantly higher than in the CON. Standing jump, whole body reaction time, anaerobic peak power, anaerobic mean power, and isokinetic knee extension & flexion in CPT were significantly increased, but not in CON. Moreover, standing jump, whole body reaction time, anaerobic peak power, anaerobic mean power, and isokinetic knee extension & flexion in the CPT at POST were significantly greater than the CON. Thus, the results show that Crossfit power training for 12 weeks positively enhances the physical performance and muscular function in young males. 본 연구는 12주간 크로스핏 파워 트레이닝이 20대 남성의 운동수행력 및 근기능에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가를 연구하였다. 20대 남성 18명을 모집한 후 운동그룹(CPT, Crossfit Power Training group) 9명과 통제그룹(CON, Control group) 9명으로 무선할당 배정하였다. 연구기간 동안 CPT 그룹은 크로스핏 파워 트레이닝(12주간 주 3회 60분씩)을 실시하였고, CON 그룹은 평소와 동일한 생활하였다. 자료처리는 모든 변인들의 사전값의 동질성(독립표본 t 검정)을 확보한 후 반복측정분산분석과 대비검증으로 분석하였고, 유의수준은 .05로 설정하였다. 연구결과 운동수행력에서 CPT 그룹의 악력, 배근력, 백스쿼트, 숄더프레스, 데드리프트, 윗몸일으키기, 팔굽혀펴기, 유연성이 유의하게 향상되었지만 CON의 백스쿼트와 데드리프를 제외한 다른 변인은 변화하지 않았다. 추가적으로 CPT의 악력, 배근력, 백스쿼트, 숄더프레스, 유연성의 사후값이 CON의 사후값 보다 유의하게 높게 나타났다. 또한 근기능에서 CPT 그룹의 제자리멀리뛰기, 반응시간, 피크파워, 평균파워, 등속성 신근력과 굴근력이 유의하게 증가하였지만 CON은 변화하지 않았다. 추가적으로 CPT 그룹의 제자리멀리뛰기, 반응시간, 피크파워, 평균파워, 등속성 신근력과 굴근력의 사후값이 CON의 사후값 보다 통계적으로 유의하게 높게 나타났다. 이상의 결과를 종합해보면 12주간의 크로스핏 파워 트레이닝은 20대 남성의 운동수행력과 근기능에 긍정적인 영향을 미친 것으로 볼 수 있다.

In this paper, we introduce a novel approach for overcoming catastrophic forgetting. The algorithm presented in this paper can learn the uncertainty of hidden nodes in neural network and adaptively learn the regularization strength using the uncertainty. Furthermore, using adaptive L1-regularization, our algorithm can effectively hold the important information of previous tasks. Adding Gaussian noise to weights of neural network can capture the uncertainty of nodes and learn the variance of Gaussian distribution simultaneously. Our approach preserves the information of certain nodes, and gracefully forget about uncertain nodes. which can solve the catastrophic forgetting effectively. We show our approach significantly outperform the strong baseline in Permuted MNIST and Split MNIST dataset.
Phrenic Arterial Injury Presenting as Delayed Hemothorax Complicating Simple Rib Fracture

Delayed hemothorax after blunt torso injury is rare, but might be associated with significant morbidity and mortality. We present a case of delayed hemothorax bleeding from phrenic artery injury in a 24-year-old woman. The patient suffered from multiple rib fractures on the right side, a right hemopneumothorax, thoracic vertebral injury and a pelvic bone fracture after a fall from a fourth floor window. Delayed hemothorax associated with phrenic artery bleeding, caused by a stab injury from a fractured rib segment, was treated successfully by a minimally invasive thoracoscopic surgery. Here, we have shown that fracture of a lower rib or ribs might be accompanied by delayed massive hemothorax that can be rapidly identified and promptly managed by thoracoscopic means.

Background: The purpose of this retrospective and prospective study is to evaluate the efficiency of ultrasound (US) guidance as a method of decreasing the malposition rate of central venous catheterization (CVC) in the emergency department (ED). Methods: We retrospectively enrolled 379 patients who underwent landmark-guided CVC (Group A) and prospectively enrolled 411 patients who underwent US-guided CVC (Group B) in the ED of a tertiary hospital. Malposition of the CVC tip is identified when the tip is not located in the superior vena cava (SVC). In Group B, we performed US-guided intravascular guide-wire repositioning and then confirmed the location of the CVC tip with chest radiography when the guide-wire was visible in any three other vessels rather than in the approached vessel. In the case of a guide-wire inserted into the right subclavian vein (SCV), the left SCV and both internal jugular veins (IJV) were referred to as the three other vessels. The two subject groups were compared in terms of the malposition rate using Fisher’s exact test (significance = p < 0.05)Results: There were 38 malposition cases out of a total of 790 CVCs. The malposition rates of Groups A and B were 5.5% (21) and 4.1% (17), respectively, and no statistically significant difference in malposition rate between the two groups was found. In Group B,the malposition rate was decreased from 4.1% (17) to 1.2% (5) after the guide-wire was repositioned with US guidance, which led to a statistically significant difference in malposition rate (p < 0.01). Conclusions: The authors concluded that repositioning the guide-wire with US guidance increased correct placement of central venous catheters toward the SVC.
