        복부 기능적전기자극이 목척수손상환자의 최대기침유량과 노력성폐활량에 미치는 효과

        Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of abdominal functional electrical stimulation on peak cough flow and forced vital capacity in patients with cervical spinal cord injury. Methods : The study examined 20 patients with cervical spinal cord injury. The subjects were randomly divided into two groups. All subjects performed conservative physical therapy for 30 minutes. The experimental group also underwent abdominal functional electrical stimulation for at least 20 minutes per day. Abdominal functional electrical stimulation was applied to the rectus abdominis muscle twice each day, three times a week, for four weeks. In all subjects, the peak cough flow was measured using a peak flow meter and forced vital capacity was assessed using a spirometer. Results : The experimental group showed a significant increase in peak cough flow and forced vital capacity in pre-post measurements (p<.05), while the control group showed a significant increase only in peak cough flow. Conclusion : These findings suggest that conservative physical therapy in combination with the abdominal functional electrical stimulation can improve peak cough flow and forced vital capacity in patients with cervical spinal cord injury.

        Increased Expression of Forkhead Box M1 Is Associated with Aggressive Phenotype and Poor Prognosis in Estrogen Receptor- Positive Breast Cancer

        Fox transcription factors play a critical role in the regulation of a variety of biologicalprocesses. While FoxM1 behaves like the oncogenic transcription factor, FoxO3a is knownas a tumor suppressor by inhibiting FoxM1. This study aimed to investigate theclinicopathological significance of FoxM1 and FoxO3a expression in breast cancer. Expression of FoxM1 and FoxO3a were analyzed by immunohistochemical staining ontissue microarray sections from 236 breast cancer patients, and correlated with variousclinicopathological characteristics. Overexpression of FoxM1 correlated with adverseclinicopathological features, such as larger tumor size, lymph node metastasis, advancedtumor stage, and lymphovascular invasion. The Kaplan-Meier survival curves revealed noprognostic significance of FoxM1 expression. However, in subgroup analyses with patientsof estrogen receptor (ER) positive breast cancers, FoxM1 overexpression associated withpoor disease free and overall survival. No association was found between FoxO3a andFoxM1 expression. Regarding clinicopathological variables, the only association betweenhistologic grade and FoxO3a was observed. In conclusion, FoxM1 overexpression wassignificantly associated with aggressive phenotypes and poor prognosis of ER-positivebreast cancer. These findings suggest the possible role of FoxM1 as a prognostic biomarkerand putative target of anti-cancer therapy.

        화장품 원료에 의해 유도되는 미세 피부반응에 대한 기기적 평가 연구

        인체피부에서 화장품이나 화장품 원료의 안전성시험은 대체로 육안평가로 이루어져왔다. 하지만, 피부반응 초기의 미세한 변화에 대해서 육안으로는 감지하지 못하는 경우가 많다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 수종의 화장품 원료에 의해 유발되는 홍반반응에 대해 육안평가뿐 아니라, 레이저도플러혈류이미지(LDPI) 측정장비를 이용한 혈류변화 측정, Vapometer<sup>®</sup>를 이용한 경피수분손실량(TEWL) 측정, 분광광도계를 이용한 피부색 측정과 같은 기기평가를 병행하여 비교하였다. 30명의 건강한 여성 피험자를 대상으로 오일류 7종, 계면활성제류 6종, 보습제류 5종을 피험자의 등 부위에 24 h 폐쇄첩포(D0)하여 피부반응을 유도하였고 첩포 제거 후 30 min (D1), 24 h (D2)에 육안평가와 기기평가를 각각 실시하였다. 육안평가 결과, 프로필렌글라이콜을 제외한 모든 오일류와 보습제류는 저자극 수준의 피부반응(반응도 0+ ~ 2.9+)을 보인 반면, 프로필렌글라이콜과 모든 계면활성제류는 중자극에서 강자극 수준의 피부반응(반응도 3+ ~ 5+)을 보였다. 기기측정 결과, 육안평가에서 저자극 범주의 피부반응에 대해서 혈류량이나 피부색보다 경피수분손실량이 가장 민감하게 피부변화를 감지하였다. The safety of cosmetics or cosmetic ingredients on human skin is generally evaluated by visual assessment but some early subtle skin changes may not be noticed by the naked eyes. Thus, the present study was conducted to detect skin reactions induced by mildly irritating cosmetic ingredients by using a laser Doppler perfusion imager (LDPI) method that measures blood flow, a vapometer<sup>®</sup> that measure strans epidermal water loss (TEWL), and a spectrophotometer that measures the skin color as the erythema values (a<sup>*</sup>). Visual assessment showed that all tested oils and humectants except propylene glycol belong to the low skin irritation ranges (grades 0+ to 2.9+) while all tested surfactants and propylene glycol belong to the moderate-to strong-skin irritation ranges (grades 3+ to 5+). Among three instrumental methods, TEWL assessment appeared to be more sensitive than spectrophotometric or LDPI method and suitable for the detection of subtle skin response invisible to the naked eye (grades 0+ to 2.9+). Skin reactions of grade 3+ to 5+ could be detected by all three instrumental methods. In conclusion, the current study suggested that the sub-clinical skin reactions due to mild irritants contained in cosmetics can be best assessed by TEWL measurements.

        In this study, the rigid polyurethane foam (PU foam) composited with silica aerogels were prepared by compositing method using homogenizer. Silica aerogels are known as the mesoporous material with the high porosity and the low thermal conductivity. Silica aerogels were prepared with IPA, HCl, TMCS and water glass via the sol-gel method. Silica aerogels dispersed polyol solution and MDI were used to prepare the polyurethane foams. The particle size and structure were analyzed by HR-TEM and FE-SEM, and the dispersivity of silica aerogels in PU foam were characterized with FE-SEM and EDS.

        High MicroRNA-370 Expression Correlates with Tumor Progression and Poor Prognosis in Breast Cancer

        Purpose: Deregulation of microRNA-370 (miR-370) has been reported in various cancers, in which it can act as either an oncogene or a tumor suppressor gene. However, the clinicopathologic significance of miR-370 expression in breast cancer has not been studied. Methods: The expression of miR-370 was determined with quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction in 60 formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded primary breast cancer tissues. Additionally, the protein expression levels of previously known targets of miR-370, such as FOXM1, FOXO1, and FOXO3a, were detected using immunohistochemistry. Finally, we analyzed its correlation with target protein expression, clinicopathologic features, and clinical outcome. Results: High levels of miR-370 expression correlated with lymph node metastasis (p=0.009), advanced stage (p=0.002), and frequent perineural invasion (p=0.042). Moreover, patients with high miR-370 expression had poor disease-free survival compared with the lowexpression group. However, no correlation was observed between miR-370 and its target protein expression. Conclusion: Our results indicate that upregulation of miR-370 in breast cancer is correlated with breast cancer progression and that it might be a potential biomarker for predicting clinical outcomes.

        The Anti-inflammatory Effect of Trichilia martiana C. DC. in the Lipopolysaccharide-Stimulated Inflammatory Response in Macrophages and Airway Epithelial Cells and in LPS-Challenged Mice

        A number of species of the genus Trichilia (Meliaceae) exhibit anti-inflammatory effects. However, the effect of Trichilia martiana C. DC. (TM) on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammation has not, to the best of our knowledge, yet been determined. Therefore, in the present study, the antiinflammatory effect of TM on LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 macrophages was evaluated. The ethanol extract of TM (TMEE) significantly inhibited LPS-induced nitric oxide (NO), prostaglandin 2 (PGE2), inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). TMEE also reduced the levels of inflammatory cytokines, including tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), interleukin (IL)-1β and IL- 6. The upregulation of mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) and NF-κB activation was revealed to be downregulated following TMEE pretreatment. Furthermore, TMEE was indicated to lead to the nucleus translocation of nuclear factor erythroid-derived 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) and the expression of heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1). In H292 airway epithelial cells, the pretreatment of TMEE significantly downregulated the production of LPS-stimulated IL-1β, and TMEE was indicated to increase the expression of HO-1. In animal models exhibiting LPS-induced acute lung injury (ALI), treatment with TMEE reduced the levels of macrophages influx and TNF-α production in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) of ALI mice. Additionally, TMEE significantly downregulated the activation of ERK, JNK and IκB, and upregulated the expression of HO-1 in the lungs of ALI mice. In conclusion, the results of the current study demonstrated that TMEE could exert a regulatory role in the prevention or treatment of the endotoxin-mediated inflammatory response.

        This study analyzed the literature such as newspaper and magazines to look at the change of Gwanghalluwon Garden since Modern Times, and based on this, the following results have been derived regarding the change way and factor of Gwanghalluwon Garden. First, it played a role in commercial district by expanding the castle through water business of flowing into tributaries from main stream. Second, with the establishment of ChunHyanggak in 1930, the place as existing government office tower was changed to tourist destination. Gwanghalluwon Garden, ChunHyang theme place, was changed to the public place as the local festival space with the opening of The ChunHyang Festival. Third, namwon the southern market land from Gwanghalluwon Garden being fired purchased a lot and transfered this land within Gwanghalluwon Garden. Fourth, ChunHyanggak was established in honor of memorization of ChunHyang's loyalty as one of tourism business in eastern part of Gwanghalluwon Garden. Today, existing private land has been transfered into Gwanghalluwon Garden. Fifth, recently, some parts of Gwanghalluwon Garden was reclassified as Scenic Site; area-unit historical & tourism district has been established

        Clinicopathological Significance of Dual-Specificity Protein Phosphatase 4 Expression in Invasive Ductal Carcinoma of the Breast

        Purpose: Dual-specificity protein phosphatase 4 (DUSP4), alsoknown as mitogen-activated protein kinase phosphatase (MKP) 2is a member of the inducible nuclear MKP group. The role ofDUSP4 in cancer development and progression appears to varywith the type of malignancy. The purpose of this study was to investigateDUSP4 expression in a case series of invasive ductalcarcinoma of the breast. Methods: We constructed tissue microarraysconsisting of 16, 14, 47, and 266 cases of normal breast tissue,usual ductal hyperplasia, ductal carcinoma in situ, and invasiveductal carcinoma, respectively. DUSP4 expression was investigatedby immunohistochemistry. Results: Cytoplasmic DUSP4expression was observed. DUSP4 was more frequently expressedin malignant than in benign cases (p=0.024). The mean DUSP4expression score was significantly higher in malignant tumors thanin benign lesions (p=0.019). DUSP4 expression was significantlycorrelated with a larger tumor size (>2 cm, p=0.015). There wasno significant correlation between overall survival or disease-freesurvival and DUSP4 expression in all 266 patients. We evaluatedthe impact of DUSP4 expression on the survival of 120 patientswith T1-stage tumors. Interestingly, Kaplan-Meier survival curvesrevealed that DUSP4 expression had a significant effect on bothoverall patient survival (p=0.034, log-rank test) and disease-freesurvival (p=0.045, log-rank test). In early T-stage breast cancer,DUSP4 expression was associated with a worse prognosis. Conclusion:DUSP4 is frequently upregulated in breast malignancy,and may play an important role in cancer development and progression. In addition, it may be a marker of adverse prognosis, especiallyin patients with early T1-stage cancer.
