The RCAR has been estimating the damageability and reparability of motor vehicle to calculate insurance rate. For this, the override/underride tests and 40% offset 10dgree rigid wall test are performed to simulate real crash collision. Because customers can pay lower insurance in accordance with results of tests, car manufacturers need to develop efficient bumper system that can protect the vehicle from damage in low speed crash. In this paper, we have conducted case study using FEM analysis method and present improved design concept for RCAR.

With the introduction of a safety regulation on train structural crashworthiness, there is an interest in knowing the level of occupant safety of existing rail car seats. In this paper, the occupant safety of the Saemaeul-ho two-passenger seat was tested against EU SAFETRAIN project recommendations and ATOC AV/ST9001. Two tests were performed with a sled simulator. two Hybrid Ⅲ 50 percentile dummies, and 4 high speed cameras. Using the results of the test, the occupant behavior and the head, neck, leg injuries of the Saemaeul-ho are discussed.
