Acute human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) syndrome is defined as transient symptomatic illness associated with high-titer HIV replication and an expansive immunologic response to the invading pathogen. Seizure and epilepsy are not rare among the HIV-infected patients. Major causes of HIV-related seizure are focal brain lesion, meningitis, metabolic derangement, and no identified causes other than HIV itself. Generally, seizure in HIV infected patients develops during the advanced stages of the disease; decreased immunity and increased chances of developing opportunistic infection in the central nervous system (CNS) predispose them to have seizures attacks. We report a case of acute HIV syndrome which presented as new-onset seizure. Since no evidence of focal brain lesion or any opportunistic infection could be found, the most probable cause of seizure could be attributed to acute HIV syndrome. The patient got better after taking anti-epileptic drug and there have been no further recurrence of episodes so far.

This study analyzed the influence of the quality of medicinal food on perceived values, repurchase intention and recommendation intention. The objective of this study is to suggest the efficient operating direction for specialized medicinal food restaurants to grow as an axis of the food service industry by showing the future direction of medicinal food and establishing marketing strategies to maintain/secure customers. From June 15th to July 2nd, 2009, the survey was conducted for the customers of medicinal food restaurants, located in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. After distributing 250 copies of questionnaire, 195 of them were collected and total 192 were used for the analysis after excluding three copies due to lack of showing sincerity. The analysis results of this study can be summarized as follows. First, the quality of medicinal food was found to have a significant influence on ``functional value(t=5.519)`` while having no influence on ``social value.`` Second, the ``nutritional quality`` of medicinal food was analyzed as having a significant influence on ``social value(t=ir.954)`` and ``functional value``(t=8.237).`` Third, the ``medicinal quality`` of medicinal food was analyzed as having no significant influence on ``social value(t=i.191)`` and ``functional value(t=r.022).`` Fritth, it was found that ``social value`` had a significant influence on repurchase intention(t=9.743) and recommendation intention(t=9.154). Fifth, the functional value was analyzed as having a significant influence on repurchase intention(t=7.895) and recommendation intention(t=8.143). The results of the empirical analysis shown in this study properly support the theoretical standard system to achieve successful performance and useful information necessary for systematic operation of specialized medicinal food restaurants.

Soluble solids (。Brix), acid content and vitamin C content of Citrus miyakawa unshiu and C. okitsu unshiu juice harvested middle of November 1993 in Seuho-Dong and Topyung-Dong, Seogwipo-si, south area of Cheju were 10.7∼11.0, 1.04% and 41.19∼44.94 ㎎/100 g juice, respectively. Carbohydrate was consisted of about ½ sucrose, ¼glucose. and ¼ fructose. Fruit weight, peel thickness, soluble solids, pH, acid content and Brix/Acid ratio had a good correlation in linear function with increasing fruit size, respectively. However, hardness and edible part ratio were not showed correlation with increasing fruit size. Middle size of citrus fruit was favorable to panelists, and the citrus peel color of red yellow was more favorable than pale yellow color in sensory evaluation. Sensory evaluation score showed a linear correlation among citrus fruits of C. okitsu unshiu produced in Namwon-ri, Seuho-Dong, Seogwipo-si, south area of Cheju, and that of Chochun-ri, Ara-Dong, Cheju-si, north area of Cheju, and the score was higher according to citrus fruit produced in optimum cultivation area. With increasing Brix/Acid ratio of citrus juice, high sensory evaluation score was gained in panelists. These data obtained are supposed to be applied to the quality evaluation of Citrus unshiu produced in Cheju.
