A chemical examination of the aerial parts of Euphorbia pekinensis $R_{UPRECHT}$. (Euphorbiaceae) has led to the isolation of seven hydrolyzable tannins and ten fl avonoid glycosides. The former ones have been identified as gallic acid, methylgallate, 3-O-galloyl shikimic acid, 1,3,4,6-tetra-O-galloyl-${\beta}-_D$-glucose, 1,2,3,4,6-penta-O-galloyl-${\beta}-_D$-glucose, corilagin, geraniin and the latter ones as isoquercitrin, quercitrin, astragalin, afzelin, prunin, rutin, kaempferol-3-O-rutinoside, quercetin-3-O-(2"-O-galloyl)-${\beta}-_D$-glucoside and quercetin-3-O-(2"-O-galloyl)-${\alpha}-_L$-rhamnoside on the basis of chemical and spectroscopic evidence.

We have previously reported the isolation of seven hydrolyzable tannins and nine flavonoids from Euphorbia pekinensis Ruprecht. Further investigation about the same plant has led to the isolation of kaempferol, quercetin, kaempferol $3-O-(2'-O-galloyl-{\beta}-_D-glucoside)$, quercetin 3-O-(2'-O-galloylrutinoside), ellagic acid and acetonyl geraniin. These compounds were isolated from this plant for the first time.

Seven phenolic compounds were isolated from the leaves of Spiraea salicifolia. Their structures were characterized as cinnamic acid, ${\rho}-hydroxy$ cinnamic acid, ${\rho}-methoxy$ cinnamic acid, $1-O-coumaroyl-{\beta}-D-glucopyranose$, $1-O-caffeoyl-{\beta}-D-glucopyranose$, hyperoside and quercetin $3-O-(6'-O-{\alpha}-L-arbinopyranosyl)-{\beta}-D-galactopyranoside$ by chemical and spectroscopic evidence.

Objectives: Haeganjeon(HGJ) has been used for the treatment of liver disease in traditional medicine. The present study was carried out to evaluate the antioxidant and protective effects of HGJ extract on oxidative damage of hepatocytes by tert-butyl hydroperoxide(t-BHP). Methods: In the linoleic acid water-alcohol system, the levels of lipid peroxide(LPO) were determined by TBA method. The scavenging effect of HGJ on ${\alpha},{\alpha}-diphenyl-{\beta}-picrylhydrazyl$(DPPH) radical was determined according to the method of Hatano. In the Fenton system(ferrous ion reaction with hydrogen peroxide), the levels of hydroxyl radical induced LPO in rat liver homogenate were determined according to the method of TBA. Inhibitory effect of HGJ on superoxide generation was measured by xanthine-xanthine oxidase system. In order to evaluate antioxidative activity of HGJ in the liver cell, cultured normal rat liver cells(Ac2F) were prepared and incubated with or without HGJ. After 18hr, cells placed in DMEM medium without serum, and then incubated with 1mM tert-butyl hydroperoxide(t-BHP) for 2hrs. Viable cells were detected by MTT assay. Conclusions: In the linoleic acid autoxidation system, HGJ extract significantly inhibited the time course of the lipid peroxidation. These effects were similar to those of BHA HGJ extracts showed about 70% scavenging effect on DPPH radical. And HGJ extract inhibited the lipid peroxide formation in rat liver homogenate induced by hydroxyl radical derived from Fenton system. In addition, HGJ extract protected the cell death induced by t-BHP and significantly increased cell viability in the normal rat liver cell. These result indicated that HGJ extract might playa protective role against oxidative hepatic cell injury by means of free radical scavenger.
희귀생약 붉은대극(Euphorbia ebracteolata Hayata)에 대한 분류학적 재검토

Euphorbia ebracteolata Hayata is a perennial herb of Euphorbiaceae that has a cyathumal inflorescence, the glands of the involucres are rounded-cordate and reddish, stems are erect, thick and 40-50 cm high. The leaves are alternate and rather numerous. So far this plant has been known as a unreported species in Korea. However, as the result of this study, this plant was found to be widely distributed in Korea over eight habitats, i.e. Keunduk, Dokye and Kaliwangsan, Kangwon-do: Dunduksan, Kyongsangbuk-do: Okcheon, Chungcheongbuk-do: Manduksan, Baekyangsan and Naejangsan, Jeolanam-do. On the other hand, its variety, E. ebracteolata var. coreana Hurusawa which grows only in Poong-do, Kyongki-do was reviewed by comparative morphology and chemotaxonomy to be resulted in the same species, E. ebracteolata.
내장형 XML 문서 데이터베이스 관리 시스템의 설계 및 구현

PDA와 같은 내장형 컴퓨팅 기술이 발달하면서 PIMS와 같은 다양한 응용들이 개발되었다. 그리고, 이들 응용 시스템들간 XML 문서를 통한 데이터 공유와 정보 교환이 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 이에 따라 데이터 처리량이 점점 증가하게 되어 내장형 시스템에서도 XML 문서 데이터베이스 관리 시스템의 필요성이 점점 대두되고 있다. 그런데 하드웨어적으로 많은 제약을 갖는 대부분의 내장형 시스템에서는 XML 문서를 처리하기 위하여 자체 파일 시스템을 이용하고 있다. 이로 인해 타 응용과의 효율적인 데이터 공유와 정보 교환, 그리고 효율적인 데이터 처리에 많은 애로사항이 발생하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 내장형 시스템 응용의 XML 문서를 통한 데이터 공유와 정보 교환을 효율적으로 지원하기 위한 내장형 XML 문서 데이터베이스 관리 시스템을 설계 및 구현하였다. With embedded computing technology makes progress, various applications have been developing in PDA. And information exchanging through XML document is underway actively between applications in internet environment. But most of the embedded system has poor hardware resource. And embedded system uses own file system for XML document management. For reason of, it occurs to many of difficulties of data share and information exchange among other systems. Therefore, an importance of the XML Document Database Management System is on the rise in the embedded system. In this paper, we design and implement Embedded XML Document Database Management System(EXDMS) for efficiently management of XML document and supporting data sharing and information exchanging through XML document in embedded system. As compared with file system, EXDMS shows results that more excellent performance about expandability and compatibility of application. Also, EXDMS has an excellent data processing performance in poor system environment.
