To investigate the tailorability of worsted fabrics, 6 mechanical properties and thickness, weight was measured using FAST system. 6 mechanical properties are relaxation shrinkage, hygral expansion, formability, extensibility, bending rigidity, shear rigidity. result suggests the tailorability rely upon mechanical properties and thickness, weight of worsted fabrics. the characteristics of worsted fabrics gives to the mechanical properties.

The effect of several factors on the filtration performance of nonwoven air filters has been investigated. The filter samples have been grouped into three : the first group composed of seven samples was made from polyester fibers with circular cross-section, the second composed of three samples was made from polyester fibers with circular, U-shape, and trilobal cross section, and the third was composed four ready-made goods used in filtration apparatus. The air filtration tests have been performed using A.F.I. filtration test apparatus by flowing a stream of air with dust particles. The relative filtration performances have been assessed from the measurements of the resistance, the arrestance and the dust holding capacity and the following results have been obtained : 1) The final resistance after feeding dust can be estimated from the initial resistance. 2) The dust holding efficiency and the dust holding capacity increase with the filter thickness but the resistance is independent of the filter thickness. 3) The smaller the mean pore size and the greater the number of pore at the constant porosity, the higher the dust holding efficiency. 4) The dust holding efficiency and the dust holding capacity increase with the fineness of the filter fiber at 95 percent of porosity. 5) The dust holding efficiency and the dust holding capcity can be increased by using the filters made from the fiber with non-circular cross-section, but the resistance is also increased by using them.

The purpose of this study is to develop a new method for the visual presentation of weaves and woven patterns of dobby fabrics by using the personal computer briefly. The following results were given through adapting this method to the design for patterns of woven fabrics. 1. Complete weaves were given by computerizing the pegging plan and drafting system. 2. The effect of the combined woven patterns were given by computerizing the one complete weaves, the differently coloured warp threads, and the differently coloured weft threads.

The anisotropy of nonwoven fabrics of various types has been studied in terms of modulus, Poisson's ratio, stress-strain, fibre curl, and fibre orientation. Tables and diagrams for these quantities are given. Another important factor is the degree of curl in the fibres, and results are compared from different .types of fabric and different directions. The variations in mechanical properties with direction are explained in terms of the structual features.
