      • 영어 관계사 문장의 초점에 관한 운율 연구

        안길순,전병만,김현기 한국음성과학회 2001 음성과학 Vol.8 No.4

This study describes the focus in nine structure types of English relative clauses (SS, SO, SP, PS, PO. PP, OS, OO, OP), classified according to the grammatical role of both the head that the relative clause modifies and the gap within the relative clause. The informants for this study are 2 middle school students, 4 high school students in four formal classroom in Korea and 2 native speakers. To obtain the accurate intonation patters, Visi-Pitch Ⅱ Model 3300 was used for data analyses. Major findings are as follows: (1) The feature of the intonation in English relative clauses showed prosodic prominence at the head, but the English learners in Korea didn't show prosodic prominence; (2) the fact that all heads have prosodic prominence says that the head in relative clauses has prosodic focus; (3) in the fact that the English learners have flat pitch in the whole sentences, the problem of intonation education is found out.

A Study of Korean Students' Perception on English Palatal Endings

        안길순 대한언어학회 2006 언어학 Vol.14 No.4

Ahn, Gil-Soon. 2006. A Study of Korean Students' Perception of English Palatal Endings. The Linguistic Association of Korea Journal, 14(4), 1-19. Understanding the dominant pronunciation of a language may enable us to gain a better understanding of the people who speak the language and their ability of perception. The main goal of this study was to empirically investigate the perception of English palatals by Korean students of English. The instrument consisted of 16 sets, containing 6 non-existent word sets and 10 existent word sets in the dictionary. The participants (22 low-, 22 intermediate-, and 22 advanced-level ESL students from Korea and 10 natives) were asked to fill out a background questionnaire, which was composed of questions regarding personal information. This study has yielded three key findings as follows: First, the Korean speakers of English perceived English palatal endings significantly worse than American speakers, which suggests that Korean speakers of English have perception problems in English palatal finals; Second, Koreans showed a significant difference between words ending with palatals and palatal + [i] endings, which suggests that Koreans have perception problems in palatal codas; Third, the three groups' means in palatal + [i] type were not significantly different from one another unlike those for palatal endings, which suggests Korean students are likely to overuse the palatal + [i] type.

Acquisition of Semantic Categories of English Phrasal Verbs by Korean Speakers

        안길순 ( Gil Soon Ahn ) 21세기영어영문학회 2012 영어영문학21 Vol.25 No.3

Because of high productivity of lexical category in English, phrasal verbs are more difficult to master. Since most of them are noncompositional or idiomatic, their meanings are different according to semantic categories. This paper aims to determine what the systematicity of meaning in phrasal verbs becomes easier to perceive when they are not treated monolithically. The instrument consisted of 30 short dialogues with three types of phrasal verbs (literal, aspectual and idiomatic), in which the verb components were left blank, containing a phrasal verb, an equivalent one word verb, and two distracters, of which one was a phrasal verb with the same semantic category. The participants (45 low-, 45 intermediate-, and 45 advanced- level ESL students from Korea and 15 natives) were asked to fill out a background questionnaire, which was composed of questions regarding personal information. This paper has yielded two key findings as follows: First, the Korean speakers of English perceived the phrasal verbs significantly worse than American speakers, which suggests that differences between L1 and L2 cause the inherent semantic difficulty of phrasal verbs; Second, the three groups` means in the three type use were significantly different from one another, which suggests Korean students have a significant learning challenge in the development framework. That is, although there is some semantic systematicity in learning phrasal verbs, many idiomatic phrasal verbs lead to difficulty for ESL students. Pedagogical implications and suggestions for further study are also discussed.

      • AN EQUALITY AMONG THE GRADES OF MODULE

        AHN, GILL-SOON,BAEK, JONG-IL 圓光大學校 基礎自然科學硏究所 1995 基礎科學硏究誌 Vol.14 No.1

환을 연구하는데 있어서 계수의 이론은 중요한 역할을 하므로 거기에 대한 심오한 연구가 필요 하다. 이 논문에서는 Noetherian 환상의 유한 생성된 계수에 대해 고찰한다. 본 내용을 서술하면 다음과 같다. A가 A≠AE를 만족하는 이데알이라 할때 일반적으로 cgr(A;E)≤kgr(A;E)≤rgr(A;E)가 성립된다. 그러나 만일 R이 Noetherian 환이고 E가 유한 생성된 R-가군 이라면 cgr(A;E)=kgr(A;E)=rgr(A;E)가 된다. The theory of grade plays should be investigated thoroughly, for it plays an impotant and motivating role for studying theories of rings. The contents of this paper are as follows : Ingeneral, if R is an ideal with AE ≠ E, inequality cgr(A;E)≤kgr(A;E)≤rgr(A;E) is establishd; if R is a Noetherian ring and E is a finitely generated R module, cgr(A;E)=kgr(A;E)=rgr(A;E).

      • A NOTE ON PROPERTIES OF THE KOSZUL GRADE

        BAEK, JONG-IL,AHN, GILL-SOON 圓光大學校 基礎自然科學硏究所 1995 基礎科學硏究誌 Vol.14 No.1

이 논문은 Koszul complex를 계수이론에 접목시켜 거기에 따른 성질들을 알아보고저 한다. 특히, 참고도서[5]의 Rees는 u가 E의 영인자가 아닌A의 원소일때 rgr(A;E/uE)=rgr(A;E)-1임을 밝혔다. 여기에서는kgr(A;E/uE)=kgr(A;E)-1이 또한 성립됨을 보였다. The aim of this paper is to show that the properties of the Koszul complex throw light on certain aspects of the theory of grade. In particular, Rees[5] shows that when u is not a zero divisor of E but an element of A,rgr(A;E/uE)-1 is established. Also it show kgr(A;E/uE)=kgr(A;E)-1.

The Differences between English and Korean Speakers in Advice-Giving Situations

        최성훈,안길순 대한언어학회 2010 언어학 Vol.18 No.4

Ahn, Gil-Soon & Choi, Seong-Hoon. 2010. The Differences between Native and Korean speakers in Advice-Giving Situations. The Linguistic Association of Korea Journal. 18(4). 71-90. Understanding the dominant culture of a language may enable us to gain a better understanding of the people who speak the language and their ability of perception. The main goal of this study was to investigate the different ways that native and non-native English speakers respond in advice-giving situations. The instrument consisted of 11 sets, containing 5 examples which were responding to the each question. The participants (60 participants were native speakers of English, and 60 were native speakers of Korean) were asked to fill out a background questionnaire, which was composed of questions regarding personal information and choose the right answer. The data analysis indicates that (a) the factors of language and cultural background heavily influence the difference in responses between English speakers and Korean speakers; (b) gender is also significant factor in influencing the two group approaches to the advice-giving. Pedagogical implications and suggestions for further study are also discussed.

중학생의 영어 관계사절 학습 순서에 관한 연구

        김귀석,안길순 대한언어학회 2001 언어학 Vol.9 No.3

Kim, Gui-seok and Ahn, Gil-soon. 2001. A study on the learning order of English relative clauses of Korean middle school students. The Linguistic Association of Korea Journal, 9(3), 71-88. This paper has tied to explore the learning order of six structure types of relative clauses, classified according to the grammatical role of both the nominal that the relative clause modifies (the head) and the gap within the relative clause. The subjects are 293 students using different textbooks in four formal classroom settings in Korea. To obtain the accurate percentages and learning orders of English relative clauses, the Group Score Method (GSM) was used for data analyses. Major findings are s follows'. (1) The learning was order of relative clauses is SS, SO, OS, 00, SO_1, OO_1; (2) The orders me not similar to those shown in previous studies by the native language researchers; and (3) The frequent order in English textbooks used did not affect the learning order. Acquisition of the Proximity Principle by Korean Speakers

        김귀석 ( Gui Seok Kim ),안길순 ( Gil Soon Ahn ) 21세기영어영문학회 2011 영어영문학21 Vol.24 No.1

It seems plausible that learners of English with a topic-prominent first language would find it more difficult to master subject-verb agreement than learners whose native language is subject-prominent like English. Obviously, not all cases of subject-verb agreement can be described as exclusively form-based or meaning based. Some seem to be more a matter of usage and convention. This study aims to determine whether subject-verb agreement on the proximity principle. The instrument consisted of 25 sentences, containing a singular verb and a plural verb to be selected by subject-verb agreement. The participants (50 low-, 50 intermediate-, and 50 advanced-level ESL students from Korea and 15 natives) were asked to fill out a background questionnaire, which was composed of questions regarding personal information. This study has yielded two key findings as follows: First, the Korean speakers of English perceived the proximity principle significantly worse than American speakers, which suggests that Korean speakers of English have perception problems in the proximity principle; Second, the three groups` means in the proximity principle were significantly different from one another, which suggests Korean students are likely to follow the traditional rule well. Pedagogical implications and suggestions for further study are also discussed.
